Looking for an artist so we can give advice on each others mixes...trying to drop an EP please add discord Sorav#8697

Is a pretty large project I have been working on, i dunno if I'll keep the current title as its still WIP but for now I've just named its Seven Deadly Sins and the songs as their respective.
This Album is six tracks long (I couldn't be fucked making Sloth (Get it?)).

It could definitely use more vocals and I'm considering making another Track for Gluttony as I could get in trouble for the sample.

I also need a different singer for each track. I already found 2 for Pride, Wrath and technically Lust. Lust and Envy, also, must be a female singer.
>HMU on Soundcloud if you think you have a good grasp on singing about these sins.

>Also requesting comments and feedback, Will definitely return it.
Thanks :)

Yo, I'll check your stuff out. Can you add me on discord or skype friend? My skype is tehsmf

...

Ok but firstly why do you want to talk to me?

I just want an outside ear for my mixes. I've been producing and composing for 5+ years. Want another fellow artist to critique each others mixing work...been working on tracks but almost no one involved in mixing/producing has heard my mixes... need an outside ear to see how shit sounds for other people, but dont want to ask randoms. So another composer/ producer is best..etc if vocals are too loud or bass etc

i only have discord so

Hit me up my nigga

... You're not the brightest

Attached: confused_old_man.jpg (179x281, 8K)

I put it before. Sorav#8697 ... There something else I needed to do? Apologies if so brother

finally, thank you.

Why don't you two just suck each-other's dicks

>soundcloud
fuck off

>I just want an outside ear for my mixes
that's what the thread is for, you don't need to drop all your links

>Spotify is going to attenuate my music
literally just turn it down if you want lol
if you actually master to hit their -13 lufs bullshit you're not going to sound like every other "pro" mix that mastered as usual and just gets attenuated.

Anybody have recommendations for mixing a bad singer live?

i cant bring myself to care about drums. im considering buying an eletronic drum set cause tapping into pads has gotten stale and searching through samples gives me cancer. would anyone recommend electronic drums? never played real ones also

You may enjoy playing around with a advanced drum program like Superior Drummer or BFD. It will introduce you to how drum kits are mic'd, mixed, and played. It will give you all the various mics separated. You can trigger them with a midi electronic drum kit, pads, or just plug in midi into the piano roll if you are a masochist. But the real fun comes from learning how to mix them.

I have a pair of headphones and a MIDI keyboard. That's enough to fuck around in Ableton for fun right?

yes

Sorry if this isn't the thread for this, but could someone give me a link to some FL studio torrents?

Doesn't have to be the newest stuff, but any resource packs would be great.
deleted the post before because I didn't mean to respond to that user, sorry

Just get it on rutracker. Its probably on there.

hey fuck you guys

hey, recorded this and wanted to try to ask anyone to add things to it, feel free to change and add anything, then repost it with the changes you made. Can be fun right ??? instaud.io/3KQ4

Has anybody here tried 10.1?
How's the performance compared to 10.0.*?

>If it sounds good, it is good

(mixing wise) Yes/No?

Probably but not necessarily.

you could make a good mix out of a shit composition.

I don't see how it can be good if it sounds like shit.

He asked the opposite.
If it sounds good, can it be shit?

Chorus heavily, pitch correct before it hits the chorus, balance so the singer and the effected vocal are roughly the same level.

how do you download from this site? when i click download and save the audio, it saves as a .html and changing the filename to mp3 or wav doesn't work

i am using firefox. when i hit download, it redirected to the sound player page. i just right click on that page and saved it. it automatically put .mp3 on the end of the file, so if it doesn't do that, you're doing it wrong.

>when i click download and save the audio
Are you right-clicking the download button and then clicking on some download button in the dropdown menu?

yeah that worked, i was trying to click the player (which usually works on other sites)

Production n00b here. I've recorded a song with two guitars that use heavy, fuzzy distortion and no matter what I try, the bass and especially drums keep ending up being low in the mix. How do I make them louder without clipping, without sacrificing anything on either of the guitar tracks (there's a couple of cool guitar licks I want to be high in the mix)

if you're using LADSPA, putting a fast lookahead limiter on the master is quick and easy.

