I listened to Frantic, and I thought it was fun... nice fast rock music...
>Muh production Agree, the snares aren't perfect, but I kinda like the rawness
>Muh lyrics Yeah, like if Heavy Metal lyrics are usually Shakespeare and only this stands out in being teenager edgelord stuff.
I rather felt, it was more of a "cool to hate" thing. And I simply don't get why this is the 0/10 that everyone is seeing (now with "Lulu", I do understand).
Load and Reload were not a good direction for Metallica, but St. Anger is a complete joke. It takes anything Metallica does well and shits on it intentionally. And then they make a movie about it showing you how much of a clusterfuck it was for them.
Justin Rodriguez
I remember listening to 2-3 songs when it first came out and I instantly hated it. By far their worst album. I don't know what Lars was thinking with those awful fucking drums.
Adam Reyes
I remember watching them play St Anger live a few years after. Significantly shorter with better drums. Shame the whole album wasn't like that.
Brandon Peterson
Prince Charming was a classic, speaking of hated music. The girl I wished to end up with hopes I get cancer because of it to the point I hate myself
Kayden Hall
Reload is underrated.
Jordan Perez
>Yea Forums acknowledging that Load/Reload is worse than St. Anger Utterly based
Leo Thomas
st anger is a genuinely ugly, angry album. one of the ugliest and angriest i've ever heard. middle-aged alcoholic rage given musical form. its flaws include clumsy lyricism and bloated songwriting, but on the whole it's a very expressive and impressive album.
Eli Lewis
OP here. Load felt like biker rock music. Wasn't bad, but most songs were unmemorable. I do like the first track of it though.
Anthony Evans
back in my 'metal years' I used to dislike/listen to some songs on this album ironically, but I came back to it years later and it's probably one of my favorite album by them. There's amazing riffs, and they're garage raw. James' singing is interesting on it too and the album does bring a great atmosphere. Great summer album too. However I do think some of the songs drag on at times. Best tunes from the album: >frantic >all within my hands >purify
Eli Ortiz
I unironically like a lot of tracks on this album, especially the first three, my world, purify and the unnamed feeling. I listened to it a shitload when I was younger. I actually consider Sweet Amber and Invisible kid two of worst tracks, despite both being common favorite picks
I realize the snare is fucking ridiculous, the lyrics are hilarious, and Hetfield sounds like shit, but it’s all part of the entertainment value. Parts of the album sound genuinely good to me, and it all adds up to a decently enjoyable experience
Also it has Pushead artwork, shame they didn’t put some of his skulls on the front cover
Logan Gomez
what genre is Load/ReLoad? Friend of mine compares it to Heavy Psych of the 60/70s and AiC
Bentley Richardson
Sorta something like that. Dunno but I always get the picture of Harley Davidson and burnout alcoholic rockers with bandana caps when listening to it.
Old school metal was still decent though. Still had dynamics and melodies. Now it's all being brutal, edgy and growling and shit.
Gabriel Reyes
Songs are too long. They need to be 2-3 minutes shorter.
Thomas Hernandez
what's wrong with biker metal?
Benjamin Davis
I can agree that Loads best track was the first one, I also somewhat enjoyed Bleeding Me.
Levi Edwards
It feels a little dull desu. I like the elements of Blues and Rock n Roll, in contrast to the crappy edgelord noise that modern metal is (as I mentioned before). I also like the dirty yet melodic guitar sound.
But most of the motorcycle rock songs aren't really interesting enough for repeated listens. Most also sound the same.
Luke Johnson
biker metal? isn't that like 'born to be wild', ACDC, and 'wild thing'?
Xavier Jackson
Load, Reload, Lulu, Death Magnetic.
Robert Nelson
This is a really nice take on it. Also, Frantic is a genuinelly good song.
Xavier Gutierrez
It's the thing you usually hear in those rocker pubs.
Eli Anderson
This can be easily fixed by just some editing, I could do it. All of those could be hardcore punk lenght or something
Kevin Brooks
in what universe is St Anger better than Death Magnetic?
also Justice>Master>Lightning>Magnetic>Black>KeA>Load>Reload>Anger
Lulu also exists
John Cooper
This. St Anger is top 3 in their discography imo.
Ryder Nelson
just don't like any metallica, rock or any of this heavy hard rock music stuff. i'm just not into distorted electric guitar and I think they sound horrible and are a nuisance to my ears
Ethan Williams
If you watch Some Kind of Monster you can see that all songs they made before James' rehabilitation is pure shit.
