ALRIGHT EVERYONE LISTEN UP ! HERE'S MY LIST OF ARTISTS/ALBUMS YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO FOR SUMMER, I WONT BORE YOU WITH STANDARD MU CORE, NOR WILL I UPLOAD A THUMBNAIL TO ONLY ONE ALBUM... HERE'S A COMPREHENSIVE LIST...
Adult Mom: Soft chilled indie girls
Alexandra Savior: Belladonna of Sadness: debut album from desert rocker. Nancy Sinatra/Lana esc with her own edge
Big Theif: entire discography, Honest, pure and vulnerable indie folk pop with fantastically unique female vocalist
Broods: Dont Feed the Pop Monster: Strong and Competent electro pop sibling duo from New Zealand
Firewatch OST: Fantastic ambient and acoustic music from a fantastic narrative driven and visually stunning indie game. PLAY IT NOW !
Davenport Cabinet: Our Machine: side project of Coheed and Cambria Member... sounds like a mix of pearl jam and grateful dead
Givers: In Light: Bohemian folk pop outfit with fantastic debut album and terribly mediocre sophmore attempt. first album is near perfect.
Fountains of Wayne. they have much better songs than just Stacey's Mom... Trust me
Galaxie 500: bassist Naomi Yang who dated NMH's Jeff Mangum and was the inspiration for avery island's "naomi"
Little Joy: Self Titled
Peach Pit: Sweet FA and Being So Normal... Bummer Summer indie garage rock with the right amount of surf and grunge to their sound.
Wings: Venus and Mars, the best album from the best beatle from his best post beatle project... fight me.
ENJOY EVERYBODY! LEMME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK. Recommend me stuff too. change the status quo of the /mu recommendation threads from just a single album and thumbnail to a comprehensive list of your own gems!
Check out Daft Punk's new single "Get Lucky" if you get the chance. Sound of the summer.

Summer music? Perhaps.
Let's talk about Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!!).
The studio album that immediately preceded Pet Sounds. Huge seller. Went to #2 on the charts. (The band never had a non-concert, non-compilation album make it to #1, as crazy as that may seem.)
The album included 2 iconic Beach Boy masterpieces: California Girls (#3) and Help Me Rhonda (#1). Let Him Run Wild -- a potential hit that the band released as a B-side -- also resides on the album, as does a brilliant Carl Wilson vocal, Girl Don't Tell Me.
In terms of production and instrumentation, you have Pet Sounds, right then and there, a year ahead of schedule. Only the lyrics mirror traditional Beach Boy subjects: Summer activities, teen love, and places (NYC and Salt Lake City are honored).
Summer Days, and its predecessor, Today!, are big, clear signposts pointing the way toward Pet Sounds -- much in the same way that Revolver was a clue to what was ahead for The Beatles.
The Beach Boys no more went directly from Surfin' Safari to God Only Knows in one step than The Beatles went from Love Me Do to Strawberry Fields. It was an evolution, a progression that played out over half a decade. For both bands. And it was beautiful to behold for the listener.
