You need a bit more in your soundscapes. Closest word I can think of is "punchiness". It feels like Perturbator without that sense of "DAMN, I'M IN THE FUTURE". Best thing posted in this thread so far though

alright, for real I guess this is the post above mine, unless someone posts before I do. Right from the start I like the mixing/mastering a lot, every element can be heard quite well and is clear. The instrumental is not my cup of tea, I feel like I've heard it many times before, but it is catchy and enjoyable nonetheless. The vocals are pretty decent too, I dig the autotune but again, a bit overdone. It's a pretty good emo trap song user, good job

No problem.
We are not in the same genre tho.
Crystal Castles is 90's Electro Pop/Punk.
Never liked em. Too much throwaway to what was already done in Europe back in the 90's...and better may i add.
Crystal Cage is Darkgaze and Drone with some Scifi Pop.

RECs.. I taught them everything!
They dumb.
They need biggr butts
If you promote your art as dumb you'll get nowhere, that emotional-14-year-old way of talking about yourself will get you nowhere bro.
>Spotify
Bro, no offence bro but spotify will destroy your career, or I should say your attempt at one before it even begins. Spotify's whole gameplan is to security steal music from artists and then when that artist disappears they rebrand the music under a new name. Basically like what the industry did with Lady GaGa but now it's spotify doing it and no one knows.
"4D Ghosts Remix" straight SLAPS. Obsessed with that main saw synth.
Recording our EP now - some demos - 80s disco or some shit
Did you sell the other one to your mommy? LOL you don't even boombap properly. Your beats are a big generic and I recognize the Samples. the sample sounds like it was recorded to a 15ips tape machine with a live band going straight through a console, and the drums are coming from a drum machine, synth, or stock DAW drum samples, chances are the context won’t make sense, you should always focus on that crispy sound quality bro.
In my mind I’m thinking “ok, what can I do to make these drums sound better, like they BUMP to the sample, but still stick out and hit hard?” Bro... Think about it like this, it might mean you have to be processing to the sample, or processing to the drums, or both. And generally needssome experimentation to make it BOOM in the speaker. And also mmatching the space is super key. This isn’t easy, it takes a really ADVANCED ear like mine. But if you can train yourself to listen to the ambience in the sample and recreate that ambience around the drums, but don't get confused. You follow? Next turn up the EQ low end (bass) and ta-da you're better.
HA you wanna be me so bad bro lol bro.
This really isn't experimental bro... like really?
He needs to focus of overcoming his disability to be a normal human being instead of slapping a computer.

