This chart is decent but there's so many from the same bands. We can make a better one Yea Forums.
cringe burzum fanboy
kanwulf's band should be removed since he's a faggot poseur no one fucking likes but numales
god i fucking hate drowning the light
Nargaroth needs to be removed immediately
Like one out of ten of his black metal albums are actually pretty good.
More like this?
ÖUGH
thoughts?
literally only has one good album
southwest passage
Why?
Not my cup of tea.
Because he's the single biggest faggot/poseur in the black metal scene, with shit music to boot?
>Spiritual Catharthis
>Solitude
>Ghostwoodslands
>Embittered Darkness
I've listened to every single Striborg album, other than the recent darkwave shit. My ratings are as follows:
Mysterious Sembalance - 8/10
Spiritual Catharsis - 7.5/10
Black Desolate Winter - 6.5/10
Trepidation - 6/10
Embittered Darkness - 8.5/10
Naferia - 7/10
Ghostwooldlands - 7/10
Solitude - 7.5/10
Autumnal Melancholy - 9/10 his best album
Foreboding Silence - 5.5/10
Perceiving the World with Hate - 6/10
Southwest Passage - 7/10
This Suffocating Existence - 3/10
A Procession of Lost Souls - 5/10
All his albums from 2000-2010 sound almost the exact same though.
>his albums from 2000-2010 sound almost the exact same

Space for 49 albums. Any essential albums you think deserve to go on the top row? Below that anything with corpse paint goes.
fuckiiiiinnnnnnnnggggggggg based stribro.
what do you think of his blackwave shit? also his half of the Xasthur split?
dodsferd - cursing your will to live
stroborg - autumnal melancholy
>the xylophones on Foreboding Silence
instant 10 desu
Albums like Ulver - Self Titled?
>Ulver - Self Titled
what
rate my taste in black metal

Thoughts on Black Cilice?
Based Stribro, favorite album of his?
I was hoping that the blackwave stuff would be like the ambient/noise album he did, Spiritual Deprivation. Striborg always had my favorite ambient interludes so an entire album of it was nice, and the noise half was also done well. I listened to Instrumental Trans-Communication which was honestly really bad. His amateurish sound is charming in black metal but really translate poorly to electronic music. I couldn't really even sit through most of Blackwave and Leave the World Behind.
As for his splits, the one with Xasthur is okay, Xasthur had the better half. I rarely listen to Striborg for just one song, his albums are what make for the based Striborg experience.
Horna sucks.
Not because they have ties to NSBM, but because they are Finnish.
High IQ shit.
>His amateurish sound is charming in black metal but really translate poorly to electronic music.
I think that is the perfect way to describe him as an artist.
His lack of talent and budget kinda enhances the ambience and atmosphere of his metal music, but when he tries to make something more concrete, it sounds terrible. Honestly Leave the World Behind is pretty bad, probably the worst thing he has ever released (including the early Kathaaria stuff, that I have heard at least).
My favorite Striborg albums are Spiritual Catharsis and Ghostwoodlands, b t w. I also really like his song from the Xasthur split - mainly because the drumming is ridiculous and completely nonsensical.
Anyone else pick up the recent Paysage d’Hiver reissues? Always wanted his discography on tape but I don’t have that kind of money, fortunately I was able to snag my two favorite albums of his.
Recommend me some good Black Metal. Tons of it got wiped off of youtube as well.
>Tons of it got wiped off of youtube as well.
His drumming has always been insane, which is another reason why the blackwave stuff doesn't sound half as good. I feel bad for the guy though, I recently found his Instagram and its just him posting all day about blackwave to a non-existent audience. Maybe one day it'll form into enough despair that he releases another DSBM album. Although I wasn't a huge fan of A Procession of Lost Souls, what did you think of it?
>Maybe one day it'll form into enough despair that he releases another DSBM album.
Urgehal is better anyway.
Why is he a poser? I don't know shit about him.
death metal
Essential subhuman IQ black metal.
>wants to jump on the black metal bandwagon
>lies about being old school and recording an album in '89 and '91
>tries to get on everyone's good side by licking the ass of every popular black metal musician
Despite the lies, Herbstleyd is actually a great album. I agree he's a faggot and the rest of Nargaroths discography isn't very good though.
what got you into black metal?
ITT
Sunbather
suicidal depression
His Instagram is kinda a self-parody at this point. I honestly wonder if he even sold a single copy of Instrumental Trans Communication on vinyl.
A Procession of Lost Souls was meh, which I think is pretty par for the course in terms of how most of his OG fans reacted to it. It's not awful but I'm not going to listen to it again.
Söythrone were shitty trendhoppers since day one. Now ted and fenriz are the alternative lifestyle romantic life partner commandeers of a mob of ironic torch wielding söyboys who claim to be all about CULT, OLDSCHOOL METAL even though they only just discovered Agent Steel and Manilla Road in the last 5 years
It must suck only being remembered for Transilvanian Hunger and Under a Funeral Moon, which are just shitty imitations of Burzum
Söyside Journey: generic Swedish style DM album #928192819
A Blaze in the Söythern Sky: "now we're kvlt black metal because Euronymous said black metal is cool!!!! nevermind the songs are still basically death metal riff salads that happen to have some Mayhem ripoff riffs tossed in!"
