they're barely ranked. I enjoyed all of them a ton. this is to make no claims about whether others might also enjoy them, which i think is a weird goal to have when assembling a best-of-the-year list. out of curiosity, which of them would you consider non-contenders? or if it's easier, which would you consider contenders?
and as for the noise of art, idk anything about its pretension, i just like the way it sounds. sorry
I guess we follow some of the same labels (ex. No Rent, Taâlem, Hasana, Astral Spirits, Monorail Trespassing) and while I enjoy a lot of the stuff they put out (and support them) I usually end up listening to them just a couple of times. So I guess for me a "best" list should feature personal AOTY contenders and not just enjoyable/nice records.
