You can't even ptractice your barre chords, you little pieces of poop

>tfw I could do a B flat barre chord and my guitar teacher who has been playing guitar for eighteen years couldn’t

You’re fired.

What the fuck did you just say to me you little shit? I’ll have you know I graduated first in my class with an A+ in barre chords

have secks

>B flat barre chord
how is that anything special? and how can anyone be such a manlet that he cant play it after 18 years?

Lead guitarists man, they suck ass. I asked if we could learn some Bert Jansch, he just couldn’t do it.

I’ve found a good folk fingerstyle player, he’s twice the price but it’s worth it for someone decent.

can't really blame "lead guitarists" for his incompetence. Does he even play with others or does he just noodle around at home? Just because you "main" lead guitar does not mean you can't be good at rhythm

He plays in several bands including a jazz one so he is good at lead, but he was having a laugh when he told me he could teach fingerstyle. What he did instead was keep trying to convince me to buy an electric and learn lead instead even though I am a fucking songwriter.

Based tweedle tutor thirer

I was a menace for my teacher because I always forgot to practice.

I tell my students practice 5 minutes a day and they still don't do it ....but they're all rich motherfuckers that do a million things and travel a lot

what do you need to know to teach guitar?

Ah, so this is why white guy with dreadnoughts playing at beach party/bbq/hostel is always so awful.

>go to guitar lessons as teenager
>random boomer from craigslist
>tell teacher i want to learn shoegaze and tvu/sonic youth style stuff
>he listens to a few songs of them
>says "ok well these guys use a lot of pedals. sounds like their cables might be broken though"
>clearly doesn't like it
>"eh you know what I got something cooler we can work on right now"
>gives me queen and eric clapton tabs

How to play guitar.

He’s correct in every respect.

I didn't ask you, old man
Blues licks aren't cool anymore, kids want to learn different shit.

wonderwall

Listen here punk, all you need to rock n roll are a few chords and the pentatonic scale. Anything else is prog wank or jazz. That's not rock, that's homosexual European cabaret shit. We keep it real, raw, and direct here in America. Rock n roll is 3 chords and an attitude. If you can't play the blues, you can't rock. Fuck your effects and fairy art wank.

I would love to teach sonic youth, but that's mostly experimenting with the guitar for 4-8 hours a day and not much else. students can't be bothered to practice for 5 minutes

guitar is dead, longlife computers

'Cause I'm lazy, fag :)

If you are teaching a friend for a few songs for free, literally the chords to a song.

If you intend to charge for your service then you should be a decent player, you should know a variety of styles, you should know basic theory including the notes that make up chords, music modes and time signatures and you should know all the scales. You should work out lesson plans, have material to give the student to practice, be patient and willing to adapt to their ability and willing to learn songs you don’t know or even like.

Probably because their parents force them to take lessons, and they don't enjoy it.

That's only if you want to sound like a mediocre guitarist. Songwriting is where it's at. Theory is shit.

I am a songwriter and I know basic theory which helps my songs not sound like shit.

not true, i had to unlearn theory to be a better writer

What a load of balls.

I never had lessons but I have the passion and drive and have been playing for a year, I can't put it down and I'm pretty good

Because learning guitar is very tedious and boring

It's not like practicing your basketball shot, which is fun

There are only two ways, or you learn a shit ton of music theory and analize songs or you simply go by ear. Diatonic Harmony is shit, and thats what most People refer when talking about music theory

>Because learning guitar is very tedious and boring

Only if you don’t want to learn it. Three chords and you can be singing some great songs, what’s boring about that?

I already play guitar, what do next for art hoe gf?

It's ironic because people like you probably need lessons so you don't learn things incorrectly (inefficiently) but the most people paying for lessons are doing so because they would never be able to put in all the effort to do it on their own.

I sometimes worry about this. I used to strum to the melody of vocals, but I've changed that. I pick alternately and my form is good so I'm not learning anything wrong.

Can confirm, I've played without instruction of any kind outside of reading tabs and listening to music for 13 years and I'm pretty ass desu

I still play all the time though.
