I just keep listening to my local library, getting music is a hassle and even after trying one or two track of a new band/album a lot of the time i end up not liking any of their other stuff. the thing that intrigues me is indeed your question, that is, how one enjoy new music, a lot of the time it ends up being a waste of time specially when one can listen to something he/she enjoys surely.

never saw it that way, I am gonna try that, because a lot of the time the similar bands according to algorithms are hardly similar, for example the beatles is considered really similar to the kinks, but I can't enjoy Beatles but I really like the kinks.

I somewhat feel that. When listening to a new album I usually do it when doing something else. Walks are good for that. Even if I don't like what I'm listening to all that much I still prefer it to the silence. Lets me give an album a fair chance.
