The Clash genuinely suck ass

Sounds like reggae.

no u

It's what got me into The Clash. I love it

straight to hell is a masterpiece

I like it a lot, but later in their career the Clash became both more experimental, but also more uneven. IMO the key Clash albums are this, London Calling, and their s/t debut. I actually can't stand Sandanista, I think it's awful, but a lot of people think that's their best.

I think on Combat Rock they tried a lot of interesting stuff. Not all of it was successful, but I like what they did. It really goes into new wave and alt-dance territory, which is cool considering how early it was for "alternative" music. I really like punk, but I honestly don't even think of the Clash in terms of punk. In fact, that entire London '77 thing is extremely commercial to, say, anarcho-punk, American hardcore, or the CBGB punk thing.

it is flawed but I love it, not many albums give you a mix of full metal jacket and taxi driver

also the demo version "rat patrol from fort bragg" is a very interesting listen youtube.com/watch?v=Wl9b_S9dw_I

It's solid, it's pretty much a followup to Sandanista except they actually have a producer drawing them in. Sandanista actually would have been a worthy followup to London Calling if he was there to cut out the excess
