There is nothing pretentious or wrong with admitting that classical and jazz is the peak form of music in terms of both taste and aesthetics.

I view classical music as a gourmet meal from a restaurant with three Michelin stars.

Rock music is the equivalent of a decent fast food meal from say an In-N-Out, Chipotle or a Chick-fil-A.

Rap music is frozen food, it's barely edible and is enjoyed primary by low income and low IQ people.

aesthetically I swear to god Jazz is the classiest. It’s like any other genre though, only 10% of it or so is actually any good.

heres the final realisation though
genres and styles are stupid bullshit and music is music

I agree with the original statement classical and jazz are the most musically advanced, but they both lack poetry

poetry isnt music
bob dylan isnt comparable to charlie parker in any way, despite the fact that they are both good

christmas music is the best music and if you don't have christmas music in the usic you listne to then you don' t have good music

Jazz isn't nearly as good as the best of classical.

>music is music
Too bad it's not always that simple and that's a far too simplistic view. "Music is just music" works only in some rare cases.

I didn't mean to imply that poetry was music, they are two completely separate art forms. However music alone cannot convey ideas, you need words for that

The very best of rap music, something like Nas's Illmatic would be comparable to pic related.

It's nice for what is it but it is still frozen food at the end of the day.

I personally haven't heard any jazz that reaches Scriabin's otherworldly piano soundscape, his virtuosity and spirituality, his avant-garde-like borderless relationship between life, art and philosophy that speaks out in his works; however I am looking forward to listening to this though and I am definitely looking into getting back into jazz more seriously, thanks.

>However music alone cannot convey ideas
sure but it can convey more emotion, which is far more fun

It can, but only under certain (mostly cultural) circumstances. Text isn't always necessarily needed. Look into musical gestures, tropes, topics and semiotics if you're interested in that sort of thing.

this reminded me that i need to listen to more scriabin
thanks aswell

Posting my favourite Scriabin sonata just in case
youtube.com/watch?v=JE-riazUvJE

I agree, I listen to romantic era composers 80% of the time, the emotion and virtuosity they put into their works blows my mind even after listening to the same song over and over. But you still can't have a political concerto

oh yeah i misread your post lol

60 IQ post

classical is the most normie friendly genre prove me wrong

You've just lost 20 IQ points

it's up to you to prove why it is, since you are the one making the claim

first scriabin piece i heard actually
amazing opening
i always find it hard to argue with classicalposters when they pull out something incredible like scriabin, or rautavaara, or bach or something

love it when me and my normie friends blast bach's pedal exercises desu

Kendrick Lamar's GKMC is definitely the equivalent of Mi Goreng, it's cool to consume if you're say a student on a budget who can overlook the high sodium content and added MSG so it's fine if you're just looking to tame your hunger quickly, but it can never satisfy you like a good home cooked meal or even a decent fast food sandwich such as the McChicken™

I'm really glad you like it!
I mean at the end of the day it isn't a competition; you like what you're used to. It's hard (and very stupid) to dismiss exceptionally sounding and well-crafted intricate works of music - and that goes for all genres obviously.

scriabin symphony no 2 in c minor op 29 is definitely the equivalent of Mi Goreng, it's cool to consume if you're say a student on a budget who can overlook the high sodium content and added MSG so it's fine if you're just looking to tame your hunger quickly, but it can never satisfy you like a good home cooked meal or even a decent fast food sandwich such as the McChicken™

i wont because youre right

I want to eat a whole cassette tape just to prove you wrong

I dont hate classical music, its just very hard to get into and very few songs peak my interests.
