Howdy, ive been having to lurk at work for the last few days since 4chen blocked my phones IP range from posting, I created pic related the other day (with alot of help from chartanon) and been enjoying the response from meal but i also noticed the criticisms- mainly too much doom (and you're faggots for that but whatever) I didnt make this with a specific theme in mind other than genres i personally like but since its so well recieved i figured I could make another roll chart that is more diverse. With that said let's get down to business: >What should the 10 genres be on the chart? I can already tell that Stoner, Trad, and maybe sludge are going to be axed and/or mixed. You're going to have to fight me to remove the Gothic Doom and Funeral Doom but ill go by what the community wants at the end of the day since this doomy chart already exists. As much as i like seeing chartanon fish for albums from meal and getting shit on for it, im going to use my method which is starting off with the top 100 albums from said genre on RYM, and then afterwards ask for replacements, i feel it will be quicker and less flooding this way.
My initial thought is to replace the traddoom with the trad metal chart that was recently created by chartanon and friends, but then we'll have to find a home for bands like Candlemass and Trouble
Personally I think the best thing would be to expand it to a point where the major genres are represented equally. There is obviously too much doom as it takes up half the chart, but a full tech death chart for example could easily be added. Black metal could obviously be split between first and second wave and that's not even considering sub genres like dsbm and nsbm and atmo/dissoshit and there's some really cool experimental metal that could potentially make up a category, stuff like Wormlust and Sigh. I don't give a fuck about gothic doom though.
James Perry
Also there are no traditional/ NWOB heavy metal, or power metal charts and although I don't listen to these much I find it weird because they have substantial fanbases in /metal/. Even glam idk. With the current setup there's literally a 50% chance you'll roll doom and it should be roughly random. Even death/doom or war metal would offer some variety. Actually a war + black/death chart would be easy to fill out
Robert Watson
Alright this google form should help out in finding what the people want pastebin.com/7kBH8vrc
Zachary Garcia
>starting off with the top 100 albums from said genre on RYM, and then afterwards ask for replacements why didn't i think of this?
Nathaniel Morales
That's it. We're working on a Technical / Brutal Death Metal Chart RIGHT NOW! Caverncore included would be a good idea. imo. We are going to use this chart as a template to replace albums with. Give me the best Technical / Brutal Death Metal Albums along with some Caverncore to add to the chart.
Who wants this War Metal chart added to the Roll Chart? I think it look very cool.
Liam Jenkins
1. Heavy metal (old stuff and NWOBHM) 2. Thrash (crossover and groove included) 3. Death (all death) 4. Black (all black) 5. Doom (trad, funeral, drone, some stoner e.g. Cathedral) 6. Power (speed included) 7. Progressive (including avnat bullshit) 8. Sludge (post-metal included, some heavier stoner e.g. Bongripper) 9. Folk (viking, celtic included) 10. Alternative metal (nu-metal, funk metal, industrial)
Only missing stuff is gothic. I honestly don't know what to do with that.
Gavin Miller
It does work but I don't have a google account. Sorry. I'm this guy btw
Tyler Cook
I changed it so anyone can answer, google is gay as fuck. I really like your idea, it makes things alot more simple than to fish for responses, only issue would be to make the fusion charts but i guess that's what chartanon has been doing
Gothic could be combined with symphonic... i reckon it would be more accepted than alternative around these parts, but thats just me having a hard on for the genre
Hudson Campbell
This chart just got an extreme makeover. Jesus Christ.
you better not be the user who wrote the pasta about the chartanon. I'll post it here again and make fun of you.
Adam Hernandez
Fuckin kill yourself you fucking retard, you fucking thread ruiner, you fucking redditard, you fucking dumbass
Jonathan Garcia
You think you aren't being transparent, you stupid motherfucker? Every single fucking time someone calls you out on being a pathetic fucking attention whore you try to act as if they were right and you were going to stop instead of being confrontational so as to gain the sympathies of retards just to keep being fucking unbearably obnoxious the next fucking thread You aren't fooling anyone but yourself, you stupid motherfucker Stop spamming, stop being self-important, stop being a fucking retard (oh wait, you are actually fucking physically incapable of doing that) Even now that you mentioned (again, just to feel like you have any sort of relevancy because no fucking body gives an ounce of a motherfuck about you in real life) that "ohhhh everyone has filtered me" you suddenly "drop your trip" for no fucking reason, just so people can still see your irrelevant fucking nonsensical blabber Get banned from this website, sucker, and then kill yourself so that you get banned in real life too Fuck off and fucking DIE
Brandon Wilson
I don't know what that guys problem is. He's causing nothing but trouble and never replies to people for some reason.
