Worst band of all time
Worst band of all time
Not as bad as igor
Can someone explain to me how is this band (U2) so popular? They're incredibly bland and boring.
lmao @ your life
HELLO HELLO IPHONE
IM SHILLING FOR THIS APPLE PHONE
it's music designed for mass appeal. sports stadiums and grocery stores. coldplay fans
still mad that bono fucked your mom?
you should go talk to someone about that. not here. somewhere else.
Dumb ass zoomers, they made great post punk. I don’t expect you to know about that since you’re too busy listening to Tyler the nigger and Gay Impala
theit first few albums are enjoyable, user is under 18
Boy through the unforgettable fire was awesome
early u2 being tolerable doesnt excuse the two decades of shitty music
they have quite literally never been good in my lifetime
achtung baby was their last album considered "good" by the majority of people, and that was what 30 years ago?
fuck off zoomer, U2 from Boy to Achtung Baby is untouchable
Black bandanna, sweet Louisiana
Robbing on a bank in the state of Indiana
She's a runner
Rebel, and a stunner
On her merry way saying baby, watcha gonna?
Looking down the barrel of a hot metal forty-five
Just another way to survive
most bands suck after 20 years desu. happened to weezer, beach boys, rolling stones, rhcp, oasis. even the cure and depeche mode even made some crap albums in the 2000s. but these bands bad later stuff doesn't ruin the legacy of their older work, but i wonder why it does for U2? i bet it's the apple thing
rattle and hum sucks though, but mostly agree
zooropa has it's moments too and passengers with eno is good
man you’re not even trying
All those bands suck except for Beach Boys and The Cure.
U2 at their best were basically coldplay or echo and the bunnymen for stadiums. Overrated.
sneed
tyler >>>> u2
lol lame ass boomer
It's been said before, but if you avoid anything after Pop they're pretty good. All That You Can't Leave Behind isn't even that bad, it's just when they started making more safe music. The album after that with Vertigo on it is when it started going to total shit.
Nah dude their entire discography is trash. There were far better post-punk available back then
California rest in peace
They're definitely not as good as The Smiths or The Cure or Bauhaus or Television or Gang of Four or JD or something, but they have their moments. For a band that is A-list stadium tier, they're good. Compared to the post punk greats and the underground, they're average.
Pretty much and what makes it worse is that they take themselves so fucking seriously, I mean just look at the pic
lol
I will never forgive them for that iphone garbage. Literally corporate rock and the musical equivalent of an unsolicited dick pic.
Joshua Tree, Achtung and early U2 is good.
Because irony and nihilism is so much better huh zoomer
No way, U2 hit places most musicians struggle to hit back in their early days.
Their new music is absolute trash though.
Animal Collective is the worst band of all time
is bono standing on top of a couple of milk crates or are there rest of the band midgets too
What happened ay?
Cocaine?
everyone agrees it's U2
They got their fame in the 80s and early 90s when their music was good, and despite phoning it in ever since the reputation of their early work has not let the bad stuff overshadow it.
BAsed
agreed
red rocks is an incredible concert, the u2 haters should watch that before writing them off
they didnt get irredeemably shit until atomic bomb
pop was pretty bad but they at least tried experimenting with their sound on it
all you can't leave behind is the beginning of the descent into full momrock but they can still write good hooks at this point
before that they're cool, zooropa and rattle and hum are the only iffy ones
based and redpilled
If they had only made it optional it could've worked, but they took it too far. As far as I can remember a bulk of the U2 hate began or at least skyrocketed with that incident.
The voices in your head aren't IRL, user
The US festival comes to mind. At that stage they were fresh from Ireland during the peak of "the troubles".
Those "troubles" are flaring up again thanks to Brexit.
Ireland has been at war with England for centuries, nearly a millennia. It's still happening, only now it's in the form of Catholicism v Protestantism. In the past it was Irish clans v Anglo Irish.
U2 we're never good.
Their early "post-punk" that some of you still defend is Lifetime Network Oprah Winfrey Enya tier saccharine garbage with more posturing than ELP at their worst could even conjure.
their sound in the 80s was unique, it sounds generic now but there were few ballads like that before then
they sort of tapered out since sometime in the 90s and now they are a bunch of old farts
i would prefer to see more big bands/groups to go on permanent hiatus at some point and only get back together for the occasional tour playing the old stuff rather than churning out tons of new record, maybe start other projects but leave that successful one as is. a musical piece of art preserved in the period it was created in that milks their now boomer fans for easy profit from time to time instead of shitting all over their own discography with forgettable records
*were
Being mediocre is worse than being bad
Boy and War are fantastic albums.
>U2 thread
>someone defends their early "sincere post-punk" material
u2 have always been sappy, contrived, and tooth-achingly sugary.
It's like that wanted to infiltrate post-punk but still embody everything that punk wanted to rebel against.
If Hallmark Christmas movies were a band, it would be U2. At every stage of their career.
Henry Rollins on U2
youtube.com
Exactly.
Hey Aunt Sharon. Are you still going to bring the wine this Thanksgiving?
that's not Stone Temple Pilots
wtf I love U2 now!?!
/thread
U2 comes close though.
Calling U2 a good post-punk band in the same world the where The Fall, PiL and Wire exists is a fucking crime.
weezer doesn’t suck
The fall suck
i dont think they should be even compared to those, they should be compared to bryan adams and coldplay and bon jovi and bands like that.
The same way your mom doesn't but actually does
u2 is not real post-punk
Garbage taste.
Nonsense.
They just needed to stay closer to Ireland.