Which parts of the drums you want to make louder? The kick, the snare etc.? What is the weakest at the moment

Using Garageband on a Mac.

The kick and the snare. The cymbals are fine though.

>Using Garageband on a Mac.

Literally the most toy-daw of the toy-daws. Even the Reasonfags laugh at you guys.

Attached: 1536798376433.jpg (514x350, 111K)

Same advice, experiment with a limiter. You may need to EQ as well.

I suggest getting Logic. It's the professional version of Garage Band (which is a VERY basic DAW).

Study counterpoint.

Day two of trying to write movie scores.
Any opinions?
instaud.io/3KUI

You can double up the bass in a similar fashion to doubling guitars. I recommend one clean recording and one distorted, mix to your liking. Should help the bass pop out more.
As far as the drums go, try some compression and EQing.

>instaud.io/3KTA
At least the guitar sound is kinda nice I guess

how the fuck do you get people to listen to your music and build a fanbase etc etc
how the fuck do you do marketing is it really all just luck and nepotism

Yes please.

Are you just "straight up" trying to hit mainstream or something like that?

Usually the artists today start in sub genres or subscenes, or "underground" scenes. When they get too big they break the mold and become mainstream.

Of course this is not true of all artists, but some might stay in the underground scene for like 15 years and gradually grow until the scene itself becomes "mainstream", right place, right time

at least my daw wont freezee with 4 tracks with reverb, fucker

That's true.

I bet everyone of your favourite songs has good counterpoint in it

You'd need to be able to get to 4 tracks, though.

I dont plan to hit mainstream or anything of that sort but I'd like to be in any underground sort of niche but I have 0 clue on how to get there or anything like that
Do you have any clues on where I can dig deeper into this? I'm a brainlet when it comes to all this man I'm so sorry

yeah, just add reverb to the master, right, why didnt i think of that!!!

Should I get a budget mic like a SM58 for $100 or just brace my wallet for a $400 SM7B because I'll probably want to upgrade later anyway?
Planning on recording all kinds of stuff.
New to production, but not music so I'm worried about losing interest.

youtube wont let me stream through my phone, what do

what are you planning on recording

>implying I haven't studied counterpoint
I used to study music at uni faggot, fight me

Or you can put reverb on a buss and send the instruments to it in the right amount.

Record a video and then upload it uncut on YouTube, or use Twitch.

what if i want to have plate on the vocal and room on the guitars and chamber on the drums?

ok
write a simple 3 part counterpoint in first species. here is the cantus firmus.

Attached: shit.png (826x97, 6K)

Then have two of them on two busses.
Still better than having a separate reverb for each track.

I don't know. My old band records did sell something like 10-20k copies, some of the more rare CDs have been selling for over $100 a piece because they were quite limited releases of something like 3000 copies.

I don't know, I think the main thing is consistency: I mean we we were not big, but we were contacted by like 5 different metal labels after our first self released demo and made lots of contacts with other bands and played some international gigs.

You really have to put out material in a timely fashion, I am talking like release something at least every 2 years. If you are not a big or even a small band to begin with your 5 years release intervals and being a couch potato on releasing stuff will not get you anywhere. People forget you and your music.

I personally am writing new material for an album and I probably will get it released through a label through my old contacts, some small, like 1000-1500 copies release.

Try to make a good demo and send it to labels that release same kind of music. Don't even mind of being ripped off if it is just you trying to get some name: you can ditch the label for your next release and look for something better

still requires me to freezee and unfreeze tracks every minute with this pentium e2180

Vocals, pianos (upright or the grand at my work), guitars, clarinet, sax if I ever get one.

Oh fuck. A weekend of "why won't [insert name of plugin here] show up in REAPER?" questions, it'll be 2017 all over again.

Now you don't have that problem anymore.
Proud of you!

thanks!

nothing wrong with going expensive, but if the cheaper mic is good enough for your purposes, then who cares

rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5693798

We had some luck. Our singer was a member of a much bigger band who got signed to a bigger label and they recommended us forward to a smaller sub-label of that bigger label or some of their distribution partner or something like that

There was some international gigs who had some "big label" scouts in the audience to check out new talents and stuff: we did not attract their attention but one the bands of our friends who we toured with got a deal with them.

