they were shit until watershed

it's our fav death metal album

>Steven Wilson producing a death metal album
That was one of the biggest boners I have ever had. My favourite musician working with my favourite metal band.

My favorite album as a 13 year-old in a good way

Looks like I’ve found a twin

He he, just got Hand.Cannot.Erase yesterday, I'm listening to it right now.
Didn't like it that much at first, but it grows on me...

Easily the best Opeth album.

Great but Still Life is their best

>final track is the title track
>final line is the album title
Ok this is epic

The only good Opeth album

Fantastic album, probably their best. However Still Life comes very close.

an average opeth album. Ghost reveries, still life, my arms your hearse and morningrise are all leagues better.

Reddit

Nah, Ghost reveries and post-blackwater park albums are good aswell

How is this reddit?

objectively wrong Blackwater Park is their magnum opus, stop being a fucking contrarian you're not impressing anyone

Orchid is the best.

Testy test

My Arms, Your Hearse > Still life > Damnation > Morningrise >Ghost Reveries > Blackwater Park > Deliverance > Watershed > Heritage > Orchid> Sorceress> Pale Communion

this is my issue with non metal fans
this is not a fucking death metal album
stop pretending you know anything about this genre

my point exactly. All non-metal fans and sex-havers need to leave this thread at once

You're a complete fucking idiot if you don't think it has some death metal elements in it. People like you are the reason everyone hates metal fans. Fuck off with your bullshit elitism

Then what is it? I agree it's not PURE BROOTAL AMERICAN SLAM GORE PIGSHITVOCALS DEATH METUUUL, but it has enough of that genre. Overall, it's a masterpiece better than most death metal bands because it succeeds at what's really important: making good music.
I listen to whatever metal I want, mostly 80s stuff and black metal. Opeth just happened to be among my favourite bands. Never claimed to be a metalhead, never will, just listen to fucking metal from time to time.

i fucking hate this fedora-core metal

pic related their listeners (like all prog fans) want to be the kind of guy who sits in a leather chair and smoke a cigar while sipping scotch...but ends up sitting in his Gamer Chair while vaping and drinking a "local brew" or shitty IPA.

Do you hate the music or the fans? It's quite a difference.

both are gay

Explain what gay means to you.

when a pee pee go in da poo poo

Then, how is the music gay? It's literally sound waves, they don't go up in your ass.

no but they sound gay

just fucking kiss already

Not unless that user is a qt grill.

ok dad

Yeah, opeth is metal for people who don't like metal
Basic touristcore

except their better than nearly every death metal band, and that's coming from someone who's favourite genre is death metal

That doesn't mean is bad.

It's great. Bleak is one of the best songs they've ever written.

Of course not

DEVIOUS MOVEMENT IN YOUR EYEEEEESSS
Moved me from relief
BREATH COMES OUT WITHE CLOUDS WITH YOUR LIESSSSSS
And filters through me
You're close to the final word
You're staring right past me in dismay
A liquid sweeps from your chest
And drains me away
MIST RIPPLES ROUND YOUR THIN WHITE NECKKKKKK
And draws me a line
COLD FINGERS MARK THIS DYING WRECKKKKKKK
This moment is mine...
