you just KNOW

fyi OP songwriting encompasses more than just writing lyrics. Just giving you a heads up so you dont embarrassingly misuse the term irl

Lyrics are literally the least important part of music. Seriously, you could be singing about baking a dog turd and I would overlook it as long as the rest of the music sounded good.

What is pop music

Personal Picks
>Michael Gira
>Rowland S. Howard
>for punk and goth music Peter Murphy
>Devendra Banhart
>ofc Bob Dylan

thanks for letting us know you prefer the picture book equivalent of music.

What a fucking moronic statement. It's fucking music. The actual music should always come first. I'm not listening to song where it's just the same chords being strummed on an acoustic guitar and some dweeb doing storytime.

Dan Bejar (Destroyer)
Malkmus
Jason Molina
Isaac Brock
Bill Doss/Will Cullen Hart
A. Savage

This picture proves they dated.

u mad?

One of the stupidest things I've seen written on this board.

a picture book is something that more directly expresses ideas (as in, conveys a message without putting it in language) the same way music without lyrics does. Chill out with that inferiority complex bruh

Ron Mael is the only good answer

but why not? Different forms of musical artist expression are valid from one another for different reasons. Claiming that lyrics aren't important for any kind of music is just tiny brain closed minded turbopleb tier. I'll love an instrumental track or a track with mediocre lyrics if the instrumentation is good but that doesnt mean that that should be the only thing of worth in all other music as well.

the dude is clearly young. he'll come around. Or not I guess lol

Ebin dubbl b8 man

Since literally the dawn of human history, music has been used to accompany poetry. You may prefer the music to the lyrics, but it doesn't mean you're a pleb if you care about lyrics too.

Costello
Morrissey

Oh yeah, he's the young one here!

Based centrist

Jesse Lacey

Besides the typical answers I’ll throw in a wild card, John Congleton

Trent Reznor
Michael Gira
Elton John

Ian Stuart Donaldson
