Its God Ween Satan you FUCKING PLEBS I swear to god
The Pod is slightly better. Pure Guava is based, though.
PG is in their bottom 1/3 which includes Quebec and Cucaracha.
then what is the best?
Won't even give you the satisfaction of an answer.
90% of the time people ask this they're just ready to post "LEL WRONG PLEB" and cream their jeans.
Plenty of Ween goodness but that's not it.
No one wants to admit that Ween's best album isn't one of their first three.
every ween album is the best ween album and if you dont think so you havent listened to enough ween yet. different records for different parties.
It’s a proven fact that if you don’t have a high opinion of Pure Guava then you aren’t really a fan of Ween.
it's either white pepper, the mollusk, or chocolate and cheese.
I'm just curious man, I ask because a lot of people consider Quebec their best and I find it cool that there's such a variety of opinion on Ween's best
this
Pod
It furthered the sound they were developing on The Pod and tightened up the song writing to the point of near perfection when you’re talking about a quality Ween song. It also keeps the all over the place genre manipulation characteristic of the group. This is probably the time period that they had the greatest chemistry as a duo as well; they were 22 years old and didn’t give a fuck about criticism which led to their most free and expressive artistic output. Pure Guava is quite literally a masterpiece.
casual
>what's the best Ween album
The Mollusk, and Pure Gurava belongs in the lower half of their discog.
>It furthered the sound they were developing on The Pod
you mean detracted from it
>not enjoying at least three songs from every ween LP
>not knowing about synthetic socks, pine sheep, Z-Rock, or Mickey's various projects
>can't name 6 ween demos (fool to cry, long beach island, i smoke some grass, pass the bong, short span of attention, love will conquor all)
>doesn't understand the points of each of the nine main ween "studio" albums
cope.
No, they honed it. You can tell it was the aesthetic they were going for throughout their first two albums.
Why would you assume I don’t know all these things, casual?
keep on coping on
PG was too light and silly. WGW was great, The Pod was perfect as far as their "Brown" phase goes. Guava belong in their lower third wrt their albums.
You typed out a book in response to a single word.
pure desperation right here.
anyone coulda typed that out with any remote knowledge of the band covering more than ocean man. that was the point.
Your point was based entirely on a fantasy you drew up in your mind based on a single word.
clearly you don't know how this works. that's fine, i'm still figuring it out to. it goes like this, sonny boy.
>ive seen your number before
>met thousands like you
>fucked boys like you
you think I don't know you, but I do.
So every time someone sheds reality upon you, you activate your cognitive dissonance in order to validate living in a fantasy land?
you should learn to read, son. it'd help here. when you've graduated middle school come reread my posts.
>thinks his surface level posts need further analysis
it's okay, you'll grow up one day. i'll make sure this thread gets archived just so you can revisit it :)
I feel like Golden Country Greats only appeals to people who don't normally listen to country. Other than Piss Up a Rope it's aggressively mediore. Haven't listen to La Cucaracha yet
I love Pure Guave and all but Mollusk is just better, since pretty much every track there is gold.
Mollusk > Pure Guava > Chocolate and Chesee > the rest
Most country is lame. Ween make it enjoyable.
Why would you judge a Ween album based on the genre?
Exactly my point. I can see why you’d like it if the only country music you’ve heard was shitty, but if you listened to that genre more you’d realize there’s plenty of good country and that album is nothing special
I don’t think making “good” country music was their goal.
Get over yourself.
>synthetic socks, pine sheep, Z-Rock, or Mickey's various projects
Wow very impressive RYM-core. You're not special. This shit is common knowledge, and even then, knowing more about Ween than others is the opposite of an impressive achievement.
read the whole exchange before being a re re, swee swee.
This is ween's best album.
I did. Doesn't change that the person I replied to needs to get over himself, and extensive Ween knowledge that's easily gained is not impressive.
omg wow so unique posting a well known collection of demos/unreleased shit.
Any album that has Don't Get 2 Close is not going to be the bottom 1/3
i already admitted that it was casual tier knowledge. if you read the thread you should find it!
Where did I say it was unique or obscure? Feel free to quote the part in my post
the part where i said "shit" is the critical part of that post and an assessment of your taste.
>Anons who say that PG isn't at least in the top 3 Ween records
I don't get it. I truly cannot. What other album has so many classic ween songs in a row? Does Tender Situation > Stallion 3 > Big Jilm > Daisies > Going Gets Tough > Reggaejunkiejew not do it for you? Which other album has cathartic explosion that is Mourning Glory > Loving U Thru it All? Which other album has Dean and Gene performing at the greatest capacity of their artistic ethos? Pure Guava IS Ween. Consistently better than the Pod. More pure than the non DAT records. You like Quebec because of "muh feels" right? Can you somehow not pick these emotions out of PG? I swear its like anons haven't even listened to this record because Yea Forums dictates their taste to either like the Pod or Quebec. Chocolate and Cheese is a fucking masterpiece and so is PG. 100% objectively.
And on a second note their best demos/b-side/live/compliation is the 6 disc Rotten Cheese take from 94-95 tour, live ween DOES NOT get any better than this
This. PG is the best, Shinola 1 is the second best.
i agree, pure guava is like a week shrooming condensed into an album. like most great records, it was made during a period where the band was having fun making music together. chocolate and cheese is also amazing, a nice refreshing jump between the polished psych rock albums of their later years and the scuzzy druggy anti-satire of their first three records. (not saying that GWS is part of the lo-fi set, it isnt, but it's got the same energy)
Mourning glory is the most relatable song I've ever heard
Because it is the album that contains Mourning Glory, their single best track.
This is a very not-brown post. It's like a very light blue or green or something.
