Is this it? The best hip-hop album ever?

36 Chambers, MBDTF, TPAB, Illmatic, and Madvillainy are def better but after those ones it has an argument

Holy reddit

I mean there's a reason those albums are so highly praised. Which albums would you pick instead?

>Implying Outkast are any less Reddit than anything that guy mentioned

I've listened to a shit ton of hip hop and I'm not underage lol. I'm open to hearing which ones you think are better. Again, there's a reason those albums are so highly regarded. They're pretty damn good

I’ll give you Madvillain, but Yeezus, Straight Outta Compton, Stankonia, and Doris are all better than everything you mentioned.

op just delete your thread now it's obviously cursed

Low End Theory, It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back, Paid in Full

Straight Outta Compton is a little overrated to me. It's good but I think the title track and Fuck the Police set a standard the rest of the album doesn't meet. Stankonia is great and arguably has the best highs of any Outkast album but I think it's more inconsistent than Aquemini. SRS and I Don't Like Shit are both improvements on Doris imo. Yeezus has Send It Up and I'm In It, so that prevents it from reaching elite territory

Honestly MM and Fear of the Black Planet have better arguments than their prior 2 imo

Yes, one of the most popular southern hip-hop groups of all time is less reddit than fucking Madvillainy, an album whose fanbase is almost entirely made up of internet hipsters who didn't get into hip-hop until 2009

Not if Endtroducing counts as a hip-hop album.
If you're only taking ones with rapping, then no album has yet surpassed The Great Adventures of Sick Rick, all Outkast albums included.

>Bringing up popularity
Already grounds to disregard your opinion (as if the "hey reddit" response wasn't enough for that already).
Secondly, Outkast is absolutely either just as "reddit" or even more so than what he listed.
Last, 36 Chambers (not to mention some of the Wu-Tang solo albums and plenty others not mentioned yet ITT) is just a straight up better album than Outkast could've hoped to produce at the peak of their career.
(I like Outkast's good releases just fine btw)

Im not saying Outkast is better because they're more popular. Reading comprehension mate. I'm saying it's ridiculous to say that Aquemini, a 90s multi-platinum album with multiple radio hits and people praising it from all over the country from all walks of life (hipster nerds, gangsters, average people, etc.), is just as reddit-oriented as an underground hip-hop album that is disproportionately popular amongst younger white people on the internet who had no prior love for hip-hop

>SRS and I Don't Like Shit are both improvements on Doris imo
the styles hardly comparable. SRS is an improvement on the “I’m depressed” album but it’s nothing like Doris.
As for Kanye, a lot of the tracks in MBDTF are overrated just for having catchy melodies, but are boring and repetitive to actually force yourself through. Also you’re absolutely bugging with I’m In It, that’s a good song.

36 Chambers would honestly be my pick for best rap album ever. Every rapper just brings their A game and the production is so perfectly grimy

I don't think MBDTF is repetitive at all. Each track gets steadily built on and becomes more layered as they progress. And I used to really like I'm In It, but I think Kanye's parts are pretty weak on that song now. Honestly, my personal pick for one of the best rap albums ever is KSG but I feel like that's too unpopular and so I can't put it up there

Endtroducing is king.

I disagree with it's designation though. Never did understand why the critics labeled it Hip Hop.
It's its own thing entirely.

>says "lol" and expects to be taken seriously