We should probably rework the Death Metal chart and get rid of any death/doom and caverncore albums on it. We don't want to have the same albums on different charts.
The same thing can be said for Black Sabbath. Do we keep it under Traditional Heavy Metal or Traditional Doom Metal? This is important.
Ryder Mitchell
I just got rid of most of the death/doom, technical/brutal, and caverncore albums from the Death Metal chart. Try finding more old school death metal albums to replace them with. If we are doing this, it has to be done right the first time.
We have a melodeath chart already. DoomAnon was working on it
Xavier Garcia
I just got rid of Black Sabbath on the Traditional Heavy Metal Chart. We REALLY need to decide on this. People will go fucking apeshit if we don't come to a decision. Again, I cannot stress this enough. Pay attention.
I think you should get rid of the more traditional death and death doom metal that don't belong on this list imo. (Infester, Dead Congregation, Incantation, Molested)
Also i think you could add: Reign Suprem - Dying Fetus The rest of Gorguts discography exept for Considered Dead Replace Necrobreed - Benighted by Icon, Identisick, Asylium Cave and Isane Cephalic Production Also some bands recommandation: Ulcerate Atheist Decapitated Fallujah Blotted Science Job For A Cowboy - Sun Eater ? (Not sure if i consider this as Technical Death but do as you pleased)
Angel Gomez
Why is Active Stenosis on a brutal death metal chart? If you really need one of those gorenoise bands LDOH would be a better fit. Putrefaction in Progress is brutal as fuck. youtube.com/watch?v=68VUrXL0uqs
Landon Butler
The idea was to combine the Caverncore and Technical/Brutal death metal albums all into one chart. Death/Doom will have its own chart. Does that make sense? If people really don't want Caverncore on it, fine. I just thought the chart looked amazing with Caverncore on it along with the other albums. Should Caverncore be added back to the Death Metal chart instead?
Isaac Harris
Active Stenosis are neither caverncore nor technical(lol)/brutal death metal.
Hunter Clark
Thanks for your suggestion. Keep in mind, these charts aren't perfect and you pointing this out helps us all. I will remove them from the chart. Once again, thank you.
Jordan Rodriguez
I'm going to emphasize this post. Do exactly what this guy is doing and look for albums that don't belong on certain charts.
Now that I think about it, I think the Caverncore albums should be removed and placed back in the Death Metal chart instead. It makes more sense. I'll update the chart soon.
Henry Howard
sabbath is heavy metal, not doom
Gavin Fisher
Caverncore has been added back to the Death Metal chart. Put all Caverncore suggestions here instead.
oh fuck i forgot to remove Active Stenosis ignore this
Robert Powell
Pseudogod, Angelcorpse and Order From Chaos should be moved to black metal. DVC and Miasma to death metal. I fuking hate seeing my favorite albums on this chart.
Levi Cox
checked. I told you, it's not going to be easy. We have to keep an eye on this shit. Keep it up.
Oliver Hernandez
I also have to make a new black metal chart. This is going to take time, but it will be done eventually.
John Lopez
What the world really needs is a brutal surf rock crossover chart.
Jace Phillips
could you please include the word "metal" in your post at least once so this shit gets filtered and i don't have to see it ever again? thanks
lmao how the fuck doesn't the OP have the word Metal mentioned in it once out of all words?
Elijah Cox
>Sabbat, Master, and Ripping Corpse in Thrash
Meh.
Christian Davis
Roll
Grayson Wood
Roll
Liam Scott
where are the final charts going to be posted
Grayson Murphy
I don’t know. I’ll probably make a separate thread and post all the charts I made so far so everyone can save them.
Robert Flores
the dark northern sands and oceans vast, the moon and sun become as one the harlots run along on the frozen beach the grim waves of catastrophe reflect my hate *blastbeat* this is huh, wow... and I forgot my sunscreen long agooooo
yeah, get rid of Drowning the Light - Alignment of Dead Stars, The Black - The Priest of Satan and the Ildjarn album
replace them with: Arckanum - Fran Marder Arckanum - Kostogher Abigor - The Twilight Kingdom
Cooper Edwards
>Lacuna Coil >Doom Metal We adding Evanescence as well?
