Nirvana. GNR are awesome but none of their shit is as memorable as In Utero. Also, Nirvana is more diverse.

In what way though? Nirvana is pretty basic, GnR have experimented a lot more with different styles, sounds, instruments, vocal stylings, etc...you might get a whistle solo, pianno, a number of layered background vocals, something fun, something soft, something hard, something angry, something thoughtful, something political, something romantic....Nirvana is pretty bare bones. GnR can go from Nightrain (typical sleaze rock) to November Rain (epic love song) to Garden Of Eden (basically a rap metal song) to whatever the hell combination of anything 90's you want to call Chinese Democracy. I can't think of a single Nirvana song that ever seemed like it was them branching out or moving beyond what they do on any other song...it's always just the same mopey distorted power pop songwriting with nonsensical sarcastic lyrics
