plebeians can't appreciate its richness and subtlety
Jpop's sound and aesthetics only have niche appeal in the West. Kpop is much more Americanized, and apparently is also pushed more aggressively overseas than Jpop is.
I don't Yea Forums in general cares much for kpop. It's just that there's no other appropriate board for k-pop fans to make k-pop generals. J-pop fans have /jp/
Japan does rock, mostly.
jpop is stuck in idol waifu ballad hell, while kpop has gone full edm and tropical house to bait SEA and latinos.
I think anime jpop is better than the "real" thing. Most recent Oricon chart video on youtube has Love Live at #4 and #3.
It's because whenever anyone makes a J-pop general or whatever, they're told to go to /jp/ and the few J-pop connoisseurs on this board will get their panties in a twist over "idolshit" and might even insist that J-pop is dead because there isn't a new generation of stars who parallel the previous generations, when literally the "idolshit" really IS the new generation, and if you post any "real J-pop" it's still "idolshit" if it's made by anyone born after 1980 or whatever. They want individual singers rather than groups and their music to have that oldschool sound and aesthetic, which just isn't done anymore nearly as much to begin with and the only reason is nostalgia. Nostalgia sells but not to "dude my waifu is the sexiest" kids, who spend the most money, so of course no record label is going to stake everything on nostalgia value. And new nostalgic J-pop is still made, it's literally still being made by both the old-timers and some new ones, but mention any new ones and you're told "REEE IT'S ALL IDOLSHIT". The new ones are just not becoming massive stars with huge influence on every single thing in the world, and they think that's a bad thing because apparently it means the old-timers who're still going are not going to be "replaced" by them when they retire, and will claim old-timers are still peaking in popularity and don't even want a new generation until it's too late. Basically Yea Forums is full of autists who use the continued popularity of some from the previous generation as proof that there is a current for it, but also justify their shitting on "idolshit" by it, which is the replacement that ALREADY HAPPENED. They just refuse to see it, they go "WELL LOOK AT MADONNA IN AMERICA" and close their eyes and ears while keeping their mouths so open that all the bullshit in the world can just stream in freely and they swallow it happily. Anyone born after 1980 is "idolshit", any groups are "idolshit", etc. to them. They're just idiots.

Is this pasta
No, don't make this into a pasta. I know saying that will only make you want to pasta it even more but it's not even a funny or autistic post so if it becomes pasta, it reduces the quality of all the other pastas in the pot. But why do people always try to make my non-autistic posts into pastas here and /jp/ when they're just statement of facts or opinions? I've made autistic posts and no one tries to make them into pastas, so what is it with my non-autistic posts that makes you guys want to pasta them? I just don't get it. One time I autistically spent hours analysing pics to determine if two girls were the same (the proof was inconclusive but I lean towards them being the same OR there being three girls in the pics of supposedly two girls, as equally likely, but of them being just two girls I'm not convinced) and made a chart detailing my findings, yet no one tried to make that into a pasta or ever reposted the pic that I know of. But I don't know, I don't go on /jp/ anymore because it's been infested by idiots who think flawed capitalism is better than either functional capitalism or non-capitalism systems just because of "muh virtue" and it's retarded and delusional. Capitalism whose chain of supply and demand rests on "higher virtue" for the "product", in this case idols, is inherently flawed as it milks incels who will take any excuse to drop a group or their oshi, and therefore they directly contribute to the market of "virtuous idols" negatively even if it's profitable at first. This is the paradox of virtue capitalism, it's bait after bait. With time it no longer works and eventually Japanese economy may collapse entirely if some "enlightened" capitalist incel will resort to pulling the apocalypse on the world stage, that idols are not inherently "pure" and that even the old J-pop stars may have been getting gangbanged but no one will ever know, and the mystery will drive both incels and teen girls to mass suicide out of despair.
No.
Wew
Hey user, what do you think of Twice?
Kpop just sounds like american pop/r&b/hip hop, of course normalfags are going to latch onto it. Jpop meanwhile is all cutesy and saccharine and therefore will only appeal to weebs, imageboard users and other autists (on the foreign market anyways) who are a small minority.
Never listened, probably never will.
Yea Forums is low IQ nowadays
>Are all the fans stuck on /jp/?
Pretty much.
>if you post any "real J-pop" it's still "idolshit" if it's made by anyone born after 1980 or whatever
Are the likes of Utada Hikaru, Shiina Ringo, etc. really considered to be idolshit?
>Utada Hikaru
1983 is only barely after 1980, and therefore she was not really "born after 1980" as she was already old enough to not be sucked into the "idolshit" when the first wave of "idolshitters" was truly born. Thus, she may as well have been born before 1980 and doesn't count.
>Shiina Ringo
She was born in 1978, which is certifiably before 1980.
>etc.
Name someone who was born after 1980 (for real this time) and I'll judge. But protip, you can't because they don't exist, unless they're some manufactured nostalgia dolls who never lived in the era they nostalgise. I don't think that's bad by the way, it's the majority here that do.
>if you post any "real J-pop" it's still "idolshit" if it's made by anyone born after 1980 or whatever
But early idolshit gave JPop a fucking lot. Which began somewhere at the end of 70's.
>early idolshit
But that's not "idolshit" as the retards mean it. It's this "UNFFF user-SENPAI O////O´´´ NO LEWD ALLOWED!!!!" who spend 24/7 on Twitter and pretend to be newborn babies with lesbian rabies but no concept of sexuality, whose social media presence is an integral part and often very autistic and go "goo-goo gaa-gaa" over each other and act all bubbly and sign their lookalike bodypillows that fat balding guys drag to shows like they didn't notice the cumstains.
Congrats, you managed to sound even more autistic than wotas.
OK, my mistake. Still, there are problems of today idols. Like shitty music that sounds all the same.
>jpop is stuck in idol waifu ballad hell, while kpop has gone full edm and tropical house to bait SEA and latinos.
How does Japanese music still remain wholesome and isn't infected by Western trends of irony and hipsterism?