Under a Söyneral Moon: MUH ICY GUITAR. it's SUPPOSED to sound thin and weak! that's the point!
Söysilvanian Hunger: wow, it's like Burzum, except without any of the dynamics or songwriting or interesting use of feedback and distortion! And the first pressing has a REALLY EDGY message in the liner notes haha but don't worry they weren't serious!!!!! they were kidding around!!! (Fenriz needs non-white people's money too!)
Panzersöy: the "we're out of ideas" album
All the pure BM albums after that are even more uninspired than the C-rate Darkthrone clones coming out around the same time like Craft and Katharsis.truly pathetic.
Then they went comedy rock, and that's where they remain today.
Fuck fenjizz. Fuck Cockturnal Culto. Fuck söythrone.
mental illness
But Chuck did give the best head in metal. David Vincent had his Azagthoth, and everyone in Vader had Doc, but no one made a pink cock erect like Chuck. True, as the AIDS infested his throat it made it hard for him to deep throat, but even as he lay there rotting, stinking of AZT and covered with Kaposi's sarcoma, Chuck would signal with two fingers when a willing donor came into the room. All I can offer in addition to that is the fact that no sex will ever compare to colostomy hole love, especially when the hole is fresh and supple after a well-greased movement.
We will never forget you, Chuck. Every time I hear your name my prostate aches, both for your tender heart-shaped ass and that incredibly thin, probing member we shared many times. It is heartbreaking how many things bring Chuck to mind. The sound of heavy metal. The flavor of Taco Bell food on the road. The scent of semen. The world lost not only a great musician, but a great lover, when Chuck died.
To say Chuck was gay is incorrect. He wasn't gay, he was just open-minded, and he sought anal sex from men, boys, girls and animals alike. Anal was not his favorite. His favorite was the blowjob, and he liked to be held afterwards, with someone stroking his hair and saying, "Chuck you are king of the world."
I will never sell the copy of Leprosy (80 grain vinyl) he left me at our last meeting. It is battered now, and reeks faintly of manpoo, and maybe it does have a few suspicious smears, but it is all I have of him. That and the memories. Those gushing, sticky, illicit, clandestine memories... Oh Chuck I miss you more than I can say.
so far? yeah for sure, execution wise it's flawless
Mayhem desu
Can't tell if these are band names or psychological conditions
lol 5/10
What about the new Saor album?
shit
Was pretty fun to make. Tried filling it up with albums I've listened to and genuinely enjoyed. A few blank spots left and obviously any number of albums can be replaced.
Excellent. Try adding Behexen - By the Blessing of Satan and Behemoth - ...From the Pagan Vastlands
also checked.
You should check out Thou Art Lord - Eosforos.
Not bad. Slightly entry level but most of the stuff on here is good.
That Fimbulwinter album looks interesting.
Stalaggh
Polish black metal? I'm getting into the scene lately but it's not very well publicized. Gontyna Kry and Arkona are two of the best black metal bands I've listened to in a long time though.
Posting some stuff I've enjoyed recently in return.

>Arkona
Aren't they folk metal?
The Polish Arkona not the Russian Arkona
Speaking of which, listen to the Polish Arkona. The Russian Arkona doesn't hold a candle to them.
Great suggestions, I tossed em on.
It's a pretty good album. Fairly standard bm from Norway but very noisy and lo-fi. Being release in 1994 is pretty interesting too.
>Riivaus
Nice taste. I must have listened to that Riivaus album a hundred times by now. It's short runtime is perfect because every minute of the album is filled with greatness. If you're looking for Polish bands, you might like Abusiveness. They have an album from this year which is good, but like many bm bands their earlier work is better.

Thanks for the rec!
Also if you enjoy Riivaus you should check out that Antimateria album. More atmospheric but with some incredibly catchy stereotypically Finnish riffs. Like this one for instance: youtube.com
Been meaning to check out that album but now I'll have to listen to it tonight. Really good stuff thanks! Finland has had some insane artists for a while, I don't think there's a country making better black metal at the moment.
Agreed
What’s the best Darkthrone album?
Transilvanian Hunger
bvmp
anyone blastin' some black metal right now?
youtube.com
A Blaze in the Northern Sky.
Based Gnipahålan poster.
Blasting this at the moment: youtube.com
It's not bad. But mostly comes off as a Graveland rip off to be honest.
Modern classic
Updated the chart a bit. What else should I listen to?
Moon
good shit
this a cringe thread?
Totally not cringe
Anyone listen to this album? it's very good.
h. Gaahl
>gaahls
faggot
That's a pretty chart.
Graven - Of Misanthropic Spirit
Pest - Desecration
Bekhira - L'élu du Mal
This is one of the best Graveland worships I've heard. Very nice.
yo i need 100 black metal albums to listen to, anyone have a chart or list to use, don’t want any shitty albums so help me out
>spoonfeed me!
kys tourist
What have you listened to and enjoyed, if anything?
i like darkthrone, wolves in the throne room, burzum, altar of plagues, and i kind of like deafheavan but they’re kind of shitty
shut up loser give albums
There's lots of stuff out there like those bands, if you listen to a hundred albums you're bound to find something you like.
