Generous spot for U2 and Eagles. Take out AC/DC, NIN, Eminem, and GNR. Add Joy Division / New Order, Tom Waits, King Crimson and Kanye.

the top 20 is pretty based

Talking Heads should be higher, the Police not on there, put Kanye in the top 20

>literally who: the list

Same boomer cocksucking as always out of Rolling Stone. Can't blame 'um. Olds are the only ones who buy magazines.
Next.

>1. The Beatles

I don't care for the rest. This alone makes the list pretty based.

>30.Nirvana
I don't know about that.

>71.Radiohead
Based.

beatles, elvis then the rest

>U2
NO

Nah, the Police are based

>3. Elvis Presley
>12. The Beach Boys

Fats Domino should be in the top 10.

>the literal who
Uhhh no

Now that's what I call Boomer

Kanye himself pays respect to the Police, dude..youtube.com/watch?v=IwbFp2Igo0I Ignore the celebrity faggotry. Also all five of their albums are pop masterpieces or really great and they very quietly kickstarted the indie movement.

predictable and filled with artists I don’t care about

it’s the only correct answer

>1. The Beatles
lol

>13. Buddy Holy
He really is.

I agree should be 0. As they are the greatest so the spot should just be conceded and almost not brought into conservation. Beatles Always number 1, but whos next.

I agree that the Police should be there and all of their albums are great, but what the fuck do they have to do with indie music? They were literally the biggest band in the world.

>35. Michael jackson
>35
No.

>no Carole King
>Joni Mitchell being that low
>Pink Floyd being that low
So much of this list is wrong I don’t even want to type it out

why did you take all of the time to write them out? you could have doe something better you know

/thread

Based
Black Sabbath is an obvious second though

They introduced something called copy/paste on typewriters now grandpa.

Why isn’t Sophie on this list?

Who the fuck is sophie? Ellis-baxter? That's why

In 1979 they, against their record labels wishes and with zero funding from them they made a quick tour of the East Coast of the US to see if they could change their fortunes. It totally worked. Miles Copeland, their manager, was always a champion of not owing the label too much. Less advance payments from the label meant less label influence and better royalty rates. Miles would later carry this onto his label IRS. IRS actually at the beginning had indie cred. REM, fathers of alt rock, would be their most notable signing but IRS also took chances on the Cramps and Oingo Boingo.

Jimi Hendrix
James Brown
Little Richard
The Beach Boys
Buddy Holly
Bruce Springsteen
Prince
David Bowie
Pink Floyd
Joni Mitchell
Frank Zappa

Talking Heads
deserve to be on this list

People like Bach, Brahms, Beethoven, Chopin, Kraftwerk, Sparks, Brian Eno, Steely Dan, Can, Neu!, Fleetwood Mac, The Residents, Leonard Cohen, Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk etc. should be on here

where's weezer?

Joy Division and New Order are 2 different bands

How is it any different than including Gram Parsons, John Lydon, Eric Clapton, or George Clinton?

Beatles deserve it because Paul is so goddamn BASED
youtube.com/watch?v=ZGrZv0_eOBM

They had solo careers dipshit. Your comment makes no sense.

This list is terrible. Eminem being on it and 2pac. Metallica is the worst obligatory metal entry. AC/DC? They had some songs that were jams but they weren't seriously good. They're ironically good.

You do know he invented rock and roll right?

Led Zeppelin also deserves it desu

but agreed, where are Davis, Coltrane, etc?

>Fleetwood Mac
And you were doing so well...

Attached: Kitty Pryde .jpg (275x184, 7K)

It's a rock list...

>ray charles
>madonna
>eminem
i could list more

The Scaruffi's definition of rock. Like in "popular music after the 60's = pop = rock."

a pure boomer's list

hey retard Eminem, Jay-Z, Run-DMC, and Dr. Dre are on the list.

No Nick Drake?

What's up with Lou Reed being on there but not The Velvet Underground?

>Rem
>Santana
>Jay Z
>2pac
>Eminem
>Beastie boys
>Dr.dre
>Ac/dc
>Nirvana
>Ramones
>Prince
>The clash
Shit tier list

If you don't know literally all of these, you don't belong on a music board.

John Lydon didn't

Lou Reed is listed to account for his entire career, including the Velvets

Finally, a comprehensive list of overrated normie-tier garbage that should be banished from Yea Forums

A lot of boomers only know Lou Reed.

*takes air*

THE FACT THAT

According to Scaruffi, Christgau and Rolling Stones, hip-hop is part of "rock music".

Based

>Trips confirm
This is the darkest timeline.

>not a single artists who got their start in the 21st century
Did Y2K stop music for Rolling Stone?

It's a very Rolling Stone list.

The 2000's were a horrible time for music and the 2010's are only slightly better.

That is unironically cringe. I'm glad Kanye isn't like that anymore.

Do you have a source on that?

Rolling Stone is embarrasing and should be taken as seriously as a middle schooler that listen's to their dad's record collection

RSM's audience are 45 year old men who wear Vin Diesel XXX shades.

>Radiohead are mor deserving than Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, R.E.M., Van Morrison, Sly Stone, The Clash, Neil Young etc.
Literally kill yourself you fucking faggot

Cringe

where are TVU? i only see Lou Reed but he´s not the entire band

I think 2pac should be higher

TVU is mentioned in the Lou write up, his place is obviously accounting for both solo Lou and TVU

based

>100 bands your dad likes

>Prince
>George Clinton

This list is missing MatPat’s wife Stephanie.

Anything made past the 90s is garbage

>Nirvana above Talking Heads and David Bowie
An absolute mongoloid made this list

>Aerosmith
>Guns N' Roses

Attached: ih98h.png (430x503, 369K)

A bit moronic, since Lou was not all of what made TVU great.

>1. The Beatles
stopped reading here
I can already tell the rest of the list will be shit.

Based on what this list was made? This artists were good in their respective era but at least half of them were not influential at all.
New Order/Joy Division, Sonic Youth, Pixies and Death are missing for example.

>No Killers or Fleetwood
Based, all they gotta do now is remove Eagles and it'll be perfect

>Michael Jackson not in top 10
> Chuck Berry and Little Richard in top 10
> REM even on the list
> Rappers even being on the list
> Dylan #2

Absolute Trash.

Did they make a new one?

>beatles
Not at all surprised, its rolling stone magazine(for retards such as nu-mu)
