>No sonic youth, failure, or tool
Based Failure fan. What would you put on? Fantastic Planet or Magnified?
No Veruca Salt is equally plebeian. If you put The Breeders on the List (which is a great inclusion), than American Thighs should be on there too.
>no Emergency and I
Fuckin plebs
Breeders are on there
>The fucking Bends top 3
>Dookie that high
>RHCP
>fucking Moby
At least they give Achtung Baby some credit and don't put Oasis on a pedestal I guess.
>Breeders are on there
That was my point.

Shit list
>Shit list
Mos def. They left Pearl Jam's best record off entirely (Vs.) and put Ten way too high.
I'm not even a U2 hater but Achtung Baby is a little high. It's a great record though but I'd put some of those on the list ahead of it. I'd put Violator, S&E, OKC, Loveless, Weezer, andIn Utero ahead of it. Zooropa shouldn't even be ranked.
These are all good albums tho
ranked way too high though, especially moby
i dont particularly care for ten or that early 90s new jack swing r&b janet was doing at the time either
1: Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
2: Belle & Sebastian - If you’re feeling sinister
3: Nirvana - Nevermind
4: Neutral Milk Hotel - IATOS
5: Fugazi - Red Medicine
6: Weezer - Blue Album
7: Radiohead - The Bends
8: Ween - The Mollusk
9: Nirvana - In Utero
10: Vágtázó Halottkémek - Az Éden visszahódítása I
Moby should not be ranked. The rest of his list should be, even if they may be high.
I'd definetelly put The Downard Spiral first.
Ok Bends being above Ok Computer is retardation.
No way in hell Nevermind and Achtung Baby desrve to be that fucking high.
Superunknown needs to be above Nevermind
Californication shouldn't be there.
Definitely Maybe should be above Morning Glory
Bridges to Babylon is not an album worth mentioning.
Madonna shouldn't be there
Grace needs to be far higher
>1: Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
Why stop at the 90s for that maestrowork? Best record in the last 50 years, easy.
>the rolling stones
Wait I just realized they actually ranked a post-70s rolling stones album in the top decade list. The Stones were firmly boomer legacy act status at that time.
rolling stone gives the new u2 albums 5 stars, they gave that iphone album aoty
>Rolling Stone's list of the
Stopped reading.
No PotUSA
Shameful
They're extremely biased towards the 60s-70s.
grace should be higher
sleater kinney sucks ass
too much rap
wilco is shit
twin infinitives should be on there
This is a pretty based list ngl
desu it's not a bad album, but yeah, shouldn't be on the list
They also put Tattoo You in the top 30 on the 80s list
It’s in my top 10 all time for sure
All of them are pretty much equal in quality with one another so it’s hard for me to pick one as definitively best all time.
Tattoo You and Bridges to Babylon are both fine, just not "Top 100 of the decade" material.
it doesn't belong there based on merit but at the very least start me up was at least a relevant hit, nobody cared about new stones material in the late 90s
>2 Pavement albums in the top 20
>Siamese Dream - 33
Billy's gunna be pissed.
They both have two albums there, ain't that big of a discrepancy
>no Method Man
>no Redman
>no Method Man & Redman
>no Mos Def/Talib Kweli
>Illmatic behind Slim Shady LP, etc
>Doggystyle ahead of All Eyez On Me
>no DMX
>no Busta Rhymes
a cumskin wrote this list
>Billy's gunna be pissed.
Haha, and Billy would be like the only person on the planet to get mad about shit like this.
He'll still be pissed. It's Billy.
I legit have no idea who Lucinda Williams is, and it's ranked higher than Beck, Oasis, RATM, Nirvana, Bjork, Wutang, RHCP, etc
Who in the fuck is Lucinda Willims
Correct
pleb
Country singer. That album won all the Grammys and RS cares about shit like that.
some country bullshit
you've never listened to her album
>country
and i never will
based pearl jam
That album is amazing.
>based pearl jam
Vitalogy has like 4, maybe 5 at most good tracks. Somehow gets #55. Based indeed.
Yeh but Mellon Collie is at fucking 95. Shit barely made it.
No Code > everything else Pearl Jam did
this entire list is just cringe. Nevermind at 1? Grunge killed hair metal then almost immediately got killed by pop-punk. Even when it was in the spotlight there were only a few decent grunge bands and none of those bands made anything phenomenal.
>haha it's bad even though i haven't listened to it
moron
Cringe.
>Yeh but Mellon Collie is at fucking 95. Shit barely made it.
Which is kinda ridiculous when in Rolling Stone's top 50 grunge albums they made a point of calling Mellon Collie 'the end of Grunge'. Really a landmark record which was everywhere in 96 and the top selling double-album in the 90s as well. By 97 the musical landscape was vastly changing with Third Eye Blind and soon after nu-metal being at the top of rock.
>He cradles the Spin the Black Circle Single as he falls asleep.
I can safely ignore this list.
PITCHFORK'S TOP 100 albums of the 90s list made in 1999 (pic related)
MUCH MUCH better
their 2003 list is shit tier
No shame in that, it's good shit
Are you fucking retarded? Of coure you can safely ignore it, it won't reach out of the fucking screen and shoot you, dumb fuck.
tori amos is so shit
Hell, even Siamese Dream is behind Liz Phair, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Mary J. Blige, and Janet Jackson. That is fucking retarded. God, I hate Rolling Kidney Stone.
And their 2003 80s albums list is way better than their 2018 one
Who hurt you?
>No shame in that, it's good shit
Sure if you enjoy Pearl Jam listening to Dookie and saying: "oh shit, we better try to sound young and hip again!"
