The only reason this CRAP album is getting praised is because it's by a mediocre white man and society is misogynist as fuck. And it only sold at all because of Father's Day, otherwise it would barely have 10k copies sold. That and all the Madonna haters are purposely buying it just to fuck with Madonna. Madonna's Madame X deserves the #1 spot and is the real album of the year. Medellin literally has 25 million streams on Spotify. Bruce Shit-steen has no hits and his album is boring as shit. Boring hasbeen should have stayed in the 80s.

His albums of original material from time out of mind have been good, but he’s really tanked his reputation as a performer by both singing incomprehensibly and altering his songs to the point they’re unrecognizable. The reason Bruce still has a big audience is because when he performs he sings most of the songs everyone loves and sings them the way he’s sung them for years. Dylan goes onstage, doesn’t even try to sing in a coherent vocal melody, and plays his songs in a completely unrecognizable format that sucks the power out of them. There’s nothing wrong with altering song arrangements drastically if they’re in a cool way (like his rolling thunder tour) but he ruins them.
Juan Flores
As someone who considers Bruce a decidedly lesser artist than Dylan, I nonetheless will give the man credit for caring about his fans who pay good money to see him perform while Dylan appears to hate the audience and wants to deliberately fuck with them.
Luis Wilson
Dylan also smoked and drank like a fish for years. That probably wasn't so good for his physical well-being especially his throat while Springsteen takes excellent care of himself.
Dominic Long
Neil Young has made some ok stuff in the 21st century as well (maybe not so much Living With War)
Logan Cox
Those 80s stadium rock cliches are so embarrassing and dated, but it's all boomers know.

I may as well listen to Foo Fighters, it's pretty much the same thing.

It's not. The last truly good Bruce album is Nebraska. Born in the USA is okay at best, dreadful at worst 80s stadium rock pop crap and he hasn't put out a single good song since then

>I don't get why he's doing well at this stage of his career Well for one thing, Springsteen never based his image and songwriting around sexuality which tends to not work so well past a certain age.
Blake Baker
most people who appreciate bruce springsteen are fat old men who live in the midwest and haven't had a working dick in 20 years
Dominic Garcia
I mean, honestly the guy never embarrassed himself the way late career Madonna did. The midlife crisis she experienced in the 2000s was absolutely comical and unfortunately the Madonna that Millenials know is the one that kissed Drake in an attempt to steal his life force and whipped out her disgusting sagging old tits onstage.
Jaxon Ross
They're all bitchy gay dudes so you figure why the fanbase is like this.

embarassing it's like they can't fathom an artist who is successful at all without having to slog over promoting and inflate sales and whore themself out in the press

Literally bruce did 0 promo for this record whereas madonna and her label have spent tens of millions trying to prop up an embarassing trend-chasing dud

I told you. Madonna pretty much screwed herself over forever by being an aging hag who won't grow the fuck up. She attained meme status quite some time ago.

Remember when Madonna created the trends instead of rode them?
She's always been a douchebag and while you can get away with it as a 20-something, by 60 nobody wants to deal with it anymore.
Brody Richardson
the sad part is bruce would still play to more people in 2 nights in giants stadium than if every date of madonna's 50 concert US tour sold out
Brody Perez
How embarrassing
Henry Harris
>does a duet with some young Colombian singer >he delivers most of the energy on the track while Madonna sounds bored as fuck
Cooper Anderson
She also told Vogue Italia that all modern pop music is boring and sounds identical. Which just makes her look old and out of it.
Anthony Johnson
what do you expect? she just wants the rweggaeton crowd
the track where she mumble raps the start is worse
Carter Russell
Her entire schtick is obsolete anyway; since Pure Heroin made the notion of DIY bedroom pop mainstream, the idea of cartoony pop superheroes with alter egos has died out. If Gaga and Perry, both decades younger than Madonna, are washed up since 2013, what chance does she have?
Chase Nguyen
But Tempest, his last great album, came out in 2012
Wyatt King
Uh huh. Gaga and Perry were both living in the zeitgeist Madonna originally created but the change in pop in the last number of years has been pretty dramatic.
Julian Garcia
Ariana Grande is the last faded remnant of the now vanquished pop mega star style.
Connor Hill
Time Out of Mind is one of Dylans best no question

No surprise that a weathered old white dude with a guitar singing the blues and about America would hold up better than a weathered old white woman pretending anyone still wants her weathered old private parts.

this isn't about music this is about sports there is a sub-type of gays, that becomes obsessed with a diva, be it Madonna, Liza Minelli, or Maria Carey, and supports her the same way a straight person supports a sports club. It's just that instead of Real Madrid-Barcelona, for them it's something like Celine Dion vs Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston

Madame X is a triumph. I don't expect anyone on this board to understand Madonna's value, but the fact that she's still creating and experimenting should be met with a modicum of respect.
The thing is, most of Madonna's songs are duds, and none are even remotely introspective, but there are usually 1-2 (although sometimes none) each album cycle that are accidentally brilliant.
There are too few artists who continue to experiment, and disguise/reinvent their sound into their 60s.
Unfortunately, she put too much stock into her spectacle as the first-ever 'video star,' and now that she's unpleasant to look at, she no longer factors in. But whether you think her music is vapid or aimed at graying leather daddies on tina, Madonna is still the last of a generation to be experimenting with an earnest sense of curiosity -- with no drama, no addiction, no accusations, no crimes, no breakdown, no stopping.
Christian Wilson
lol
Camden Watson
Yeah, we know, but wasn't the cover of Springsteen's famed album his butt and bulge in tight jeans with an American flag behind him? Clearly he baited groupies, and boomer women continue to buy his music because they're attracted to him.
Whereas, straight men have never bought Madonna's music because they found her attractive. She was a handsome woman, and used shock value and needless gimmicks, but never packaged herself as the all-American Victoria's Secret bombshell.
Adam Lopez
>The thing is, most of Madonna's songs are duds, and none are even remotely introspective, but there are usually 1-2 (although sometimes none) each album cycle that are accidentally brilliant. cf. Rebel Heart
Ghosttown was quite a jam, but the singles especially Bitch I'm Madonna were completely embarrassing.
Thomas Fisher
this where as Bruce Springsteen has had no certified bops since the mid 80s
Oliver Watson
Thing is, he was never a singles artist except for that short period in the mid-80s.
Carter Sanders
Fine, we've established that she can still make an occasional decent deep album cut but she has no clue how to do singles anymore.
Angel Hughes
If maybe she'd quit trying to pretend 12 year old girls are going to be into a sexagenarian instead of Ariana Grande or something.
Ian Murphy
Yeah, I didn't like a single song from Rebel Heart.
It's too bad Yea Forums will never understand how massive Madonna was, or care, because her face is crooked and her later work is charmless without subtext. MDNA was panned by critics, but I found it to be one of her most captivating -- I guess in the same way this board now gloats about Farrah Abraham's My Teenage Dream Ended. Like a trained AI that's become obsolete, and the declining spectacle of an aging video star provides rich subtext, even if the music is compositionally foul.
Benjamin Cooper
True Blue [Sire, 1986] Music critics flock to her uneven product the way liberal arts magnates flock to investment banking--so desperate are they for a little glamor in their lives that they jump onto a zeitgeist that has nothing to do with them. She no more speaks for the average teen than Reagan does for union members (that's calling selling to, folks) and although the anti-abortion content of "Papa Don't Preach" fails to reach a definitive conclusion, it wouldn't make it bad even if it did. But in a time of collective self-deception, moral ambiguity is the last thing we need. B
