It’s not exactly cheap to get. Gibson, thinness is a plus as it’s less wood, cheaper to produce, and still sounds great. You can get an SG modern if you want a fancy one for $3k. Or you can get a SG special for $1400 if you want an affordable one.

Kirk Hammet has 4 signature ESP guitars but uses a Gibson to record. I’m shocked.
Eric Johnson has 3 signature Strats but uses a 56 Strat, 335, SG, and Firebird to record. He likes vintage guitars and doesn’t care for nu-fender (or post Mccarty Gibson)except for the pay check.
Clapton probably owned and used an SG Les Paul and Strat and used them all as gibson and fender do have different sounds then fender paid him to use a fender and he did.

That's only good for those radio sounding cleans, for good cleans you need an amp with enough headroom to take the full output of your pickups without breaking up. Usually means using less hot pickups.
My favorite guitars are HS and HSS for this reason.

No, it's a 2006 AVRI with a J Mascis pickguard and a gold TOM bridge. I based it off of his white backup Jazzmaster that the signature model is based off, ended up getting the gold pickguard from one of his sigs, seeing as I was already basing my guitar off of his.
