Perfectly dark. The loss of trust in the world, the horrible drawing back of the veil. The atmosphere is a mix of frustrated anger, an almost autistic bout for escape, and a Convoluted sense of loss.

This has nothing to do with the hearkening of bad things to come, but rather, the worst has already happened, and are trying to make sense of the broken things that are left.

No matter how deep The Abyss of your soul is; When you are there, there’s always Antimatter, a bit below, playing a song about something even worse, in an even darker place.

This album is the antithesis to love songs, and a genuine “Fuck you!” to the expectation of Romantic submission within human relationships.

“It was a business doing pleasure with you!”

Hesitantly using the term eclectic, it is however very apt for this album.

A journey through the story of man’s greatest achievements, and the inevitable demise that awaits us at the end.

Leaving one to wonder if it really was worth all that effort, and if we're not better off floating in the quiet of the void.

Stranger, weirder than all their colleagues, Portal have no real equal in this world. The whirling riffs, staccato compositions are a soundtrack to queasiness and vertigo.

If you'd like to know what it would feel like to have your soul extracted from your body through your nose, this record is a good start.

Also: Time.

Creepy yet awesome. A sense of blood and moist rot permeates this record. The stifling damp atmosphere is broken through by bouts of aggressive riffing, but the jungle always takes over again.

Immerse yourself into its atmosphere and don’t bother with categorization, because you'll fail. It’s much better than the sum of its parts.
