i can see why some people would like Korn and i do get the points that you're making. i actually used to be really into Korn when i was younger and i still think their music doesn't sound terrible or anything. i just don't believe there's very much substance to it. it has many poorly written, poorly thought-out lyrics with shit like...

you do make a point with Nirvana having a lot of 'poser' fans and i agree with you that Nirvana's fanbase is cancer. i strongly dislike how when i say i like Nirvana, people are going to assume i also like shitty, terrible bands like Green Day or Fall Out Boy. to say Kurt Cobain himself was fake would be wrong though. i think it's pretty clear his depressed nature wasn't fake, considering that he committed suicide.
Nirvana has substance to me because the lyrics to many of the songs are very well thought-out, like in Serve the Servants for instance. there's a lot stuff that can be broken down and analyzed in that song. he also had a very unique writing style, using lots of strange imagery often involving anatomy.
Korn comes across to me as just being too edgy without much substance and it is a shame because i don't think their music sounds terrible and i would like them significantly more if there was more substance to them.
overall, i understand your points and where you're coming from, and i agree with some of your statements and disagree with others. sorry if i rambled on or anything.
