syd was a liability
It was his band. The played his songs, and he was the most talented of the group. The group's sound changed completely once he was gone. They should have just called themselves something else once they kicked him out.
The band was literally way better without him
>the most talented of the group
meh. talent is nothing. now ambition and discipline, on the other hand..
Sure but Pink Floyd was a good name and they were way better once he left.
Syd was by far the worst member of Pink Floyd. Even worse than Nick Mason.
youtube.com
He literally produced better music himself than pink floyd ever made without him
glad people agree that black sabbath needed ozzy though
bahaha that sucks
if he was so good why isnt he some brian eno super prolific genius, but some tragic character instead?

>shits on his own band in a song and they dont even realize it
He's our guy
people arent agreeing on shit. just ignoring that garbage. discussing the band that matters.
Because he got fucked up on drugs and became retarded? Why do you think Ozzy isn't regarded as one of the best singers ever? Because he got fucked up on drugs
youtube.com
Does this suck? This is some Jimi Hendrix type shit, except Syd could actually sing too
thats why talent doesnt matter. a fuckup in a band fucks up the band. no one likes a liability, bands are professional endeavors done by adults, cant behave, then go home.
He literally made the band. After he left, they tried to copy him. You honestly think Rogers shit political lyrics are as good as the genius compositions Syd made? Please raise your IQ
sorry but i listened to all the syd youtube links in this thread and couldnt find a single fucking tune. they explored the repetitive psych stuff in the early albums and thats enough.
big man pig man
>virgin Syd gets too fucked up, doesn't play, fucks around with the band, brings everything down
>chad Ozzy is fucked up everyday, no problem, absolute legend
dunno why youre doing this fake trolling, but yeah, guy talented but not suitable for a band, case closed.
Tune? What the fuck are you on about? Syd's guitar playing, lyricism, and singing is miles ahead of any other member of that band.
>muh stoner pop
oh man i love death grips
>case closed
You gonna /thread your own post there too?
dio sabbath was great you idiot
(You)
>unironically liking dad rock
Get off this board old man
Interstellar Overdrive sounds nothing like Jimi
Literally sounds like Hendrix could be playing that.
Maybe when Jimi was four years old
syd was thrown out for being fucking insane. he's only on their first two (shit) albums
i agree a bit more with sabbath, but come on, heaven and hell? dehumanizer? those are fucking awesome
If you listen to Dave Gilmour talking he says Roger wasn't that big a deal, nobody had heard of them while he was in the band.
Pink Floyd without Syd is still Pink Floyd, but Pink Floyd without Waters isn't.
Pink Floyd existed before Syd
Produced by Gilmour unironically
When did you guys grow out of your "Syd Barrett isn't a hack" phase? For me it was 16.
>ever thinking he was a hack
i had better taste when i was 14 than you ever will lmao
>t. 15 yo
Their two first are their best though
Floyd without Wright* isn't
>ftfy
their best album is Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Dio is better than Ozzy
Schizophrenia.
Pink Floyd without Syd is shit...
hella shit
Syd Barrett just made somewhat weirder versions of music already out under the guise of being "experimental." He tried to emulate the Beatles without being completely conscious of it. He was so passionate about being extremely experimental but his music ended up being really tame regardless. People only care about him for the fact that he was a good looking charismatic dude who tragically fried his brain and became a fat bloat, all while his band went on to record some of the most famous albums of all time. Only Yea Forums contrarians who were woo'd by Syd's charismatic appearance think that the Syd era of Pink Floyd was better than the Gilmour Era.
is the grateful dead the grateful dead without jerry Garcia?
Without Syd they wouldn't have made music about Syd leaving.
Floyd are by most people defined by their post-syd records while sabbath pretty much is Ozzy, so you can’t put these two cases up against eachother user :^)
fucking based