Another band lost a huge contact because their guitarist was so wasted and playing so shitty live: this was a big festival with like +50 bands over 3 days

Some of the labels want the whole package: they want you to deliver solid live performance and solid albums etc. I never personally cared for the shows that much and I hate playing live.

So if that is not your deal maybe look for labels that only look for stuff to release. I just knew and met lots of people from that particular scene back in the day. Most still remember me after years of no contact, some probably dont.

tried a little something different on the master for this.

What do y'all think?

I was going for a straight contrapuctus simplex (no quarter and half notes, except for the clausula) and the jump in bar three is allowed (ballistic curve) since it is closed in bar 6 and 7.
It's missing a climax though but hey, it was done in like 5 minutes.

Nice and loud, cool lyrics. Turn up the drums a bit my mane

I'm not a native english speaker, I know the latin terms but not the english ones

i'm always super insecure about my drums lol. Maybe it's cuz I'm a dirty honkey

They sound good from what I can tell but if you're not going to put them in the mix properly you might as well lose them entirely.
Feels like this song would work without drums too.

i expanded the bars to show the hidden fifths between the outer voices. you're moving from an imperfect consonance to a perfect one in both cases. you wrote unisons in mm.7-9 which are reserved for the beginning or end, since they tend to overemphasize the sonority.

the drums were the last thing put into place, when I get home I'll experiment with boosting them a bit, see if they can hold their own in the mix. Thanks for the fresh ears man

Are you having technical difficulties again?

>i expanded the bars to show the hidden fifths between the outer voices
Nice, didn't catch those.

>you wrote unisons in mm.7-9 which are reserved for the beginning or end, since they tend to overemphasize the sonority
Huh, I learned that you can do that.

>Thanks for the fresh ears man
Sure thing buddy

you can if it's a doubling, not a unison. (to be fair, some of the rules do sound like bullshit every now and then lol)

>instaud.io/3KUI
Seems a little 'fast' if that makes sense. Like, if this is supposed to be in the background of stuff happening, I feel it should progress a bit slower or it will be distracting for the film. Also not a fan of the sound of the brass instrument that comes in around 1:47 - assuming it's a sample? It sounds like one anyway

I think it's good overall though, kinda reminds me of LOTR. Nice composition, what kind of film is it for?

No, that makes sense.
Man, it's been a while since my counterpoint lectures, need to brush up on that shit sometime

SAMMY WHAT THE FUCK
Your stream is down.

Fucking pathetic

>Nice composition, what kind of film is it for?
Thanks man, no film in particular, just practicing that style of production.

>Seems a little 'fast' if that makes sense
I tried a slower tempo before but a few parts tend to drag, I like this tempo

>Also not a fan of the sound of the brass instrument that comes in around 1:47 - assuming it's a sample? It sounds like one anyway

Yeah, those are the god-awful french horns from the Vienna Symphonic Library. They work pretty well in the background (check 0:25) but at louder volumes they sound like shit.

Thanks for the feedback mate!

whats with the hate for reason??

Is there any? I always interpreted any "hate" as tongue-in-cheek teasing. Reason is lovely.

As usual a little jamming inevitably turned into a 9 minute doom epic that's probably way too long but I can't get myself to cut any of it down so I'm just gonna roll with it.
>user, you really gotta keep it down to one guitar layer this time and avoid mud city
just can't help myself

Just haven't separated the midi drums out onto different tracks yet but I'm kinda feeling it's okay as is. Don't feel like fucking around for another 2 days to get them perfect.

Any feedback on the song or the production?
Still just using cheap headphones and extremely crappy logitech speakers until I get something better (been like that for a year, lmao), but in the mean time you can't stop creative sparks.

Are there any tutorials regarding efficient workflows? I want to make this remix before I die.

does this sound dumb
instaud.io/3L00

make your B section (2:24 onward) come in earlier.

What do you mean by cutting?

Going into the waveform using wavosaur and clipping out short segments to throw into my tracker. I was joking about the tutorials because that would obviously just be a distraction from what I'm trying to achieve.

