>Massively over-celebrated in my lifetime. I enjoy the first record and "Four Enclosed Walls," Metal Box is ... fine, I don't know if I need all 8 minutes of "Poptones." It's just the thing of when you have this captive audience that only knows the first thing you do, and then you introduce them to all these other musical ideas and bands you like by imitating them, you know Can all that stuff. It works and it's its own thing but you compare it to what they were actually trying to accomplish, and it's pretty mediocre. If that makes any sense. It's one of those bands people love to say they "get" and I'm dubious of any band who has that whiff of snooty artifice to it, whether it's technical or conceptual. Like Faust or Harmonia or that crap.
This guys so fucking annoying thank god he fucked off

I find it so weird how he dislikes certain bands that should be right up his alley.
John Miller
Public Image ltd. is schizophrenic avant-garde
Noah Turner
I wish he had given more examples of bands Pil has imitated, I fucking hate Can but I love Pil.
Carson Anderson
what does that even mean
Jack Thompson
Based, except faust is good. I actually agree wholeheartedly but i dont like this guy
Landon Hughes
it means the genre of music that Public Image Ltd makes
Asher Parker
>This guys so fucking annoying thank god he fucked off He doesn't even know that Daddy is BACK. Cry about it p4k babby.
Andrew Nguyen
It's really not. If you engaged with music on more than a surface level and were actually living through it you would see that what he likes/dislikes is very coherent and makes a lot of sense. It's not just about how something sounds.
Adam Hughes
Name someone that takes music MORE seriously than this guy, like jesus christ
Zachary Hernandez
That's why he's so based unlike every other fucking poser.
Eli Collins
Why should I care about artists and scenes of the past? It's the music that's been left behind.
Mason Cooper
Because you can't fully understand the music/take it at it's value without context. It doesn't and never will exist in a vacuum. That includes current context and the context of it's day.
Alexander Martin
If you knew a thing or two about older music you'd realise that certain things in modern stuff are tired lazy retreads of records from over 40 years ago which in turn would help you to appreciate the genuinely innovative non-emperors new clothes tier aspects of modern music
Camden Barnes
He kind of has a point about Metal Box. The first three songs after Albatross are excellent but after that it's only like a 6.5/10
Zachary Morgan
My issue with Ott is he always can't separate the musician from the music.
He's given William Basinski shit for possibly malicious marketing strategies. Same with death grips while they've put out some good records he still despises them for the things they do outside of their music, while not giving their music their credit due.
