try the guitar General

youtube has tons of tutorial and instructor channels for all skill levels

>classical guitar
eesh good luck. anyway yeah there's a bazillion stuff for everything on YouTube and JG is a great starting point.

thanks bro
i was looking for something specific that's tried-and-true given the variety and amount
>>classical guitar
>eesh good luck.
why do you say that? would i be better off learning a different kind of guitar?

started on a classical guitar. the frets are further apart generally so it can be more challenging to a beginner. would recommend a steel string but it's not necessary

one of my main motivators is learning to play bach on the guitar, that's why i chose classical

no, I just believe they're incredibly tedious and probably not ideal for someone new to guitar. shouldnt be too big of a deal though if you can manage fingerpicking well because plucking is very different

see i don't think one can quite play bach on an acoustic, on the other hand you can play most songs on a classical, from what i understand at least

>i don't think one can quite play bach on an acoustic
not entirely
honestly i would recommend starting at basics, pick up a simple acoustic and learn your scales etc then once you're comfortable move on to classical again. it's all about learning the skill and I know many people who started with classical, changed, then went back. you cant have your pudding unless you have the meat

I have a shitty $300 guitar back from when I tried to learn in highschool (I didn't cuz I'm pathetic)

Is that good enough to learn from?

yes, are you fucking stupid?

No, anything less than a D28 is a waste of wood.

Is it too late to learn an instrument if you're in your 20's and never tried before? Every now and then I think about learning one (Either Guitar, Sitar or Violin) but everyone I know tells me you need to be introduced to that stuff at a young age.

They’re talking shit, I’m 30, have been playing guitar for two years and I now play live at least once a week having written about twenty songs. People who have been playing much longer than me often ask how I manage to play fingerstyle so fast.

no just work for it, you have like 50+ more years to play, youre obviously not gonna be a 3 year old korean playing a classical guitar the size of you, but you can get pretty damn close with patience and effort. start with a teacher the first few months

just took my guitar from when i was a child again to play some chill tunes kinda sooth myself at night, its pretty comfy unironically.

You're an inspiration and a beautiful soul. Your passion inspires me so much.

I’ve been playing guitar for just under a year now. I just learnt different kinds of songs to further develop all the myriad of skills a guitarist needs in their repertoire

gear doesn’t matter

I also met a lady in her early 70s the other day at a folk club I go to who has only been playing guitar for three and a half years. She too songwriters and she had the whole room singing along to delta blues. Never too late.

i kinda want to learn how to drum but...

>expensive af
>no space in apartment, at all
>roommates would probably hate me
>what's the point, I'm not going to be in a band and don't want to

I find drums fascinating though

You're a hack.

never too late to learn. it's all practice and muscle memory, and interest. the brain can pick up on new skills even in full maturity, don't let that meme discourage you.

there are electric drums too much smaller and no noise, u dont have to be in a band to enjoy an instrument, thats the wrong mentallity

I started at 21 6 years ago and am self taught. two vids of me improvising here
