very nice but unsure if i like the vocals
i REALLY like hizmi now, big ups
through years of music exploration, I no longer know what counts as chiptune
youtu.be
I mean, it's got bleep bloops 8 bit noises, I like it
lol that title, bouncy and chaotic choon
yeah, it's honestly fucking great, I don't know why nobody else here, especially here, hasn't really talked about them
i'll be honest, i have not heard of most of these artists. here i was thinking i was obscure when you guys pull out the big guns.
i used to do 8bit music, gameboy & guitar. idk if you're just discovering or already deep. if you've never listened to graffiti monsters they're dope. flow mein is p fantastic too.
my new stuff has a song that's fakebit and samples deathgrips, die antwoord, fall out boy, and gorillaz:
ITT
I don't actually listen to much chiptune these days, just really fucking like PoS and don't want to miss an opportunity to share
actually
the band as well, but this album is my favorite: maththeband.bandcamp.com
got into it as a kid listening to ytpmvs and loving gba soundtracks
Chillbrave didn't release much else, but there's videos of them in action on youtube. They'd DJ like 4+ og gameboys: chillbrave.bandcamp.com
shortlist of recs would be to look up 8bitppls discography and surf around.

This is vidya music but it still slaps
fun game
addendum, this is really nostalgic for some odd reason. probably one of the first times i heard hard 2a03. played the demo on 3ds a lot.
based she
no problem. I don't know japanese but most of a decade ago I used to trawl the ftp of the collective he seems to be a part of (g0org) for obscure shit and remember a lot of stuff that was released as hizmi was credited under various different names there. I don't know who all actually made the music released as hizmi, but it's all gold.
yeah, I tried to link stuff on youtube for easy embedding but tons of great stuff is on his bandcamp(s). the version of last sppr from gone awol 2 is great.
neat to see someone else who knows his stuff on here, I think we ran into each other a while back when you posted grand scheme of things and I was surprised any anons knew him.

no problem man, people love Depreciation Guild over in /shugazi/. It gets shared there quite a bit. Their other album is pretty good too
i want to make chip/emo/math/tim follin stuff but i can only make trap lol
chip tune trap would be something else lmao
actual game music rather than standalone chiptune, but nobody can convince me Streets of Rage 3's soundtrack isn't insane and underrated

vgm thread sometime?
I prefer the superior creativity of chiptune music made with actual hardware restrictions for actual games of the period.
Definitely
when I said actual game music I just meant it appeared in an actual game, as opposed to other stuff made for actual hardware that isn't part of a game soundtrack.

here's some other nice chip tunes. I'm not actually that familiar with kfaraday's work but he's got some pretty great pieces out there.
The EP is way gooder
How about chiptune mixed with jazz and a dubstep time signature?
neelyposting
i loosely keep up with sungazer, i like the one 5/4 track and the drunk one
i used to be staff on 8bc
rip
woah
what happened?
what do you mean? do you not know the whole 8bc saga?
This is sick as fuck
read up a lil and i see there was drama and chipmusic.com was a splinter (i have an account there lol, never use it.) i don't know the details.
>Fakebit
So it's like a bit, but fake? What kinda pussy shit is that?
youtube.com
not that user but I've actually never heard what happened to 8bc other than that it was there one day for me to casually browse and gone the next
it's something like this youtube.com
ah. long story short, the owner/creator of 8bc (jose torres) also produced a once-popular gameboy flash cartridge, using software/hardware designs stolen from some uni students. the software/hardware was licensed in such a way that prevented commercial use, and he was making a ton of money off of it and actively attempted to obfuscate the fact that he was doing this for a while. this flash cart business was tightly coupled to 8bc and i'm pretty sure he put up a bunch of links to his store all across 8bc.
the community eventually found out, and everyone got super pissed, and he was forced to stop production. generally, he was a super shitty and sleazy, slimy dude and eventually just stopped paying for the site. there was a period of around a year or two (2009-2010) where the site would be down for months at a time with no explanation, and then back up for a bit, before going down again. eventually it just kind of sputtered out of existence after going down one time with no word from jose, and no one (even the staff) ever heard from him again.
i had been an admin on there for a year or two, from around sometime in 2008 (i was in junior high, lol). it was a really fantastic, supportive, and creative place in its prime. besides a handful of IRC channels and smaller, more exclusive (and hidden) demoscene-related communities online, 8bc was really the first important big online community for chipmusic.
respect man, thanks
based follin
psilodump is considered chiptune but i'd say he's more borderline even in his specifically "8bit" releases
extremely based cactus poster
I did mean appearing in actual games of the period too. Non game chiptunes try too hard to be non game electronic music and ends up losing all the chiptune charm.
