Thanks boys.

np user. enjoy.

madlib's beats are so smooth. this is an awesome first listen boys

Attached: tenor.gif (225x225, 348K)

jesus christ this is incredible

fav tracks so far?

Half manne half cocaine was insane

what would you score it out of 10?

at least a 9. really nothing bad to say. freddie is super versatile here, and madlib is performing at the top of his game, easy

9

def aoty

madlib saves hip hop once again

Cataracts is so smooooooth

I'm on Fake Name and this shit is incredible

Too bad education uses the same sample Kanye used for bonjour on nas’ last album

Haven't gotten to that song yet but I'd bet Madlib makes more out of it, and I'd bet my entire bank account that the rappers make more out of it than Nas did

So this AOTY just by nature of how shit this year has been for music right?

Yes but it's still fucking fantastic in its own right

Bandana > Madvillainy

HALF MAN HALF COCAINE IS SO GOOD, OMFG

Can't wait to hear it I love pinata so much. Glad to see good things here

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH

bless you

no idea if this is real but if it is, then thank you

get this shit outta here

caesar is a legend

Fuck off Fag I'm providing my niggas with links eat my dick

lol, his last LP was trash

besides, this is a bandana thread

Is john gotti karate in that?

>Chris Brown links
nahhh I think we're good

Haha i forgot that Nas record was even out. Holy shit

Because it was trash. Lost tapes 2 should be good though

This is it, this is aoty, not memeing or shilling, it's just that good, favorite track lads?

>Asap Rocky done went and bought Yeezy a pair of new shoes that nigga was dick-sucking god damn
what did he mean by this?

jeezy. they have beef

The base for education (the beat, mos def verse) is over 7 years old

lib sampled it first

Freestyle shit beat is amazing but Freddie's flow is making me flow asleep.

Half Mane Half Cocaine feels a little out of place with the trap drums but jesus that's so good

shitty rip.

it's 320

Anyone reupload it? Mega doesn’t work for me for some reason and the Dropbox link got shut down

where have I heard the beat for Palmolive for?

Seconding, here's some tits to contribute

Attached: 1505697978459.png (600x806, 620K)

You might have heard the leak that ran around here last month.

oh yeah that makes sense actually

man PALMOLIVE is fucking HEAAAAAAT oh my God

Senran Kagura is garbage, try again

So, after one listen, my take is that this is better than Pinata.

It's muddier, there's a miss or two but it's more exciting/creative/visceral/eclectic and it's just more of an experience for me. The highs are ridiculously high and there's something really fun about hearing madlib take all of these chances and nailing them 99% of the time.

Also, I really can't emphasize just how high the highs are. There are a handful of tracks here that are genuinely up there with the very best hip hop I've ever listened to.

This is probably the most creative madlib has ever been and it worked out very, very well and Gibbs is 100% at the top of his game.

discord.gg/7GHWpW

Join my server we're finna discuss it later

Attached: doj.png (600x600, 471K)

Yeah it's stupid good.

My favorites are

Half Man Half Cocaine
Crime Pays
Palmolive
Fake Names
Situations
Education

Yea Forums loves praising Madlib and yeah he deserves it for murdering this album front to back but holy shit Freddie's performances here never fail to amaze. Lines are so funny and serious at the same time, his use of long, complicated words never fumble, and he can sit on any beat.

Yes.

I also think it's interesting how Freddie always manages to rise to the level of his production.

If his producer drops fire, he'll drop equally hot fire and if the producer misses then he tends too as well.

I mean it in a good way too. Not a lot of rappers would be able to keep pace with beats of this quality. Gibbs is a true competitor and it shows.

LIVIN' LA VIDA BROKA

Cataracts is smooth as fuck no one has mentioned it yet

Attached: yegf.png (710x459, 57K)

anyone know who Gibbs is imitating with the melodic rapping in Situations? sounds familiar

OMG BACKPACKER HIP HOP

literally right here

what has you upset user

doing gods work out here. Thanks, boys

nothing lol i will listen to this later

Attached: 00DD1377-5788-4AAA-B1FD-48283EBE9CE9.png (1000x666, 287K)

9/10 easily

the beat/flow changes are so SMOOTH wtf

why does it matter

that vocal filter or whatever on education sucks desu

6/10
will be another "oh yeah i like that for a minute but got bored"

Did you feel that way about Pinata?

honestly, a little disappointing.

it's good, but the highlights are the singles.

the switch on half manne half cocaine was INSANE but there's a couple other switches that don't really work. fake names was absolutely amazing until the switch and the ending of cataracts should be a track by itself, which would help make this longer bc it feels a little short. situations beat is weak and although education is great with mos and thought on the same track it should've been better.
it's still very good, but pinata is better.

pinata was a 9/10 for me. now i barely spin it

Push killed that, what a heavenly beat

I respect your opinion user but strongly disagree.