Chase Johnson
1. 2nd Wave Black 2. Thrash 3. OSDM 4. Power 5. Grindcore 6. Folk/Viking 7. Doom 8. Sludge/Stoner 9. Trad 10. Gothic
Carson Hill
actually fuck it, i don't know 10 isn't enough
Camden Smith
It has to be 10 for the chart to work
Grayson Russell
fine
1. Thrash 2. Black (2nd wave) 3. Death (osdm, technical, melodic etc.) 4. Trad 5. Doom (funeral, death doom, Gothic, trad doom) 6. Sludge/Stoner 7. Folk/Viking 8. Prog 9. Power 10. Grindcore
Owen Hughes
Why aren't you going for 20 genres? You can use the second to last digit as a "odd/even" counter
Eli James
The file size limit would probably be reached if we tried that.
Jordan Bailey
Trad Power Thrash Grindcore Prog Folk Sludge Stoner OSDM Tech Death / Brutal Melo Death Death/Doom Doom Gothic Funeral Doom Black (2nd wave) Black (1st wave) Industrial Nu Metal / Rap Metal / some other fag shit Other / Alternative / Crossover
Interesting. We will have to wait for DoomAnon to decide if he wants to add 20 genres.
Ryder Johnson
Black Atmospheric black Folk / viking Death Doom Sludge / Stoner Thrash Heavy / speed / NWOBHM Grindcore Melodeath
David Wilson
>zero Pink Floyd, BOC, King Crimson
Lacks colour.
Leo Lee
I think it would look better
Hudson Baker

Ryan Sanchez
Merciless - The Awakening
Also if you're making another chart for Death/Doom, I thing dead congregation belong in here with incantation
Michael Scott
Blut Aus Nord - MVII DIaogue With The Stars Drastus - La Croix De Sang
Instead of Dodsferd ans I Shall Become
Robert Wilson
I don’t know. I think all caverncore should go on the death metal chart. Bands like Autopsy, Cianide, Winter, etc. Belong on a death/doom chart.
Charles Green
Autopsy and Incantation are death metal not death doom
Christopher Wilson
I think bands like Merciless, Master, Massacra, Incubus Should go into the Death Metal chart.
Also You should add Sacrifice - Forward To Termination Testament - New World Order Overkill - Horrorscope Destruction - Infernal Overkill / Release From Agony
Hudson Cooper
I agree
David Martinez
I avoided putting death/thrash on the death metal chart. It belongs on the thrash chart.
Sebastian Sullivan
no it doesn't, death/thrash is more death metal than thrash just like death/doom is more doom than death metal
Jace Bailey
Do you want me to remove all the death/thrash from the Thrash chart and put it on the Death Metal chart?
Cooper Lee
albums like Pleasure to Kill and Epidemic of Violence are the deathiest albums that should be on the thrash chart. Massacra and Merciless in particular are very much mostly death metal bands
David Sullivan
no you dummy, only the ones that are clearly more death than thrash
Josiah Collins
this
Ryan Robinson
Tell me which albums, then.
Jaxson Davis
go back to the first dm chart and grab all the osdm from that. I also wouldn't include symbolic here lol
Carter Sullivan
I Like the idea of 20 Genre for more diversity in the sub genre.
OSDM/Caverncore War Metal Thrash Metal Death Doom Stoner Metal Black Metal (1rst Wave) Black Metal (2nd Wave) Black Metal (3rd Wave)/Black Death Atmospheric Black Metal Melodeath Grindcore Power Metal Trad/Heavy Doom Gothic Doom/Gothic Metal Heavy Metal Post Metal/Atmospheric Sludge Brutal Death/Technical Death Sludge Metal Hardcore/Crossover Progressive Metal
Isaac Flores
This too
Justin Morgan
Not the same guy but i've made this post. If someone's wanna add something else to that go for it.
Jordan White
I’m willing to make 20 charts. However, I don’t know if DoomAnon can combine them all together. I’m not sure how he does it.
Logan Roberts
rollins
Wyatt Taylor
I am that same guy and yeah you pretty much got it
Xavier Reed

Jaxson Miller

Lucas Anderson
begjnrobilmrjkhbjhevjoyrtkbhiegrivjhtior
Jaxon Anderson
Never did a chart in my hole life You have a template or something ?
