Help choose my first geetar

hi, new poster here.
I've been learning to play guitar for almost a year now, but it's my roommates. He's moving in a month, and I'd have to buy my own. I can't really afford any name brands here. The only ones within my budget are Squiers and Ibanez Gios. But if I get those, I won't be able to get an amp at the same time. I don't care about the brand as long as it plays well.
What's your experience with non-branded/dubious guitars?

Just get an acoustic, idiot.

Shill out the extra monies for a squire jaguar

that would involve him shilling out a little extra for an amp and guitar pedals too
bit too much for a first starter
i agree with

You can get a decent acoustic for $200-$400 that will last forever.

they sell combo's OP

if you're set on getting an electric, consider looking at Harley Bentons. apparently very good for the money.

literal dogshit amp tho, guitar usually isn't much better

yeah but a squier is better then some shitty rogue guitar. I don't think OP is going for the best tone, just something to play on.

I asked this question earlier today. The conclusion was a squier bullet strat and blackstar fly 3, most people were saying to spend more money though

Not OP. Any apps I can download to help me learn? Not interested in recording anything. Just want to pick it back up and play it to have something to do.

I used to have an iOS app, but I'm android now.

>lmao just get an acoustic
>get something thats way harder to bend on
Yeah thatll give a newbie confidence

Anyone know what happened to /gg/ ? Haven't seen it in a while

There are many more rudiments that you can learn cheaply with an acoustic.

order a ibanez and a podxt(the old one). and you'll literally be able to do whatever you want.

Is yamaha pacifica 012 within your range? It's a very solid giita for the price.

Just go onto Craigslist or gumtree and try to find something used, it will be much better value than buying new. Pretty much any cheap super strat from Ibanez, jackson or yamaha will be fun to play as they all have thin necks and high output pickups.

can confirm, was given a fender frontman 15 and it is literal dogshit

if you have thrift shops nearby they sometimes have something. I have picked up some interesting japanese built guitars for 15-50 bucks. they might have a problem or two, but then you get to learn something about the damn thing by fixing it
also found a Line6 Spyder3 that just needed some soldering, only cost me 20

just get a banjo dude

whatever you do, buy a proco rat. miles better than any

Fender Squier is a good starting place. Tbh, the Fenders are overpriced and it won't change the quality of your playing regardless. Any good player can make a Squier sound good. Try to find one with passive emgs if you're more into metal, otherwise a Jazzmaster or Strat are good bets. Learn music theory, there's a guitar theory for dummies I believe, and get a book of scales to get your finger workout every day. God speed op, don't be hard on yourself cause it takes a long time to get gud

this, vintage amps are always better than the shit companies shill now, orange, vox, matamp etc are the good high range ones but rat has some dank pedals Nirvana used rat pedals on all of their albums

This user is right. Starting on an acoustic is the way to go.

If you've been playing for a year and have a hard time bending on an acoustic you ought to take a long hard look at the way you practice.

newbies need to stay the fuck away from electrics if they're serious about guitar
t. actual guitar teacher

early model squires were actually a great guitar (pre 1990s) today theyre as rebadged shit as the badged k-tel or onyx shit ones at target

>harder to bend on
That's the idea. Getting beginners to not bend everything out of tune on a cheap electric guitar is a fucking nightmare.

guitar teach again.
these repliers are based. go acoustic

How's business?

basd reply. this person is a real guitarist.
whenever my new guitar students tell me they want to start playing on electric i say goodbye & good luck.

Cringe

>implying guitar teachers do this for full time income.
kill yourself pleb

That bad? Sucks for you.

it does.
new guitar students are a fucking total nightmare.
t. music professional who owns house, makes good coin but hates teaching

this. but make sure you check for unreasonable wear n tear. over worn frets & twisted necks are common reason people sell 2nd hand and need resetting. this can often coast more than the price of the guitar, esp if its a good model

You're probably a shit teacher, really. You have no patience.

This. My old spanish teacher bought a really rare vintage spanish acoustic worth $1700 for $50

yes.
i give free advice here & zero fucks desu. zero fucks

retard

Post living room and timestamp you fucking liar.

>user poster makes demand on internet
no
fucking demented loser
