APOS TRO PHE

Listen to his albums with the Mothers of Invention first, and just listen to them in order

I started with Make A Jazz Noise Here. Hot Rats is also a good start, same with apostrophe. If you're more into the comedy aspect I'd roll with Sheik your booty or Joe's Garage.

so you're saying i should listen to probably 40 years worth of albums?

The greatest hits album. Duh.

>low attention span

i feel like apostrophe is the most loved album so i want to build up to it but i don't think i want to listen to everything

little house i used to live in made him click for me and we're only in it sealed the deal

Based

No, Mothers of Invention doesn’t have that many albums.

It depends on where you’re musical preferences lie.

In order. Skip nothing.

Freak Out!
The best place to start with almost artist is their first album (unless it's David Bowie, in which case you ignore the first album and start with the second).
If you want the most loved album then go for Apostrophe though.
And if you want my personal favorite, it's Hot Rats.

hot rats

We're only it in for the money is a pretty safe start.

What's his best album, Yea Forums? For me, it's Uncle Meat

Stopped reading right there

decent choice, but too much filler desu
my top three are Freak Out, Shut Up n Play Yer Guitar and Civilization Phaze III

wherever you want
i'd just keep in mind that his 80s music is generally considered his least accessible. it's where he started experimenting with the synclavier compositions, was focusing almost entirely on novelty songs, and towards the end of his career he got preachy about drug abuse, evangelicals and republicans. which a lot of people obviously aren't going to be interested in
it's top tier zappa, but i think it's widely considered a favorite because it's a stepping stone album
like the first zappa album that "clicked"
a lot of people that's going to be freak out
another might be hot rats
he generally stayed in a style for a couple albums so you aren't ruining it for yourself

omg it's so well structured, i'm going to be a good lad abd keep this in mind

I actually started listening to hot rats anyway since it was one of the first albums and i'm really enjoying this.

I think I might keep going chronologically while keeping an eye on this chart
Thank you guys!
