as others has said, RYM is really good too. generally, I get a rec here and cross check it with RYM (ie if the RYM score is 3.5 or greater for the recommended album Ill check it out).

American Water is a really excellent album. David Berman is quite the poet. I do like The Natural Bridge a lot more though. That's one my all time favorites. I used to not be much of a fan of Silver Jews but I got some friends who really pushed me into them. One of the best indie acts of the 90s. Bright Flight is the last great Silver Jews album. The recent Berman project Purple Mountains seems alright. I'll wait for the album to come out to make a clear opinion on it.

Somehow didn't see this mentioned, but I tend to hit up local gigs, follow the acts I like on social media, check out the lineups of any other events they post on social media/website/etc, rinse and repeat

I'm in the backwoods but there's actually a local promoter who pulls in a lot of underground crews and even some household names (mostly not Yea Forums approved to be fair) and where I'm at happens to be within a 3 hour or less radius from several different semi-urban areas with their own pretty diverse underground scenes.

For more mainstream stuff though, mostly that Discover list on Spotify or see who pops up when I seed a shuffle with a specific track.