I actually think most of the highlights are not singles (With the exception of crime pays)

I also get a strong feeling that this is going to be a project that gets better and better with multiple listens.

Madlib projects are always like that and this might be his most dense project to date so I really think it'll unfold more.

hype

Attached: Untitled.png (572x692, 283K)

Also, don't forget that the vinyl version of the album is gonna have different beats according to the rappcats website pre order page. We could have some different sounding tracks within the next week considering vinyls have started shipping already

Fuck are they all sold out

It's all good, people will rip it

HHAOTY

>4.19 average on RYM
holy shit...

That's not madlibs highest rating though right?

idk

at present it is, yes.

Attached: 4.18.jpg (323x207, 15K)

Just opened slsk, it's already up on there too. seems to be 2 or 3 different sourced 320kbps rips judging by different file sizes.

>Tripnigger

>using the n word in 2019

lol fuck you

racist

Reminds me I should open it, let the bros leech off me

There’s like 60 ratings nigga it’s gonna go down

That said I’m pretty confident it’ll settle around a 4

>I’m pretty confident it’ll settle around a 4
The album is more than a 4/10 you fucking racist. How does it feel to be racist xD black people because the memes of pol convinced you to think without actual though?

Is your brain feeling okay?

God bless you.

madlib sampled it first on this unreleased mosdef joint

@ 2:59*

Half Manne Half Cocaine does not sound like a madlib beat

meh.. will try to give it another listen

Seethe

After giving a couple of listens I think it's worse than Fetti.

will they though

tysm

Literally how, Fetti has 2 good songs

Attached: confused_carti.jpg (699x705, 43K)

I think so man, mfs would do anything to hear more madlib beats especially considering how well this is being received

lmao all of Freddie's verses in that album are amazing, new thangs is the shit

>it's worse than Fetti.

Attached: 1548444484889.jpg (632x1952, 211K)

Fetti was average as fuck, Curren$y completely dragged it down, he can't keep up with Gibbs at all, not even close.

Bro the second half of it is actually incredible, reminds me of something off Q's Oxymoron desu idk why

mega.nz/#!5MYGlQAT!7cuHAE_x4zK1-Xf82znDMYdZK5zSRgki9TAjLYia4fk

nigger, like any other word, is just a word. fearing its use only serves the racist side of things by giving it power. so
nigger nigger nigger, eat my shit faggot

>Genuinely thinking it's "just a word" to everyone else because it's just a word to him.

Attached: 1532729302573.jpg (963x1024, 74K)

even tho Bandana was the weakest single I would def take it over Situations desu

hearing yasiin on a track again was sick

Words aren't magic. They have power because you give them power.

No not "you", an individual doesn't assign the power of the word, it's not that simple. The words comes from years of history, you can't just decide something isn't as important as it truly is just because you don't recognize the significance of it.

its great
APOLOGIZE

Attached: 1537386664827.png (1280x720, 1.15M)

there were people who legitimately thought it would be bad after hearing the singles and seeing the tracklist?

>m-muh feelinz...

Everyone shut up and talk about how this is objectively album of the year.

Best in HipHop at least, few rivals.
Maybe Dave
Maybe Billy Woods
Maybe Boogie
Maybe Aesop Rock

>Dave
Who's Dave?
also fuck no to the other three

British rapper

bump

Wasnt huge on piñata. Will I enjoy this

Depends why you weren't huge on pinata. This does have some notable differences

I really can’t get into Freddie’s voice

>Dave
cringe

Blu & Oh No is def better honestly.
Muggs & Mach-Hommy and Injury Reserve are the only other competitions but this is better.

Billy Woods and Aesop were ok, they have done much better in the past.

Attached: Jason_Bright.jpg (800x571, 119K)

Fucking hell I'm happy after the first listen. I was afraid that it would disappoint, and after the first couple of tracks I wasn't quite feeling it, but after that the whole album was really close to being perfect. The last half (and more) flows so well.

Best tracks imo: Massage Seats, Fake Names, Flat Tummy Tea, Giannis (feels so Pinata) and Cataracts.

I'm not sure if it's better, but it's certainly as good as Pinata. Obviously it's AOTY

I'm pretty sure it's Kendrick on DAMN. It had the same kind of "loose imitation" feeling as I got from DAMN

At what time does spotify updates?