Judas Iscariot - To Embrace the Corpses Bleeding
Branikald - Stormheit
Evilfeast - Mysteries of the Nocturnal Forest
Arckanum - Kostogher
Wedard - Einsamer Winterweg
Forgotten Tomb - Songs to Leave
meant for (you)
there was this one Polish black metal band that wore all black cloth over their heads and faces and I forget the name
they're recent I think, does anyone know who I mean?
soigla
thoughts on this?
lol I download black metal with a 320 kbps bitrate
satyricon is trash
Their last album sounds like post-punk Black Metal to me and I love it
What's the point of making a BM thread if you're all just going to post entry-level shit?
tyty that’s a great start
I'm surprised the thread hasn't died yet.
Seems like there's some good albums and discussion going on. What obscure gems are you hiding from us?
I'm sorry to say but i think i got filtered by Sargeist. The vocals are too high pitched.
Bvmp
Couldn’t let you jinx it
Marilyn Manson > Cradle of Filth > Dimmu Borgir > Terrorizer Magazine
Pretty smooth journey desu
None colder
Which first wave band was the most influential?
I don't get it
.......Satan
What don’t you get about it? It has catchy vocals and catchy riffs. A pretty straight forward album.
It's baffling you even have to ask this
Yeah it is good. My favorite Akitsa album by far. Love the punk influences on it.
Let's see...
Listen to Goatmoon, Baise ma Hache, White Death, Isengard, Gnipahålan, Nåstrond, Odelegger, Sielunvihollinen, Kaevum, Wulkanaz, Blodfest, Drowning the Light, Moonblood.
Venom, after all that's where the genre name came from.
Which scene has the rawest black metal? I'm thinking either French or Finnish.
kvist
Nice bait faggot, but Graveland is based&paganpilled
Dungeon Synth
/tourist/ general
Das Tor is arguably the best PdH album but it isn't the coldest. Winterkaelte and Kristall & Isa compete for that title. And this track is stunning.
Is tape true?
If you have to send an empty one to the artist to get the album then yes
fuck you
convince me my 2019 chart is shit
no I'm not going to include vehemence, dunno why are you all so obsessed with it
Their best
Not including Vehemence makes you not based but including Esoctrilihum makes you at least a little bit tolerable.
Well I just realised that Malist while being quite solid doesnt really fit in there and Vehemence release was def better so alright I'll include it at least for now...
So many early Graveland photos make me giggle.
My negro
Kerker is the coldest because it's 99% blizzard field recordings.
now THIS is gay
Kiss these dubs
MMMMMMMMMMUAAAAAAAAAAAACK
Like a 707 against the twin thread creation.
rec me some post-corpse paint core
>Kerker is the coldest because it's 99% blizzard field recordings.
It has the most obscure sound in the whole catalogue and sounds like it was recorded in an underground cavern rather than outside in a blizzard. Another masterwork nonetheless.
>Hellvetic Frost
based
Finished it off in case any one wondered.
filosofem
what a pointlessly shit thread lmao
Huge improvement over the previous chart. There’s no Nargaroth to be found.
Thoughts on Ildjarn?
Why are there several albums from the same bands?
top 5 norwegian black
Some stranger playing Mayhem riffs on stickam
I adore the ambient albums. Landscapes might just be him fucking around on a shitty keyboard but I think it sounds wonderful.
That's war paint, not corpse paint.
What's the difference?
Your mom
Ä Ä Ä Ä Ä
AHHH THE SATAN
He had some good albums. Most weren't very good though. Still, hits the spot when you want to hear something primitive, punky, and repetitive.
His music is more transcendental than any atmoshit. So often I'll put on one of his compilations and just lose track of time completely.
bump
Any good albums I might have missed from the past few years?
I saw someone wearing an emperor t-shirt as a kid and checked them out on kazaa
Did u know he is finally back?
youtube.com
>Gaahl's Wyrd
He sure is.
i've never seen anyone recommend this album and it should be listened 24/7
youtube.com
You're right. I can't seem to find another album with the same production.
Anyone know a few albums that sound similar?
What does everyone think of Varg?
SO PURE
SO COOOOOOOOOOLD
TRANSILVANIAN HUNGER
Sucks that his youtube channel got shut down. Music is okay I guess.
Great musician but shady personality. I wouldn't trust him even one bit.
He's a compulsive liar and story fabricator. Even after having served his time he still won't tell the whole truth about the murder. Weak man but some great influential early albums.
Out of all those only Deathspell Omega, Ulver and Emperor are worthy of being high IQ.
The rest is copy-paste, low tier garbage.
you are all a bunch of dummies
Thorns and PdH are high IQ.
never change Yea Forums
My musical evolution went like this... KoRn -> System of a Down -> Marilyn Manson -> Rammstein -> Burzum (Filosofem) -> Black Metal
Just gonna shill for BC again cause this Portugese fucker is HIGH IQ
Is it Mgła?
This album is very good. Reminds me of Immortal.
