Four-piece guitar groups would have never made it out of the 60s, and wouldn't have become the 'standard' format of a rock band for years to come. I doubt "guitar music" would have even maintained the great relevance it had.

The bigger influence they had on music started with Sgt. Peppers. The entire movement to have bigger and more bombastic music like with Hendrix and Queen stem from this.

The entire reason the sitar is related to hippies is from that one album, too.

This is a real consideration because they almost broke up at that time, which was the massive shift they had from pop rock to prog/blues.

No one would even know them without Sgt. Pepper's. That said, if the Beatles never existed I am sure Rolling Stones and Beach Boys would have been more successful.

UK would have been more punk and US would have been more POP as a result. Beatles kind of unified all of that, obviously.

It works on the whole abortionist argument that if you aborted the baby born with syphilis it was Beethoven and the world would have lost all that music, but in all reality, Mozart would have just taken more limelight.

You don't hear about the millions of bands that failed.

The Rolling Stones would have just carried the extra weight

>Rolling Stones
Did they not have momentum and popularity carried by the 'British Invasion' - which was headed by The Beatles? If The Beatles never existed, what then would have been of the 'British Invasion' and the influence thereof?

I think the Stones would have carried the mantel enough. That and Beach Boys...

>UK would have been more punk and US would have been more POP as a result.

cringe

no, you missed his point. the rolling stones got their first hit with a Beatles cover. it's likely the stones would never have made it beyond '64 or '65 without that kickstart from the Beatles

Are you referring to that film coming out?

Look mom i posted it again

Oh did you live in that timeline?

Where could have it gone? It was already deteriorating into twelve-bars and pentatonics by that point.

A cover version of Chuck Berry's "Come On" was the Rolling Stones' first single, released on 7 June 1963. The band refused to play it at live gigs, and Decca bought only one ad to promote the record.

Chuck Berry kind of set that.

you're right, but you forgot
>british manifacturing fails
>the US doesn't make it to the moon
>soviet union wins the cold war
>all men born forever after are 5ft2 and have 2in penises

honestly god bless the beatles for by playing the exact same type of rock in a format already established by others and pushed by their contemporaries of similar success they saved us from the apocalype

Wew look at all these people thinking the landscape of music as a whole would of changed from the absence of one measly pop band.
Germans would pioneer electronic music all the same, Beatles did not define psych music so that would just march on, Sabbath would of still existed to invent metal anyways and jazz musicians couldn't have given enough of a shit about a honkey band to not make modal and then later, electric jazz.

modal jazz came in the late 50s, but this is otherwise okay

It’s just too self aware. What a douchey thing to post.

A lot of all time greats of the style came out in the 60s. Either way the lame ass Beatles had nothing to do with them.

correct

Mainstream music would actually be good

soi wojak posters are by far the worst most obnoxious posters on this site, and that's saying a fucking lot

They did a lot for music, and not for the better.

Indeed, their great contributions to banal commercialized music is hardly a thing worth celebrating.

Okay lad (even tho I know you’re a yank)

Sure the British made great music; but the Beatles didn't.

You’re wrong but it’s okay :)

Not a yank bruv
>no counter-argument supplied

Pretty hilarious coming from a Beatles shill who doesn't even know how many better British rock bands there are and the sheer scope of them.

I never said Beatles were the best of all time...but anti-Beatles posters usually undermine their impact and say they did nothing...which is wrong.

You’re wet m8 (and a yank)

They did this
and should be condemned for it, not idolised.

>take traditional bluegrass band composition
>swap the mandolin player for drummer since it's mostly used as percussion anyway
>swap the banjo player for lead guitar
Brilliant. Simply brilliant, those Beatles were.

Who are the Beatles?

If it’s so simple why don’t you just do it again? Come back to the thread when you’ve sold 100s of millions in a few years :)

Okay no problem give me a time machine and I'll do it.
