Is Tycho the quintessential doomer band? I find their sound is singular, and the only bands which come close don't so wholeheartedly capture the doomer feel like they do. When I listen to Tycho, I am taken back to my past, when things were infinitely better. It is comforting, yes, but also sobering, because you are reminded of how good things used to be, in contrast to how terrible they are now. Furthermore, they are arguably one of the most consistent bands I know, in terms of maintaining creativity while keeping their unique sound alive in each successive album.
