an album as popular as this has no right to be this good
An album as popular as this has no right to be this good
popular = good
songs with less than 1mln views are shit
It’s overrated, same thing with NMH
I’m convinced no one else on this board is older than 22, all this teenage angst retard music is irritating
>Remain in Light
>teenage angst
enjoy your autism
Remain in Light is one of the least angsty albums I can think of. It's just pure jams.
nice bait
Not an argument.
It’s good but take off the goggles. It’s just surface level pretentiousness. If you like it it’s fine but damn, I can’t listen for that long
>If you like it it’s fine but damn, I can’t listen for that long
regardless if you like it it was innovative in alot of ways... thats why its important
Meh, RIH really didn’t do anything special that leftover 70s bands weren’t already experimenting with. It was just marketed heavily and has the great sounds to cover its weight. Since value is a first principle there’s no point arguing about the quality of the music, so we’ll stop here
Mmm, post 70s rock didn't innovative in nothing, so it's not an argument.
This is the most overrated album ever made
The writing is okay, definitely a lack of angst (which is refreshing when you only listen to slowcore) and there are some quirky characteristics that can get tiring. The production is a big part of what I enjoy
>album can't be popular and good at the same time
kill yourself pretentious hipster scum
Glad you like it user. Hope it makes you happy, like how my favs do
>when the rip off is better
That's not the case.
Reductio ad absurdum:
Hypothesis: Good music finds it way in the wild and always becomes relatively popular (1mln+ on youtube or equivalent) in a reasonable amount of time. If music is not popular it's not good (not good enough to be popular)
>On it's release "pink moon" by Nick Drake wasn't well known. For 10+ years
>critics said that few tracks stood on their own
>no youtube then but definitively would've been twenty years later it starts becoming relevant
>25+ years after it's release it ends up in a car commercial, gaining even more fame and recognition
>now it is considered a classic, critics adore it
>title track 3.2mln on youtube
As we see the album is good (good enough to become popular). But at (*) we said it wasn't good (because it wasn't good enough to become popular)
We've reached absurdity. This means that our hypothesis was wrong.
It follows that good music (good enough to be popular) is not necessarily popular, and your post is wrong
i said it ironically btw
based scientific method poster
God 80's music is so cringe
Aside from having Adrian, it's not much like TH. And that's a good thing!
XTC will always be the superior new wave band anyway.
>teenage angst
All of the "angsty" songs on this record are about adulthood
wtf you wrote all that replying to a joke? kys
I know people irl that believe that, and people who I respect who listen to some good music too (for example Jethro tull, genesis)
So I already wanted to put my thoughts of this into words, also I thought making it into a math-like proof would be funny
First side is god tier rock bangers, then after Houses in Motion the album is just decent.
as a boomer who has wittnessed the rise and fall of this board, I can agree that Remain in Light is overrated and should never have been switched to Yea Forumscore. It was fine where it was in pitchfork-core. You are dead wrong on NMH though and you have no grounds to say that IAOTS wasn't one of the two albums to define this board
Talking Heads is reddit music
I think this album is genius, but for just pure fun listening experience I have to put Speaking In Tongues over it.
Reminder that living in the 80s was based
>Do coke
>Vote for Reagan
>Six figure office jobs for young people
>Trickle your money down to your coke dealer and 9 girlfriends
>Do coke
None of those albums are teenage angst albums. Stop projecting, you're embarrasing yourself.
fuck you
>haha the suit he wears is too big for him xD