released the same year
I hear ya. Kinda think Rolling Stone might have done it on purpose to get a reaction out of Billy and/or they want to show they don't agree with his politics. Whatever, Mellon Collie and SD will always be at the very top of the genre.
>Nevermind above In Utero
>Morning Glory above Definetely Maybe
>Bruce Springsteen
>Guns N' Roses
>U2
cringe
>released the same year
Dookie was released in Feb 1994. Vitalogy didn't wrap up recording until Oct 1994, after Longview and especially Basket Case had blown up, all data I just took from wiki.
Don't talk siht about pringteen
yeah released the same year
>Thinks Pearl Jam was influenced by Dookie
Oh fuck my sides
Utterly based
Fuck u2 in their gay asses, they shouldn’t be allowed to make music
How the fuck is Rage Against The Machine only listed because of their final album? Their first two albums are much better and much more influential than the 3rd and final album. They fucked up.
Sweater kinny but not Elliott Smith...
>yeah released the same year
Pearl Jam clearly couldn't listen to the over 6 months and come up with a song like Spin the Black Circle in a couple days?
Anyway, my opinion on the song isn't new, from the Spin the Black Circle Wiki, "David Browne of Entertainment Weekly said that it sounds "a little flabby, like dinosaur rockers trying to prove they're into Green Day." en.wikipedia.org
I goofed up, but how is The Battle Of Los Angeles better than Evil Empire? They still fucked up Rage's entry on this list.
Billy is literally one of the voters on Rolling Stone's lists
THIS is pretty reasonable
It's really not. It reads like a Nazi wrote it
i don't know what you're talking about i just said they were released the same year
Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty all deserve to be on this list. The Beastie Boys from Paul's Boutique - Hello Nasty defined Hip Hop and are better than 99% of the stuff put out today. Deal with it.
Their debut is on there you fuckwad
Then why are you arguing with me like another user was upthread? Oh well, nevermind then.
This is just some rolling stone bullshit dad could you at least try to listen to something new this year?
Yeah, I corrected myself
Ill Communication is on the RS list and Check Your Head is on the P4 list. I don't know what you're talking about though.
Oh, good on you. One love.
Go heck urself user
i'm not arguing i was just saying a fact
cringe
Everyone in the Chan gang (AKA "users of Yea Forums.org") knows that emotions > logic
Hello Nasty needs to be involved. I saw that Ill Communication and Check Your Head were on similar lists, but Hello Nasty is the final chapter in the four straight albums that defined hip hop / rap for not only the eras during which they were created but of all time. Hip hop / rap artists struggle to remain relevant album to album, and they did it in 4 straight. People underestimate how great they were. I'm just shedding light on Hello Nasty being ignored for undue reasons.
r/iamveryrandom
>Go heck urself user
Go what? I showed proof that at least one critic supported my position that Spin the Black Circle was a lame reaction by Pearl Jam to Dookie's success, and the timing makes it possible. I feel sorry for Vitalogy fags, but hey at least Corduroy is one of their best tracks.
An irrelevant fact, so there is our argument, relevance.
Who did David Geffen suck off at Rolling Stone to get them to fawn over Nirvana so much? And why has this marketing campaign lasted this long?
kill yourself
what argument why are you arguing i'm not arguing you are arguing
based
>someone thinks same thing as me so i am correct!
Cringe
>morning glory above definitely maybe
shit taste
So I appeal to authority and establish timeline to make a reasonable argument that Green Day impacted the great gods of rock in Pearl Jam. You just stamp your feet and ad-hominem because I dared to criticize a song you like.
>Oasis
Shit taste
Because your assertion is fucking stupid. It sounds nothing like Green Day.
Right. Sure.
Dookie is a solid album but they did nothing to further great music or inspire actual great acts after them. Green Day mastered a dead end style of music, and no one that is worthy of accolades or praise at the higher reaches of music would place them at the premier level of influence. Green Day was worth being in the discussion for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but there's an equal reason to not have put them in. The Hall is a joke these days.
>appeal to authority
literally a logical fallacy
shit opinion grunge is still more influential today than you realize
Dude just needs to give up
I guess I should finally listen to Nevermind

the entirety of 2000s radio rock
What are old ass people like Tom Waits, Dylan, and Springsteen doing there? And Waits is there twice? Wtf?
>2000s radio rock
>influental today
try again
I'd say that 00s rock owes more to Television, Joy Division, and The Cars than any grunge band.
what do you mean by this im confuse
>81. Counting Crows - August and Everything
lol
Nah
this
beastie boys are fuckin based and paved heavy ground
It owes most to 1977 Iggy Pop
kids today still listen to grunge more than any of this other bullshit you are talking about
I'd assume he means it's almost entirely white
Based
If kids like rock/grunge music so much why is it no longer mainstream?
Ik. Wasn't Tom Waits pretty much irrelevant by the 90s?
Retarded list
this but unironically

why is that PUP album there you retard, it came out in 2016
Nevermind is 1 so that's all that matters.
