Well his first album is Time Has Told Me, and the first track is of the same name so I don't know why you think Day is Done is the first song. Does the dreariness of Day is Done bother you? Time Has Told Me, Thoughts of Mary Jane, and Man in a Shed are the most upbeat songs on that album. Maybe try those first.
