Wait whaaaaat?

>Be Steven Wilson
>hate metal
>produce Blackwater Park by Opeth
>suddenly fall in love with metal
>introduce metal elements in next album

What did he mean by this?

It just meant he finally grew out of his Pink Floyd phase.

It's easier to make metal.

But metal is hard to play though.

It is. But it's easier for him to switch instruments in metal.

Kek

Opeth is the cancer that is killing prog music

That was a joke but I'm not joking when I say Opeth fails epically as a prog band, acoustic instrumentals band and death metal band.

But Opeth hasn't been death metal for a decade.

And yet they still suck ass.

Lol no they don't but give me your best prog bands.

>best prog bands
But that practically excludes the majority of prog metal. Do you still want it?

Yes I do. Huge prog rock fan.

>Huge prog rock fan
I like hearing that. I'll stop being sardonic for once and share some personal favorites then. Alot of then are probably jazz rock/fusion rather than fully prog.

Still well known: Caravan, Soft Machine, Camel, Return to Forever. I don't need to mention the big three of course.

Personal favorites: Pekka Pohjola, Blue Effect, Jean Luc Ponty, Allan Holdsworth, Brand X, Magma, Zao, Univers Zero, Voivod. There arent actually many prog groups with more than 4~5 releases I consider brilliant. Maybe that'll change when I dig through more avant prog.

Small discography,Obscure gems: Shub Niggurath, One Shot, Eskaton, Atoll, Sloche, UK, DFA, Edition Speciale, Fermata, National Health. Most of my all time favorite prog albums come from bands that have less than 4 albums. This is probably the case for many prog fans who look beyond the major groups.

fag

Y ;(
You wouldnt happen to be a prog metal faggot would you?

Have you heard Don Salsa - Koolaid Moustache in Jonestown?

I havent before. They seem not unlike Mr Bungle. Thanks, I'll put it on my to check out list but I dont see it becoming a favorite.

rude

>shit on chorus pedals and some shitty revival band because they sound dated
>DUDE 70S' PROG LMAO
he's full of it

Steve "WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY" Wilson

he actually ruined Opeth

Wow. I bet it was VERY difficult to do.
