Their are 100s of locals like you you've never met who all love to jam & play live music solo or in bands, Make friends with these people. Oh and dont be a fucking douchebag & you'll be fine

I have a few freinds who make around 2k a week in covers bands. Having a good booking agent helps. Casinos will pay top dollar for mediocre talent if you can get regular gigs. Sure its cover songs but it beats making fries & burgers

Dude I enjoy being in a cover band far more than any original band I've been in, not just financially speaking. Nearly everybody does. You all have to be seasoned players/performers to move up the pay scale, though. Have the right gear, the dexterity and virtuosity to play anything, get the crowd involved, do all the corny rock star moves, hit all the harmonies, the whole package. The irony is, despite cover bands having an unflattering reputation among "real" musicians, almost none of the guys I was in original bands with for years could pull off the cover band shtick.

um same. been there too. these days my day job happens to pay better (and i do fuck all) but i work weekends in a pro recording studio as a hobby, when others lounge at home & watch sports (fuck tv btw) if i dont go & see a live gig every week i go mad.