Cooper Gomez
Look up Topsters2. You just search for an album and drag and drop it on a chart. It’s that simple.
Elijah Torres
Thanks, gonna start a death/doom chart
Juan Russell
Any suggestion is welcomed Gonna put The top RYM as Doomanon suggested
Ryan Williams
Anything is melted, they consider Gothic doom and funeral doom as part of the death doom so i'm making a selection
Oliver Baker
I’ll give you the essentials Autopsy Ceremonium Cianide Disembowelment Goatlord (I think) Winter
Carter Nguyen
One of you guys can work on the Power metal chart.
Brandon King
Someone else can work on a Folk/Viking metal chart.
I came here to roll and say, very nice /metal/, youre cringy retards but the chart is good
Anthony Scott
Rolling for BT Ima I kinda like the look of ours better Maybe our best option is to have 50 albums from 20 genres and to combine the charts? Still up for debate.
Also fill out the poll so we can gauge what is the most repected genres in meal
Dylan Scott
Possessed, Ripping Corpse.
Juan Hughes
Make War Metal Happen
Ayden Sullivan
I have a feeling it will be once its all said and done
Henry Adams
I think we have enough data to confirm that the following genres WILL be on the chart >2nd wave black >OSDM >Thrash >sludge >trad >power And the following will NOT >nu >deathcore >goregrind >Glam >metalcore With that being said ive seen alot of people say the sludge chart sucks and needs reworking, so i guess we should get started. Here is the previous sludge, what albums would you like to see removed, what albums would you like to see added
We are including War Metal. Just look at this chart. It will look very cool.
Caleb Scott
im off for a bit but will leave the form up until i get back ( forms.gle/KiAnSdTx52dBdZfT7 ) when i get back i will begin the 2nd round of voting and will use strawpoll instead of google since it seems all the genres are accurately represented and i wont need to edit answers
Ryan Morgan
please put the albums in chronological order for Christs sake
Ethan Walker
have sex
Jason Jackson
why don't you actually learn about metal genres sake because you obviously have no fucking clue what you're doing, take your shitty chart and fuck off you pathetic attention seeking cunt
Elijah Thompson
FUCK YOU I WONT DO WHAT YOU TELL ME
Eli Nguyen
nigger
Julian King
MOTHERFUCKER! UGH!
Luke Jones
What genre is this song again? Maybe we should add it to the chart.
Andrew Gomez
Boys i got an idea, after we make the essentials chart lets make an undesirables roll chart just to keep pissing off meal
This looks pretty good so far. I would remove: Dead Congregation Autopsy - Severed Survival Incantation All those bands are already on the death metal chart. They may have slow doom sections on them, but they are not considered death/doom as a whole.
Question to Doomanon, Do we separate Death Doom from Funeral Doom and Gothic Doom.
+ Krypts added
Hunter Nelson
Add all of these except for: Amorphis Cenotaph Gorement Fleshcrawl Funeral Incantation Krypts Skepticism The Chasm Thergothon Most of these are just death metal albums with slow doomy parts added to them. It can be very difficult to tell what is considered death/doom and what is death metal due to these certain doomy parts. Just listen to the tempo The tempo should remain slow throughout most the album to be considered death/doom. Just listen to Cianide, Disembowelment, Goatlord, and Winter as an example. The albums have a consistent slow tempo.
Justin Hill
Funeral Doom and Gothic Doom have their own charts.
Jayden Cooper
I'm going to emphasize this post again. Do not confuse certain death metal albums for death/doom.
Nathan Parker
rolling for something good.
Josiah Kelly
Are you really gonan have 8 Asphyx albums? I mean their a great band but they don't deserve to make up nearly 1/10th of the entire chart.
Bentley Diaz
Are you guys ready? I am about to post the Updated Charts.
>zero Pink Floyd, BOC, King Crimson The spots for psychedelic rock, downtempo and progressive rock were already taken by other artists. There isn't much I can do about it.
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the looks of my chart either, but I don't know how to improve it either.
Thomas Cox
>nu >deathcore >goregrind >Glam >metalcore Literally none of those except for glam metal are metal, so of course they don't belong on the chart.
Asher Jackson

Yeah, I was just saying it's gay. Also there are genres (like psych) which have multiple slots anyway. Like Boston's on there - nominally this was an *essential* list.
