This. It's just lo-fi slowcore.

compare this to the abject depression and glacial pace of early low, bedhead, idaho, codeine, etc. It doesn't fit. It's lazy thinking.

how is it slowcore when most of the best songs aren't even that slow?

this album is depressing in a warm, comforting heroin hug kinda way. but it's still not slow.

The album isn't too far removed from something like Bedhead. They're not the same thing but they're not as different as you make them out of to be. Yes Duster was more atmospheric and lo-fi but compare some of these tracks

Slowcore is more of a spectrum than anything. A band like Bedhead has noisier parts and more upbeat parts of their music but no one would argue they're not slowcore, so I don't see a reason to reject the description for Duster.

Using your criteria, one could consider Radiohead slowcore. They certainly have multiple slow, depressing songs.
Duster are too far on the spectrum. Those songs you included have a direct depressive theme that Duster don't often express.