LOOK SOMEONE JUST TELL ME CUT THE CRAP DOES LORD QUAS SPIT?

No

midnight EST

Then avoid this album and all of Freddie's discography.

yeaaaaaaa, ya just don't get it do ya?

I feel like bangerfags will be disappointed, but those who enjoy Madlib venturing further and more out there with his production will enjoy the shift in direction. Freddie also feels more varied and interesting in his flows.

Not the first time Kanye borrow's madlib beats
youtube.com/watch?v=GmvLFAA3DRs
youtu.be/BPB7wtqRyXM?t=183

i'm really excited to hear the instrumental version of this album. this is really the most creative madlib has sounded in a while.

makes me excited to see what he releases in the near future now that this is off his plate

It feels like he's flirting with modern trap influenced production, but still keeping his trademarked soul in it.
Really the only moment I was outright disappointing with this album was Killer Mike's absolutely weak ass spot in Palmolive

After giving a couple of listens I think it's worse than Ambient 1/Music for Airports

It feels like he's flirting with modern trap influenced production, but still keeping his trademarked soul in it.
Really the only moment I was outright disappointed with this album was Killer Mike's absolutely weak ass spot in Palmolive

Reminds me of Bone Thugs

half manne half cocaine threw me off hard with how much it was basically just straight up a trap beat. the beat switch coming in and almost deconstructing it was phenomenal tho. probably my favorite moment of the album.

palmolive was another favorite. pusha killed it

that’s a great hook, what you mean

quads are truth

Attached: 1378346267567.jpg (467x460, 12K)

Yea, Pusha was solid in that song.
Maybe I'm a rap-let, but I'm used to Killer Mike's high intensity delivery in RTJ and it didn't meet my expectations.
In general I was pleasantly surprised at the comparative lack of features on this album compared to Pinata. Made it feel more like a Freddie Gibbs AND Madlib album.

Bros....Madlib went all fucking out didnt he.

Attached: 1543210591014.png (1075x1520, 1.3M)

the features always kept pinata from feeling like a truly perfect album to me. all the way thru to uno is fantastic, but i always slog through the last leg of the album.

agreed, saw an interview of gibbs saying only reason theres features on bandana is because he was hanging around these dudes and couldnt say no. said he wanted to do it solo

You think Madlib does it? I wouldn’t be surprised, his beats are spooky good.

Attached: EA9BAACD-6254-4EA3-976E-80F847E229E0.jpg (620x395, 67K)

I can somewhat agree. High with Danny Brown, Bomb with Raekwon, and to a lesser extent Robes with Domo Genesis & Earl Sweatshirt are the best featured songs on Pinata; but still pale to the 1-2-3 punch of Freddie & Madlib songs Shitsville, Thuggin, and Real.
This album just delivers the the constant collab between the two throughout, but in a more laid back, and slightly experimental manner.

As cliche as it sounds, weed does wonders.

he always just struck me as being a savant. he's been doing this for so long i think it'd be obvious if he'd been doin it. seems like the dude never stops working

He’s a fucking transcendental beatmaker

At least compared with Madvillainy, Madlib's best collabs have minimal features, mainly focusing on the chemistry of him and rapper.

qwawds

This.
Almost every near-perfect or perfect album of our generation has been influenced by the plant.
HOWEVER, most that use (and abuse) the plant will never go on to do anything with their life.

You’re underage and cringe.

true dat, keeping it to one voice and delivery style lets his beats shine

exactly
this boomer shit is terrible

>Half Manne Half Cocaine does not sound like a madlib beat

because it's not, Frank Dukes is credited.

freddie on his rnb fix on a couple tracks here, dig it. he also switched up his flow numerous times which I appreciate. thought the beat switches were fine for the most part. features was sparse, but gave just enough added spice to the album. also, hearing yasiin on a track again and together with bt was amazing. given the cover and promos I would have loved to hear quas on a track though. would be sick if they did like a bonus track with quas on vinyl or some shit like that.

bump for the east coast streaming bros

First half of Half Manne/Coke sucks
Second half of Fake Names sucks
Practice is boring
Gat Damn rappers need to stop singing
Soul Right has an awful boring lame beat Fred does nothing with it too

7/10 rest is pretty solid

Attached: 1548895126733.jpg (758x644, 64K)

>half mane half cocaine

oh shit, i really wasn't expecting a trap beat from madlib

see

>tfw i wanna download it but am too much of a pussy because i'm afraid of getting caught