Ah damn, good luck.

Thanks. Almost done with the vocal track and then I'll just have the guitar and keys left.
...and then I'll throw them into the tracker and realize I have no idea what I'm doing and no idea which direction I should go.
Maybe a simple house track.

I let a track (digitally) clip a lot, but I need it.
how can I make it sound a little better?

Feels like you're just starting to learn music theory and don't really know how to get the harmonies you're looking for yet. The top synth could make a fun cute dance song, the lower parts sound kinda spooky and tense.
Practice more ear training and figure out what the chord progressions of tunes you like are and how they work.

>but I need it.
CLIPPERS EXIST STOP DOING THIS SHIT

what's wrong with i-iidim-V-iv-V7 ?

Nothing, it just doesn't feel like it's what he was going for by the sound of the track.

if the first part was better written it would be an interesting abrubt change of mood, it sounds almost cheeky

How long is it? If its not long you can draw the waveform tops back in manually with the pencil tool in audacity, after you lower amplitude.

>in audacity
lol okay

What's up with the popularity of 2 octave midi controllers?
I would understand if you want something to travel with, but it seems like this is the shit everyone wants for their home studios.
I feel like it would be kind of like claustrophobic to not have as much or more range than you plan on using visible. Maybe that's just pianist bias though.

>Maybe that's just pianist bias though
it's huge. the people who get those are mostly producer-only musicians who don't intend on becoming keyboardists; it's to dick around for ideas or humanize parts they already came up with

Well you can literally de clip a sound using it if you know what you are doing.

I should also add that izotope RX bundle has a declipper. I have not tried it, but for a very long track, a automated approach maybe better.

Are you proficient at piano?

If you upload the track I will attempt it.

Even for dicking around it seems limiting though.
My melodica has 37 keys (vs 25 of 2 octaves) and I still feel like I'm running out of room on it. Granted, no octave shifter.

Why was that album cover used? Was that considered good production for its time? I have a terrible ear for such things but im surprised how clear everything is considering it came out in 95 and pioneered a genre 15 years ahead of its time.

Yeah. I guess I forget that beginners struggle with basic 5 finger exercises.

>Even for dicking around it seems limiting though.
not everybody knows chords user, don't make them feel bad :^(

You dont need to "know" chords, you can just come up with them if you have a basic understanding of music

FINE KNOWS HOW TO DO THEM YOU PENDANTIC FUCK

Do you guys have a favorite free Spitfire Labs VST?
spitfireaudio.com/labs/

I didn't mean it that way. I wust wanted to ask you a couple of questions:
How long does it take for someone who has never touched a keyboard and is practicing 1 hour a day, to be able to play with two hands (different rhythms)?
To be able to "watch his hands playing in 3rd person" (I don't know how it's called but you get what I mean)?
To be able to also sing while playing?

If 1 hour a day isn't a good metric, you can use a different one. I just chose it because it's an easy round amount to quantify.

How do you make music and not know that pressing different keys together makes a chord?
That's all you need to know.
I don't knowthe names of anything in music theory and I can just put notes together until they sound good.
Sure, the result isn't top tier, but it's still chords, no?
What else do you need to know?

Study counterpoint. Chord progressions naturally come about by the proper application of voice leading.

I'm just talking monophonically. Obviously no one tries to play chords with 2 octave controllers...right?

youtube.com/watch?v=bvMbapQDkmE

Here's a cool approach to figuring out cool harmonies that only requires basic knowledge of intervals.
As far as going chord to chord just try to to keep a couple common notes between chords and/or only move in small intervals

2 octaves is the perfect amount as long as you have an octave up and down button, which you should. It's good for sketching while sitting in a comfy chair or couch. I see my little keyboard is 2.5 octaves... but still, 2 would be enough as long as you don't intend to play something really technical live.

remixpacks.ru/load/2/trap-1-0-597/
wtf why this one wasn't the track for the contest??

1 hour a day is pretty ambitious for a beginner. Personally I'd recommend 30 minutes/day 5-6 days/week because consistency is more important than time. If you're really driven to do an hour a day good for you though.

