I can relate as far as pretty much any sub-genre of metal goes. There are a handful of exceptions as far as this goes.such as Corey Taylor, and Zack de la Rocha, but most metal singers/screamers/vocalists/whateverthefuck just get on my nerves.

Finally someone with taste on Yea Forums. I love metal, I love the aggression and the power the music. But when the vocals sound like someone gargling a pack of lit cigarettes I'm immediately out. If you can't evoke rage and aggression without doing an ear bleeding demon voice you aren't much of a musician.

There are some bands that can get it right though. Kublai Khan comes to mind, The Hammer is a 10/10 track.

the problem is all the good metal songs with clean vocals were already written in the 70s and 80s. all the good ideas are used up.

Listen it's a cultural thing and an aquired taste. I personally cannot imagine how one would make a song with heavy brutal guitar and explosive blast beats but still sing. The only thing that matched the brutallity is guttural vocals

That's because you don't feel it. Many people are angry and have being wronged many times in life. I am not even talking about emos, just regular angry dudes who just want to scream and let it all out. Metal is their outler so try to understand where they're coming from.
