It's probably Reign in Blood. Pleasure to Kill, Darkness Descends, et all are cool, but they're ultimately more scrappy than heavy. When RiB came out it blew people's minds because nobody had ever heard such single-mindedly vicious, malign music executed so perfectly with such an upfront, live sounding production job. that guitar tone is pure groaning, lead-heavy death.

No. MoP sounds huge becuase it's mixed better, and the songs are overall better written. RtL is lesser MoP, and Puppets is probably the best thrash metal album of all time, with maybe Kill em all being very near it.
