Holy shit fucking stop with this "importance" bullshit. If no one has heard it, it's not important regardless of how good it is. Japan is an extremely insular music industry, that's intentional and a matter of national pride for a lot of groups. Stop misrepresenting it.
I'm not misrepresenting anything, you stupid piece of shit. Pretty much all of these are internationally known, you're just a pleb. Bands like Boredoms and Shonen Knife are actually more successful in the US and Europe than they are at home in Japan.

Gesu No Kiwami Otome
Kinoko Teikoku
Soutaiseiriron
These are some of my favorites, recommend them all, pic related is my favorite of all
Boredoms is not one of the most important noise rock bands "of all time" you fucking sperg. Neither is Swans. You're talking about two extremely insular fan bases that have overrated the impact of everything those two groups have done. Fuck off.
indigo la end
You fuck off, noise rock itself is an obscure genre and these are its defining bands. Stop being a faggot and kill yourself.
>hurrr I haven’t heard of it so there
You should stop misrepresenting yourself as being important

BiSH is pretty good
1) Guitar Wolf are a major garage punk/noise rock band that basically plays slightly kitschy, very rockabilly-influenced 90s garage punk, to Pussy Galore or New Bomb Turks.
2) Shonen Knife were a key 80s underground band and were big for Kurt Cobain. Basically made "kawaii" punk.
3) Boredoms are a defining noise rock band, up there with Sonic Youth terms of importance.
4) Xinlisupreme had a lot of buzz in the 00s and basically mix shoegaze, noise rock, and EDM.
5) Glay started out visual kei, but developed into glam rock-influenced alternative rock.
6) T.M.Revolution are a major J-Rock band, popularized for doing the Rurouni Kenshin outro.
7) Confuse are the second most important Japanese D-Beat band, after GISM, but I prefer them
8) Aube is a key noise artist.
9) The Pillows are an indie band that does anime soundtracks.
10) Yoko Kanno may be the most prolific Japanese film/TV composer.
11) Gallhammer is a major blackened crust band.
12) Melt-Banana are one of the most popular noise rock bands.
13) Envy is the band that pioneered the post-rock/screamo fusion along with Funeral Diner. I suspect the fusion influenced many blackgaze bands.
14) Flower Travellin' Band have been called the Japanese Led Zeppelin. They incorporated Buddhist music and themes into heavy psych.
15) BiS are an "anti-idol" band that incorporates gabber and disturbing visuals to subvert the idol genre.
16) Mass of the Fermenting Dregs are a Yea Forumscore band that blurs the line between post-hardcore and shoegaze.
Anyone for wagakki ?
I've heard of all of those bands. I've listened to all of those bands for well over a decade. I also know that they're not as big and as important as you think they are. Stop trying to rewrite history.

Ok so you heard of them, great!
Now stop trying to misrepresent yourself as important
>AGGGHHH STOP DISCREDITNG MY COOL INTERNET CLUB!!!
Read a fucking book. These aren't the bands that mattered. They're good. I like all of them, but those aren't the ones that people were listening to. If people didn't hear it, it didn't historically matter. That's a fact.

Here's Boredoms playing the main stage at Lollapalooza in 1994: youtube.com
On Shonen Knife:
> Shonen Knife's track, "One Day of the Factory", appeared on a Sub Pop 100 compilation.[4] The album was released on November 1, 1986 by the independent record label Sub Pop.[2] Soon after, Shonen Knife began receiving lucrative offers from a range of US labels. By this time, many alternative rock groups had begun citing Shonen Knife as a favorite of theirs, and the resulting word-of-mouth created significant exposure for the band. On March 26, 1987, the trio's songs begin receiving spins on BBC radio from the English disc jockey John Peel.[2] After spending some time concentrating on their live performances, they had the opportunity to play with Sonic Youth as guests at the Muse Hall in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. (The two bands even shared the stage during the show's encore.)[2] Shonen Knife then embarked on their very first show abroad, playing at 2nd Coming in Los Angeles with the support of Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth and Jeff and Steven McDonald of Redd Kross.[2][8] Shonen Knife's popularity with alternative rock musicians was perhaps best expressed in 1989, when over twenty different bands came together to record renditions of their favorite Shonen Knife songs for a tribute album entitled Every Band Has a Shonen Knife Who Loves Them.[9][10]
> The video came to be quite popular on MTV, eventually landing a spot on the station's hit animated series Beavis & Butthead.[8] Shonen Knife then launched a twenty-nine show tour through the United States and Canada spanning April 14 to May 25. Over the course of the tour, the trio appeared on myriad radio programs and television shows, such as MTV's 120 minutes and Conan O'Brien.
Shonen Knife mattered. Largely due to Beat Happening who brought it to Kurt Cobain. I never singled them out. Boredoms was still a novelty, they are to this day. They're not one of the "most important noise rock groups of all time." Hardly anyone listened to them compared to Sonic Youth, Butthole Surfers, Jesus Lizard etc. Stop kidding yourself.
Ling tosite sigure is my fav post-hardcore semi-shoegaze indie band.

They have a sister band called TK from ling tosite sigure with rad tracks as well, albeit featuring a line up of instruments and styles. Check them out on youtube
That's not true, and I'm not "kidding myself." You're literally just undermining this thread because you're mad I called a popular noise rock band important. Look at your life. You're a fucking moron.
All that you’ve really accomplished is making yourself look like a pseud
So keep going if you want
> If the right people hear it, then it did historically matter.
Fixed that for you angry guy, no need to thank me
It is true, there are numbers that verify it. Look at the fucking charts. Boredoms never charted. Not in the US, not in Japan, not in the UK. Jesus Lizard did. Butthole surfers did. Sonic Youth did. You don't know what you're talking about.
>pseud
No. The real pseuds are the ones divoricing music from it's context to use in place of a personality.
>NO WAY BRO, THIS IS SO IMPORTANT LIKE NO ONE HEARD THIS ITS SUCH A BIG DEAL.
fuck outta here.
Fair enough, which is certainly the case with Shonen Knife and The Pillows. That's not the case with Boredoms or Melt-Banana. And for the record I like those bands way better than the bands I listed that mattered, save for Jesus Lizard.
Got the Nivarna vibe from shonen knife

Té , they're a great post-rock band
I really like this band.
you're the only one who's mentioned L'arc~en~Ciel in this thread so i will take your suggestions gratefully
No one recc’d then because literally everyone already knows about them
Decent, thanks
I used to like Shishamo but then got tired of them real fast. Almost all of their songs seem to have this feeling of same-ness.
