Why does Yea Forums hate dadrock?
Why does Yea Forums hate dadrock?
We all have daddy issues
Because it's lazy. No atmosphere. No meaning. Just guitar wankery.
fuck off boomer
because it's for the daddies and they stink doodoo in their poopoo
are you feeling it now, mr. krabs?
i hate cat stevens and i hate my dad
same depth as a tekashi69 song but not even half as fun
so you're a söyboy who likes shitty post-rock? got it
Good dadrock is good. Led zeppelin has more emotion than some shitty post rock band
mu is full of reddit zoomers
Because it's no different than the butt rock and bad pop of today.
reddit only likes pop and dadrock
havent you seen their top albums?
I sure don’t, the songs may seem cliche now, but back then they were completely new and had a new sound
Rock has had more influence on society than anything else, if it wasn’t for RUSH, UFO, Led Zeppelin, yes, or anyone else, we wouldn’t have classic rock channels on our radios, we wouldn’t have the scope of musical fidelity that we do today, it’s a much higher tuning than symphony orchestras or even blues and country, it’s hard driving it’s been used to give us memories of the past, to show us what life was like back then, rock isnt just an art work or a type of music, it’s a cultural phenomenon
overplayed and hailed as the peak of music by boomers because they grew up with it even though it isn't. dadrock fans tend to be dismissive of any other style of music, especially hip hop. a lot of dadrock is creatively bankrupt and on par with trap shit creatively, shit like aerosmith, kiss, ac/dc, motley crue are straight up brainless on the level of lil wayne or whatever. there's good classic rock, but shit like kiss and aerosmith aint it.
Very few people are going up to bat for KISS and Aerosmith around here. We're talking about good 60s/70s rock like The Beatles and Doors not that horseshit.
I don't hate dadrock as a whole, I just hate the cheesy dadrock like bad company, foreigner, asia, springsteen, billy joel, that shit.l
Springsteen may very well be the worst musical "artist" of all time
Yea Forums looooooooooves hipster dad rock like talking heads, eno, and velvet underground though.
>oh but it's not dadrock
if your dad went to an art school it would be
Talking Heads literally get played on the same classic rock station as fucking Foreigner and whatever else. Eno's work with U2 is also still in heavy rotation. And The Velvet Underground by the late 70s and 80s was heavily heralded by mags like Rolling Stone as one of the unsung great albums of the 60s and became very well-recognized by classic rock fans.
Billy Joel is kino though
npc
>"what's dadrock? wait, are you being mean about the beatles?"
pleb
>"dadrock fucking sucks"
patrician
>"there is nothing wrong with dadrock and everything wrong with rockists"
no he's not
Yes he is
My dad is a Mexican immigrant who listens to fat guys playing the accordion. The term dadrock to me always came off as bitter contrarianism from morons with daddy issues.
You ever irony poison yourself so hard that you convince yourself that top 40 pop music that has a corporate backed machine behind it is somehow more subversive than some kids in their garage playing a guitar
Well i didnt do that because im not a moron and i like my dad
are those even dadrock though
arent those more like... grandparock now?
not to say they're bad though; i like the beatles and the doors
Yea Forums loves dad rock unfortunately
pretty sure hip hop heads is the biggest music subreddit
Fucking kyuss such a good band
Zoomers are dumb
Why unfortunately?
Dad rock is based. Don't tell me you didn't eplaster to rock music with your dad, user.
are blink 182 dadrock?
Yes
All rock will be dad rock eventually to someone
ascended
>"there is nothing wrong with dadrock and rockism"
>People don't like what I like
>They soibois
>No atmosphere
>Lazy
What a load of horse manure. What's lazy about it compared to any other lame genre out there? Quite possibly the only challenging genres encompass jazz and western art music like classical, romantic, etc. You could call any genre lazy. YOUR CRITICISM IS LAZY FAGGOT
it's what I grew up with so I can never hate it
most of Yea Forums have dads in their 40s or 50s so they have no way to "get" classic rock that isn't shilled by p4k or rym
For whatever reason, I could never get into Kyuss. I really love Queens of the Stone Age and Monster Magnet however.
74% of Yea Forums demographics haven't finished high school
>tfw love my dad
>have long comfy talks where my dad explained his music taste to me
>we'll listen to an album, and he'll point out little things the musicians were doing
>comparing and contrasting stuff on the record we're listening to to other pieces of music
>he'll tell me funny stories from his past relating to the music, like the time he and his friend annoyed their college roommate by listening to the same Steely Dan album every night, or how he and my mom bonded over a mutual love of Bob Dylan
>most of Yea Forums will never experience this
rockism is garbage paranoiac boomer mentality that sees electronic and popular music as a threat to its existence so it frantically gatekeeps in order to survive
i mean evidently it was a threat to its existence since rock is in a pretty fucking sorry state right now
Tru.
It's not wankery, you just haven't learned how to listen to rock music yet.
This dumbshit board still doesn't understand what Dadrock is. It's not simply rock music your dad listens to. The term specifically defines the light and inoffensive 70s AOR rock that suburban male boomers came to enjoy as they moved into their 30s. Boston, Bob Seger, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Foreinger, etc. AC/DC, KISS, Aerosmith aren't dadrock.
If you must update the term to include what dads of zoomers listen to, Goo Goo Dolls, Nickelback, Creed, etc probably qualitfies.
>Talking Heads literally get played on the same classic rock station as fucking Foreigner and whatever else.
Bullshit.
STFU BOOMER
burning down the house, and she was, wild wild life, take me to the river, road to nowhere, psycho killer, once in a lifetime get radio play occasionally. burning down the house is the most likely to get played on a dadrock station.
I absolutely have heard "Burning Down the House" and "Once in a Lifetime" on my local classic rock station
Yea Forums loves weezer and oasis though
Weezer's not dadrock. Too nerdy and still too relevant to be full dadrock.
Oasis is a meme on Yea Forums, I highly doubt they're "loved"
First 2 albums are popular. It might be the Britbongs though. Oasis has haters here but it's always controversial if you criticize them.
My dad unironically loves Oasis and he's 53 and American as can get kek