Thanks bro yeah my rock music is honestly so beastmode, it's funny how some people ITT suck SO BAD at guitar music but that's all they do, yet I can dabble in the genre and absolutely killlllll it hahA YES!
>making witchhouse in 2014+5
HAHA whaaaat bro? Bro you're too late to that party bro lol.
Bro, "lofi" isn't a safeword to avoid criticism on EQing and mastering. It's not just to clean up sound quality, EQ is to make space for all the elements to fit together. If multiple elements of a mix occupy similar frequency ranges and attempt to fit into the same space, the result will often sound muddy, and basically just a MESS, it doesn't sound "indie" or whatever you shmucks say its like, its just embarrasing.
ME
Super smooth and nice, pleasant to listen to. I don't have much criticism, I might mix it differently (high pass filter at 90-100hz? 250~hz eq down?) l but I don't know. It sounds great. Also it says it's a demo, so I assume you'll master it more, but it's already solid.
Here is the album I just put out, bandcamp and spotify
(Ambient / Downtempo / Piano / Noise )
tristanb.bandcamp.com
open.spotify.com
(Album art)
I'll be hanging out and checking out some other shit, likely, hit me up if you want to talk
Bro... You need to Learn how to boost your bass. I can help you out quite a bit if you ask, but for now what you need to focus on is Making great bass patches. to make a beginner bass, get a defult patch in Harmor, turn the low-pass on A to 10% and 0% on B, and then turn the Sub up on both A and B, next turn on some slight distortion and then EQ the sub in the mixer up all the way.
Keep working bro. I can tell you mostly sample because you're either not creative enough to invent your own stuff or you're just too lazy. Either way you NEED to drink less tap water your pineal gland is probably hardened as fvck. But yeah, don't sample so much bro, try to make your OWN music. The problem I have with 99% of "musicians" who sample other people's work is LONGG. The big thing is with these digital sound sampling devices, back in the day my sh!t was ANALOG bro, do you even know what analog means? Whatever, anyway these digital systems are, we are told, music mimics par excellence, able to render the whole orchestral panoply, plus all that grunts, or squeaks. The noun "sample" is, in our comodified culture,pre-fixed by the adjective free, FREE. as in STEALING. So now you're lying about being an artist and if one is to consider predicating this subject, perhaps some thinking aloud on what is not allowable auditory appropriation is to be heard.
Some of you, current and potential samplerists are confused, I KNOW you're confused, and it's about the extent to which you can legally borrow from the ingredients of other people's sonic manifestations. Is a musical property properly private, and when and how does one trespass upon it? Like myself, you may covet something similar to a particular chord played and recorded singularly well by the strings of the estimable Eastman Rochester Orchestra on a long-deleted Mercury Living Presence LP of Charles Ives' Symphony #3 and you're thinking "Oh no, welp here's another song down the DRAIN".
ME
I like this bro...def catchy but also has that alt vibe
Bros, read what I said here about Spotify...
>bro
confirmed dubbi, don't try to impersonate the intangibles.
Bro being an artist is like 85% stealing, maybe 100% when you first start out, and sampling is an art, too.
Some of my favorite producers rely heavily on sampling, granted, they're masters of it like 9th Wonder or J Dilla, but it's an artform that is worth working at if you enjoy it.
Anyway yeah a lot of art is basically just theft so relax
Glad to see yet another thread is being derailed by these people who don't actually like music.
I mean "i'm glad" SARCASTICALLY. I don't get the point of coming here and ruining these threads.
What could it possibly do to make you guys feel better about your shitty shitty lives.
And yes, it's clear that your lives are shitty, if they weren't you wouldn't do this to us here.
DJ Dubbi is an asshole. There's no other way to put it.
Every day. Every. Fucking. Day. He comes here and shits on all of our music.
We work hard on our craft and all he does is quickly throws a cheesy bass line over a beat.
Yet, he has the balls to tell US that our music isn't good. He has the guts to rate our music out of 10?
He can't even write a real song that isn't just a rip off of whatever thing is cool, and not done well either.
Don't let DJ Dubbi, or any of the trolls here get you down about your craft.
DJ fuckface Dubbi is just an autistic faggot who thinks shitting on peoples work is funny.
He's not trolling he's just retarded, I fucking hate him, every day he tell me my music is shitty.
I've spent half a decade perfecting my craft, and he thinks he can come along and just fuck my career up?
Fuck that.
Fuck him.
We are artists. He isn't.
Sorry for the rant.
Yo appreciate it but I've never heard about this so I'm skeptical, and I don't plan to stop making music
>sampling is an art
How is having other people do the hard work while you just put a beat to it and call it yours art? Sounds like you're just really defensive about the fact you can't make music on your own.
I love music and I think my point about a lot of creative enterprise being fueled heavily by borrowing is very valid and doesn't detract from that stuff being awesome
You iterate on something and make it your own, occasionally there is real innovation or great leaps forward or into new territory
Yeah spotify is amazing! Anyone who doesn't use spotify will literally never be famous. I honestly laugh when people like Dubbi talk shit about it.
My music isn't even sample based lol but it's ok. Chopping samples is an art
Exactly. I think trying to make music 100% in your own is a huge waste of time when other people are making great music that you can borrow all the time.
stop ruining the fucking thread jesus christ we get it you don't like making your own music and are insecure about it.
>My music isn't even sample based
Then why are you defending that shitty genre so much?
dubbi just stfu, don't justify your team of 6 producers making all of your music for you.
No one thinks you're being funny.
No one is laughing.
No one is even looking at your links.
Because I'm not a toxic, hyperbolic piece of shit who enjoys shitting on people for doing something they enjoy?
Goddamn, I'm not the one being insecure here
You know it's the year 2019 when the s0i-bois use the word "toxic" kek.
>I'm not insecure YOU'RE insecure!
>s0i-bois
>kek
You know what I meant when I said it right? So the word is working, shut the fuck up, the things you just said are way cringier
Yeah you go girl! Tell that asshole who's boss.
Which is your music? I want to listen to it? I hope it's Bedroom Pop.
This is so tired. Find a less retarded ideology. I have deadlifted 400+ lbs and I do consider myself a feminist. You are a dumbass and can't even formulate your own thoughts in an intelligent way. Let's go back to music.
Dubbi stop shitposting.
yeah ok, go back to working on your epic dubstep. you're just derailing the thread dubbi. fuck off.
I'm literally not Dubbi and I think he's an asshole too, but I agree dude, this is a waste of all of our time
I was just trying to say that I think sampling is cool, like, we could talk about that and have a conversation but it's all been downhill reductive, stupid shit from there.
>talking about sampling
>expecting an intelligent conversation about it
Kek, sampling is the most bottom-rung, unintelligent method of making music. Obviously there's no one intelligent who'd want to talk about it.
Also, you're obviously Dubbi.
Ok yo dubs say I'm dubbi
what could you possibly expect people to say about sampling other than shitting on it. you really thought you'd get a pat on the back for not doing the work yourself? spend some time learning music theory and you'll come to realize how cringy your current standpoint is.