It's kind of a hard question to answer because it depends on the complexity of the rhythms. There will be some basic accompanying patterns you could probably figure our in a month or two and you just add complexity from there.
We don't usually think of simultaneous rhythms as completely independent though, it's more like we conceptualize it as a whole.

Anyway, I'd definitely recommend a book of rhythm exercises like libgen.me/item/detail/id/1393203?id=1393203
if those are your goals.
There are exercises that build up to 2 and even 3 layered rhythms.
When practicing the 2 part do it separately, tapping with 2 hands, and singing/saying one rhythm while tapping the other.
Personally I like to start my practice sessions with some rhythm practice.

Thank you very much.
What about the other milestones?
>To be able to "watch his hands playing in 3rd person" (I don't know how it's called but you get what I mean)?
>To be able to also sing while playing?

BEcause the track is decideed at random, as is fitting for a 4channel game.

Attached: prod remix chart final.png (1800x3883, 817K)

>We don't usually think of simultaneous rhythms as completely independent though, it's more like we conceptualize it as a whole.
I feel like I always space out and do it by feel but focus on where each hand should be on the beat or every other beat depending on the pattern. Although I guess when I first learned 3 over 2 as a kid, I learned that as a whole.

Attached: dasszym.jpg (868x541, 185K)

look for some 3 part music and sing one of the parts while you play the other two. if you practice sight reading, that will force you to look away from the keyboard.

Those are pretty vague as milestones, but if you can work your way through those rhythm exercises up to the 3 layered ones singing something you know well shouldn't be hard.

muscle memory is a hell of a drug

Thank you, but I'm not asking how to get there. I just want to know how long it takes to reach them.

that's bullshit multiplier isn't even on the list!

>Portugal. The Man -- Feel It Still.

Let's do this!
It feels good though. Like meditating while music seeps out of you.
That 5 over 4 feels like some blissful waterful or some shit.

there isn't really an end, as you're always improving. but for proficiency, i'd say you could do it in under a couple of years if you practiced everyday. like the other user said, it's more about consistency.

Thank you.
Can I make it 1 year if I practice two hours a day instead of 1?
(assuming the 2 years estimate is based on 1 hour a day).

proficiency isn't the right word there lol. but i mean "not sound like a total newbie"

you can try, but don't burn yourself out.

I'll be careful, thank you very much.

On a related note, I've seen some videos on YT of a dude telling people to do 10 or 15 minutes a day, and even giving these 10 minute exercises.
Isn't that too little?

i would keep it to 30 minutes to an hour, but whatever you're comfortable with works. i would also recommend improvising a lot. you'll sound like shit, but it's all about the muscle memory.

I'll keep that in mind, thank you.

>but it's all about the muscle memory.
>i would also recommend improvising a lot
>you don't have an experience based on well composed music but fuck around and develop muscle memory of shitty sounds
You need to build up an understanding of what sounds good by playing the music of others who have invested tens of thousands of hours and only left the golden trinkets for us to play. From that you gravitate towards sounds that please you and then you can improvise based on this knowledge gained by playing the music of others. Stand on the shoulders of giants; don't dig your own grave right from the start.

are we doing this? they have no drums but maybe you can squeeze them out from the wav of the song by inverting the phase
also can you somehow tell ableton to not mess with the start marker? checking if it's right on every track is annoying

Hey I'm a bit of a shit admittedly but there's also a reason guy who's been really nice that posts here.

Is it Monday?

SOMEBODY INSPIRE ME QUICK

>are we doing this?
I still need to do Dreams ;)
I don't know anything about Ableton either.
Would it be worth it to try and extract the drums though? You're saying to invert the phase of the original full audio and then add (subtract) all the stems? It's a little strange that they weren't included. At least this time the vocals are clean. I was/am too lazy to try and clean out the drums on the Dreams vocal track.
Every day is Monday.

>guy who's been really nice
fuck that shitposting faggot he's only nice for 10% of his posts

>You're saying to invert the phase of the original full audio and then add (subtract) all the stems?
yeah like a bootleg acapella, they will probably sound like shit but it's worth trying
it's not so strange that they weren't included, it's actually common in remix contest, probably to avoid stealing or to not give away sekrit weapons
I would say this time the stems are very useable so I will probably try something

>sekrit weapons
Ah, the perfect snare.
Looking forward to your remix if you decide to go through with it.

