Hello Yea Forums, absolute musiclet here...

Hello Yea Forums, absolute musiclet here. I have been called 'boring' and 'tasteless' by so many people in my life so I have decided to get into music. What should I listen to?

whatever you want.

Cut the foreplay and start listening to baroque/classical/romantic music

Sad music.
:(
Because you are a sanimu.

Listen to Cross by Justice all the way through

Even a complete musiclet can appreciate that album

Not being able to enjoy music or being interested in it to the point you actively research new music that interests you is not a reason to be ashamed. There are different things in life.

.

Try Deadwing by Porcupine Tree and Beyond the Outer Loop by Ochre

Also if you're thinking seriously about getting into this hobby, try visiting chart threads and generals.
Make your own chart even if its trash as fuck.
Get laughed at, improve from there, take some recs. Don't be afraid to listen to many genres at once. Always remember the status quo - if vibrating air makes you feel nice then it's good

If you want to get into good music then stay away from this board. Everyone here has awful taste

What do you listen to now?

in all complete honesty, I'm not sure.

I don't know what your musical taste is like and what your preferences are.

All I can tell you is go far and wide with whatever albums to listen to. hell, you can even check out some albums from rateyourmusic, find some charts from chart threads here or find Yea Forumscore charts.

the important thing is that you find inspiration from the music that you're listening to. whatever you listen to, think about what feelings that the music is compelling you to think about. if the music you're listening to is compelling you to think about a feeling and any memories related to that feeling, then that music "clicks" with you. keep in track of what albums click with you and base your recommendations on what can click with you and what has yet to click with you.

king crimson - discipline
talking heads - remain in light
velvet underground - white light white heat
brian eno - here come the warm jets
can - future days

this is a gateway to patricianhood

Literally nothing.

This is good advice, thanks.

Also another one, if you play vidya - listen to OST outside of vidya, remember what it made you feel. Immerse in listening, buy proper headphones/speakers (you can find proper sennheisers/superluxes really cheap). Realize yourself as energetic being in the universe full of energy. Absorb positive energy from music and spread it to others, get rejected. Absorb negative energy, radiate it like a fucking SSS tier Quasar. Get sad, listen to sad music, realize yourself as a proper shoegaze and atmoblack listener. Buy some merch, go outside, get talked to publicly by random people making remarks at your merch, smile and thank them and then realize you've got cold sweat running down your spine cause youre not used to social interaction.
WELL YOU KNOW HOW IT GOES.

just the Yea Forums essentials and write down the stuff you liked and then explore

you tell them to go fuck themselves and listen to whatever you want. if you want to.

Listen to nothing but old school death metal until you die.

chart threads and Yea Forumscore is a good way to start imo. From there find genres you like and use charts or something like RYM to find more.

If you get into music people are more likely to call your music either boring or weird. Your motives suck.

I personally started simiarly, having 0 taste but quite some interest in art in general (just not music specifically). I started by going through the Yea Forumscore chart, which worked out for me because I dipped on it pretty fast, but I wouldn't recommend crafting your taste around it. It just so happened that I was quickly attracted to more fucked up music, so it was easy to find stuff for myself. If you're not the same, well, you run into the risk of becoming a Weezer or Ween or Vampire Weekend fan. Stay strong.

Yeah I just checked out the thread. Not really into most of the stuff the other anons are into though...

I just look at the album art desu. For example I just stumbled across Holographic Universe. The artwork is pretty good.

>people say i'm tasteless
>what should I like?
Falling before the first step friendo.

>Deadwing by Porcupine Tree
Whoa, whoa, hang on a second...
That album emotionally fucks you really, really hard, while I love it, I wouldn't recommend it to a new listener. Each time I listen to it it hurts me quite a lot.
Steven Wilson might be a good start. I discovered him quite later, but I love how it can have some really simple pop songs and also complex compositions on the same album.
Listen to his solo albums, from the last one to the first one, then check what influenced him to do the music.
