I’ve been hearing about this for months now but I’m still not sure of the details. Someone fill me in? What’s going on with Last.fm?

It's uglier than ever and sometimes doesn't work properly.

because CBS has been losing money on it since forever. They're trying to run it into the ground, at least that's my theory.

I just hope that at least one site like libre.fm or any other last.fm clone has the option to import scrobbles from last.
I never had much of a connection to the site itself, and I don't care at all about the social aspect, but I dread the day I wake up and my scrobbles are all gone.

Probably because their API is always fucked and they're always fucking it
Either way I can't get artist images to auto-update on BlackPlayer anymore because of that and I want to scream

They just need to implement three key things to fix the site. Revert back to the old design or redesign the site to be more like the old design. Enable a message boards section like they used to have. Add the ability to change your username, as many of the power users on that site have been around since around 2005.

no website does that anymore, all has been sacrificed in the name of sleek "streamlined" normalnigger friendly design. sidebars are dead

no one uses forums in cy+4. no one ever used the last.fm forum either back then, it was all just leaving shouts on each others' pages

meh. they mostly all migrated to rateyourmusic ca. 2011/2012 or so.

They broke the API and ditched key features a few years ago trying to change the site's identity to something it wasn't. It's been get worse ever since. I understand them trying to become profitable, but alienating a loyal userbase is not the way to do it.

You’re wrong about no one using the message boards lol. They were poppin. You could even set up your own section for any artist or genre or whatever. I had my own for a music sharing blog I had, and even that got a lot of activity.

I can't get the scrobbling to work anymore so I gave up on it. I also hate the way they remodeled the site a few years ago.

Because it's borderline useless and has no social or recommendation features worth a fuck. It literally only exists for the niche of people who want to autistically catalog everything they listen to so they can get fleeting moments of validation for their taste in music.

Need Apple to buy them out and incorporate it into Apple Music.