>>sekrit weapons
i really want to collaborate with more people but it makes me nervous to trade stems with rubber tier sounds :((((((((((

well my plan is not working well, maybe with some autistic tool like izotope rx you can get closer
I'm gonna rape thsi song if I can come up with something
;((((((((((((((

How good can pitch correction/ autotune sound on out of tune instruments?

melodyne is probably the best tool for this. it can even dynamically repitch a single note in a chord

I'm working on a dirty slappin' beat with arturia's synclavier. The first part is a bit boring, but it gets going around the second drop.

Going for lofi

>vocaroo.com/i/s1ZO6SybcKIM
Very nice guitar work but everything is too clean if you're going for lofi.
That lead that comes in around 1:07 is too loud and kind of annoying and it confuses me because your guitar part is so good but that lead melody is pretty weak/lame.

use moar gates
chop up the audio so you have spaces between the hits, riffs and chords
need to get some steppiness into the mix
space is your friend here
try shelving down the very high end on some of your sparkly channels, that will make a big difference, even thru vocaroos compression your high end is too sparkly

So the new Ipad came out recently, and I was thinking about moving from my laptop to a tablet recording set up.

Has anyone here used a purely touchscreen Daw for any kind of serious music recording/mixing before? would it make more sense to get a Surface Pro? it's cheaper and can basically function as a laptop if I need it to and it's far less restrictive in terms of storage size and compatibility.

but basically I need something like that, I'm really transient right now.

Attached: ipad-pro-12-select-wifi-spacegray-201810_FMT_WHH.png (940x1112, 719K)

sup anons, where do i start learning how to mix? I'm 1 months in to this production stuff and I mainly do hiphop/boom bap type thing and im looking to improve my sound.. Any resources, books, yt tuts?

p a s t e b i n f a g g o t

Also my previous laptop is on it's last legs, years old now, crashing a lot and generally just kinda falling apart.

>would it make more sense to get a Surface Pro
it makes more sense to just get a laptop in general

It's definitely possible, but it's way more limited than a laptop (for the better or the worse, depending on your mentality).
Perhaps watch these:

youtube.com/watch?v=ZxvliLODkxI
The guy's channel:

Is there a particular reason why you want a tablet instead of a laptop?

Anyone?

>"just can't help myself"
>"don't feel like getting the drums perfect"

why the fuck would i reply to this? you say you want feedback but you prefaced that by implying you're not going to change shit wtf

anyway the drums sound like shit, as if you just opened a vst and tweaked nothing, and i can hear (too many) guitars that are not in sync. just skimmed, not listening to that shit; bad quality but i won't go so far as to insult the song itself just to be a dick if that's any consolation

oof
that's a little harsh user
guess I'll have to go back and fix the drums then

Any bars around you that do live music?

I'm going for the generic club sound. Thoughts?

I feel like a subito piano would work well on that last high violin note. Needs some dynamic shaping for whole line. tell me a story

Okay guys.
I did it and made my first track that isn't shit. I'm just at the beginning of it.

Please give me some feedback this is a milestone for me.
instaud.io/3LaS

i wouldn't change keys so soon. i would simply move back to the first chord, and continue to work within that key for a bit. save the key change for later, but build up to it.

I think I may have accidentally gone out of key then. Let me take a look at the piano roll.

anonymous bad amateur music

Yeah accidenly moved up half a step on the last chord. I"ll fix it really quick and reupload.

Okay, I fixed it so it's all in key now. It's the key of C minor. with the C minor natural scale.

how do i get from a drumbeat i made up in the shower to a solid drum track? my problem is that i find it difficult to correctly make a midi pattern in fl studio. how do you guys proceed when realizing you own drumtracks?

Play it live. I never click shit into a piano roll. Fuck that noise.

with a drumpad eh?

I actually just use shitting midi keyboard keys because I don't have pads... Haven't you seen that video of that Japanese dude who throws down some sick beats using a keyboard?

