Is there any non messy jazz? Like music from that movie Whiplash?

there's ton of it

this is messy

Kenny G

Yes, I think you might be focusing too much on Free Jazz and stuff. Try things like Kind of Blue, Monk's Dream, Moanin', they all have a more straightforward-ish approach and sound great to everyone.

Also, ignore the Kenny G dude.

got em

Listen to Miles Davis Birth of Cool.

This is great. Thanks.

Bear in mind the track becomes more intense as it progresses, but the recs on Cool Jazz, Bebop and general early Big Band stuff might be right up your alley for a start.

What y'all think of Chet Baker in Milan?

Would you say this the most accessible jazz song for non-jazz listeners? I'm not a jazz listener at all but this song is beautiful. If anyone can recommend anything similar I'd be grateful.

So it's another great day for a jazz party, an especially great one cause the weather is rainy and dark. My dad is getting me a big tuna sub with banana peppers but I have to finish some job applications first. I'm going to an NA meeting again later but this one is only an hour so it's not so bad. Never been to this one before, I hope they have coffee. I listened to Herbie Hancock's Flood earlier and really loved the bass and the laid back vibe.

What are some other great jazz albums without horns? Bonus points if the drumming is as impulsive and subtle as pic related.

fuck yeah thanks man

I used to listen to this album all the time a few years back. Maybe some Chet Baker? He has a lot of very laid back stuff.

these applications are annoying. How am I supposed to remember the name of my supervisor at the job I had 2 years ago? the field was required and I literally put I dont remember. Pop's ain't giving me the sub till I finish these applications. Just put on Sonny Sharrock's Paradise.

Check modern UK stuff; Alfa Mist, Kamaal Yussef, Ezra Collective. Very focused with a lot of hip hop influence.

God damn it. they don't have the deal my dad wanted on the subs anymore so now it's taco bell instead. Honestly this puts a damper on my life. My cat came into my room when he heard Linda Sharrock's vocals, probably thought he would find a friend lol.

listening to Porgy and Bess now

gotta go to NA soon but im bumping this

been listening to pic related the last few days, pretty good

classic

That NA meeting was dope, I got coffee and experience strength and hope. I feel bad sometimes cause I always drink the coffee but I never donate. I just don't have a job and my money is usually tied up in booze and drugs. The coffee is essential though so I have the energy to bring to the jazz party. So glad I saved my booze for now. Kicking things off with Pharaoh Sanders' Karma, open to suggestions for the next album.
