not as in thy're wrong..
>rym
it's the monoculture online music community as a whole. reddit and nu-Yea Forums and rym are all the same shit soup of retarded college kids with no taste or desire to explore beyond spotify algorithms reciting the same opinions to each other. that fucking jai paul album is gonna win 2019 on the technicality of it already being a venerated "classic" among dipshits who don't listen to very much electronic music
>RYM
shut up rockist retard
Newfag pretending to be an oldfag.
Imagine listening to this on a daily basis
i explore lots and lots of music but i have next to zero desire to listen to anything from the current or past few years seeing it's all stagnant and not really worth my time
based
lol
This is why I’ll ever look at that website. I couldn’t care less to spend my time on a whole site that is essentially a metacritic user reviews section for music
W-we tried bros... We just can't compete...
Metalhead here, I liked this album but this was definitely not AOTY.
i've been here since 2009, plebbit
Come on user, no one cares if you're a contrarian on the internet, admit it's at least great and aoty worthy. It's their best release since Paracletus.
i agree with this post unironically even though i do like jai paul
incredibly based
Rym is dead and we have anthony fantano to blame
Literally all the top albums of this year are fantano’s highest rated albums of this year. to further my point look at the highest ratings, not only are they only friends with anthony fantano’s account (that’s been inactive for a long time) but thier accounts have less that 100 ratings and were created this year. I’ve stopped looking at the popular ratings. I just use the “as rated by my friends” button
>avant-garde
>experimental
So far Sulphur English is the only metal album i liked this year. Anyone else worth listening to?
ops wrond tread
Teenagers being hivemind. Nothing new move on.
Huh I thought the Jai Paul thing was a joke. How did that evebln happen? Early reviews weren't crazy high wtf?
It's so low effort all style no substance. Don't even hate it but no. 1 lol
i think the sadder part than that, which is just gonna happen, is the 25+ year olds who insist on their love of music but just stream the fantano love it list and pitchfork bnm all year and for some reason take the time to just recreate those ratings on a website. like, can you imagine being that pathetic?
>i have next to zero desire to listen to anything from the current or past few years
This. Somebody help me.
Wrong site buddy
reddit.com
if you're into rock music primarily, you might as well not even bother. but if you're into other kinds of music you're just being lazy
I can. I actually have 25+ y/o friends doing this.
I'm mainly into rock I admit. So I might just dig into 70's it seems. I have a lot of undiscovered stuff there.
i mean, so do i. i just still can't wrap my head around why they do this. like, i get it. i don't care much about movies so i'm sure i'm a normie to someone from Yea Forums. but i also don't start a letterboxd account and just uprate the same shit everyone else does.
I feel you. I don't have any social media account so maybe I just don't like to shout my opinions to the world like they do.
Jai Paul is officially in the top 500 best albums of all time, ranking higher than any Tim Hecker or Stars of the Lid album, say something nice to it
hi, jai paul, even though you don't deserve to be in the top 500, you don't deserve to be there a bit less than most of the other albums in the top 500 don't deserve to be there
it's probably better than any tim hecker or farts of the shid album desu
WHO GOT A PENIS
Future generations will be so confused by this albums popularity when the surrounding hype dies
as if future generations will even remember this trite crap
>dipshits who don't listen to very much electronic music
That's pretty much most of the RYM community, regardless of the kids. It's kind of shocking how few users regard a lot of electronic music beyond either the really popular shit like BoC or ephemeral microgenres like "deconstructed club".
omg I love Igor!
titanic rising is unironically great tho
it's way worse on Yea Forums itself where you still have people being le mindblown by avalanches and aphex twin on a daily basis and everyone thinks autechre is like exit level
based on the tags and cover, i was assuming i was gonna get some good cocteau twins/chromatics type shit and it was just a bad fleetwood mac ripoff
that weyes blood album was top of rym when it got leaked atleast a month before fantano reviewed it
also jai paul has nothing to do with fantano
youre a dense fag attacking a boogeyman when you should just realize the internet has homogenized music culture to a point where the "in music" is the same for everyone
Jai Paul's leaked album was good, but the hype surrounding him is pure hipteristic cancer. 4.05 is a ridiculous score for a bunch of demos, people will just like whatever Pitchfork tells them to
They swallowed all the poptimist capsules in sight per p4k’s cue
>that fucking jai paul album is gonna win 2019 on the technicality of it already being a venerated "classic"
unfortunately this.
correct take
kek
>thinking Igor and Grey Area don't belong exactly where they are right now
has rym gotten worse or has it always been this bad?
RYM in the past was a bunch of boomers and metalheads
Now it's full of trannies Yea Forumstants and Fantano Drones
Much worse, from my experience
fantano hates jai paul though
>go to album page for any "neo-soul" or "alternative r&b" album
>every account that gave it a good review joined after 2017
much better actually a diverse group of opinions
it was good back when people like avant teens antiwarhol were still relevant
Don’t leave me behind user where have they all gone
Is there a system in place that weights new accounts? cause if not that’s pretty retarder
hell yeah thanks for the recs
These are all great albums
at least its not Brockhampton
the algorithm clearly places heavier weight on albums with strongly centralized rating curves and absolutely has to account for surges in popularity week to week. it's the only explanation for why the top 50 changes so dramatically every week. i imagine these chart modifications pull in decent traffic for them and wouldn't be surprised if the weighting is slightly tipped to make it more horse racey