Not him but I'm interested.
Post link please.

Starting to get into hardware, is a TR8 gonna be useful for me if I mostly just make drum beats and throw bass and synths over them in my DAW? I'd sort of like to be able to compose with just hardware, but I'm told the TR8 doesn't have a good sequencer for full songs.

youtube.com/watch?v=JcY2r-sUcHg
Sorry -- he is Chinese, not Japanese... I think.

hardware is a meme

Thank you.

I'm wondering, do you have to be great at piano to get the same results you'd get with drumpads?
I'm not very good at playing keys, so I always get the velocity and timing off, but on drumpads it almost always sounds fine.

nice, i would like to come up with something like this in the future youtube.com/watch?v=C1dITqy1aVI

fuck i wish i could find a addictive drums 2 preset that sounds like this

youtu.be/0zlPtpUZ8uQ

try cutting the sound out of the video. it sounds like white noise thats been chopped up.

>I'm wondering, do you have to be great at piano to get the same results you'd get with drumpads?
Oh shit, sorry. You're probably right. I've played piano for over 20 years so I take a lot of that for granted.
haha - that beat does sound like it was made using some keyboard's presets minus the glitched repeats.

Soft piano. Sounds very good and expressive. All of them are very good though, and spitfire labs is free so just get them all. Its basically like Kontakt

If you want a touchscreen experience just get a surface pro and use bitwig - it has touchscreen support. The only time i would use a tablet or phone is when im using touchOSC or milkytracker.

>milkytracker
Just for drawing your own waveforms, right? I can't imagine using a tracker without purely relying on a keyboard.

Bluetooth keyboard or soft keyboard

they don't limit you retard, they literally just turn it down, there's a huge difference

>if you actually master to hit their -13 lufs bullshit
This, went on a dummu mission to try and do it and my shit ended up sounding quiet as fuck. LUFS isn't good enough to actually work I guess. Or you'd need to be super skilled with your saturation/limiting to win

What's the difference between the 100th anniversary edition of "Theory of Harmony" and the cheaper older edition?

The cover says "with a new foreward by some fag" so probably just that.

libgen.me/item/detail/id/274702?id=274702

imo a lot of the reaction toward the "loudness war" and conversations about "overcompression" and "dynamic" masters only caught on because people love to hate new mainstream music at any moment in time, and budding musicians love to hear anything that supports the idea that maybe they personally can offer something that big corporate sponsored $$$ music can't based off their pure artistic integrity... like you can pull up their song and see all these peaks, so DYNAMIC MAN! Just like back in the day!

HOw the hell does this justify increasing the price to 38$? What the hell is wrong with publishing companies?

shut up and pay your gentile tax goy

I just found out the music industry is absolutely packed with middle-aged ghost producers, young figureheads that pretend they made the music and A&R occult sex weirdos who run the whole thing.

I thought ghost producing was a conspiracy theory but it's actually rife.

Keep grinding. I've been sitting here for three hours just messing around on a keyboard and I haven't recorded/written down shit even though I've been working on fleshing out the same melody this whole time.

get gud nerd lol

frfr, just keep at it, try a new genre, look at a class, never stop learning

Yeah I'm been grinding out music for most of my life and I got pretty good at performing, but there's so much stuff that's I'm totally new to and it's like damn, I've still got a long way to go.

music production is dead pack it in boys

Welcome to puberty

With drum machines like that, in order to make a full song you are supposed to compose/mix/mute on them in real-time.

Should still work

Pretty sure it doesn't.
At least as is ableton isn't detecting it.

Leave controller on, restart your computer, open ableton in run in admin mode

Thanks for the suggestion, but it still doesn't seem to work

Even Nothing 1.0 sounds better than Destroy Erase Improve.

I dig it. The vocal get drowned out when it gets loud, and become unintelligible which is typically not desirable.

You mean just at the chorus? I should probably just turn them up there, you think?

how do i pirate FL studio?

I'm new to digital mixing, but yeah I think they could probable come up if there's room. Probably wouldn't hurt to just keep them up for the whole song though. Lead lines should usually be considerably louder than everything else.

i bought an m40x you guys can laugh at me now