Joshua Tree was good, Achtung was interesting, but their Irish roots made them what they were up until the early 90's.
You here a glimmer of what they could still be in songs like "Beautiful Day" which if given more genuine artistic treatment could be great music that only they really can do.
But instead they caught Vertigo and then it became worse recently when they forced their shit down people's throats on itunes. That just put people off them. Why? It felt like an unashamed commercial push to the point where it no longer felt like genuine art like Achtung.
I hate henry rollins. The guy is a pretentious idiot.
stfu
what the fuck was that kendrick feature though lmao
Their Hail Mary at saving their reputation with people under 30.
They're significantly out of touch with the real world. I mean Ireland has flared up again and they're making shit music and drinking singapore slings in LA with niggers.
How can people on Yea Forums of all places unironically defend them? No critic worth their salt or legimate music fan thinks they've ever played one note of good music
boomers
Because Edge and Bono were actually a great mix once upon a time. Those melodies were brilliant. Absolutely hooked you the first time. Felt full of passion and soul.
The most boomer guy I know is an uncle of mine, he's like the stereotype boomer meme and he thinks U2 is just a shitty band meant for moms.
>when you're 58 years old, have been bald since you were 25, but still wear a beanie every day because you think no one else knows
t. zoomers that know nothing about U2 and have never actually heard the early post-punk albums (Boy, October, War) and their 90s albums (Achtung Baby, Zooropa, Passengers: Original Soundtracks 1, Pop)
I respectfully disagree.
Also... Really?!
Or it's just his thing? He was wearing that when he had hair.
I have and it was awful
People that rely on boomer/zoomer memes are reddit tier cancer.
Judge the music, not the people that listen to them.
You just have shit taste then.
I love this notion that all of U2's pre-Joshua Tree albums are some obscure underground shit that no one but the most underground have heard.
We have all heard Boy, War, October, and The Forgettable Fire.
They're all schmaltzy, unoriginal garbage that hit all of the sad marks of unironic, contrived posturing without a hint of sincerity.
lol you are the one who likes u2 nigga
You're the one that uses "lol' unironically, newfag.
Nah.
I'd rather stab my ears than listen to this garbage band
Kendrick is a big fan of theirs
I swear some concerts he did though.
Who cares?
>No critic worth their salt or legimate music fan thinks they've ever played one note of good music
Every music critics loves (20th century) U2.
In fact, the only people that don't love (20th century) U2 are jealous less successful bands and zoomers that only know Vertigo. Which is like only knowing The Beach Boys for Kokomo (and not Pet Sounds) or only knowing Paul McCartney for being that frog song guy (and not The Beatles).
Listen to Boy and Achtung Baby.
No they really don't
those albums still suck
Or knowing Radiohead only for Creep.
...wait.
U2: for when you're trying to get laid after the coffeehouse poetry reading, but your artfag date thinks Gene Loves Jezebel is just too "black"
Maybe because you're not related to Ireland and don't relate to Sunday Bloody Sunday.
He does. You do.
This sellout has no authority to speak on bands like U2. Their no worse than he is
U2: for people who like the precursor to Shoegaze
I never said they were obscure and underground.
Most U2 haters literally only know Vertigo and a couple of other post-prime hits.
(Although, to be fair, zoomers can't get into anything that isn't ironic. So their 90s catalogue would be more palatable to them than anything from the 80s.)
At least Rollins was authentic at the start. U2 was always industry plant tier
I wish he'd reform Black Flag and do stuff like "my war"
If you think U2 is bad, how can you not think Coldplay or Imagine Dragon is worse?
U2 are the Nutella of "breakfast" food.
Literally every critic loves U2
of all the u2 haters itt... what do you listen to? serious question
Viva La Vida is unironically a solid album and some of their early singles were good, just overplayed
Imagine Dragons is tied with U2 desu
>Literally every critic loves U2
maybe boomer ones
the new school, fantano, deep cuts, etc. hate them and rightfully so
Everyone on the planet has heard "New Year's Day" and "In The Name Of Love".
>Because irony and nihilism is so much better huh zoomer
implying I wasn't born in '76 you fucking moron, and quite literally grew up alongside U2 and still think they're shit
Rock and Roll Part 1 and 2
>how can you not think Coldplay or Imagine Dragon is worse?
Because their melodies, lyrics and songs suck.
Coldplay's "clocks" and "the scientist" is an exception.
> Imagine Dragon
Is today's Phil Collins.
>cannot think is worse
ignore I misread.
It's because of all the people that try to rep U2's authenticity, which doesn't happen with the two bands you mentioned.
People will remember if someone tries to sell them a turd as if it was a piece of chocolate, but they won't remember every piece of shit they had to avoid stepping on.
I want to be in your gang user
Early coldplay was good too though.
Their new stuff is absolutely horrendous.
Are you seriously going to try this?
What could you possibly expect to learn (or prove) by asking that question?
I'm the leader (I am)
Fantano is a YouTuber, not a critic.
Beatles, Velvet Underground and Public Imagine Ltd are my top 3 bands.
imagine being this much of a pleb. Go listen to Zooropa
U2 are the worst band because of their political meddling, especially the 1980s Live Aid, that quite literally caused african populations to explode in numbers, people who still can't fend for themselves years later despite billions being given in aid, a people who have become more and more dependent on foreign aid inturn creating even more numbers of starving aid-dependant people and responsible for pumping money into african countries that ended up being spent on arms inturn creating further instability and inturn being partly responsible for mass african migration into Europe, all the while U2 hold their heads high like the self-congratulatory demi-god champaign-socialists that love to give coerce others into giving money away to those less fortunate unless it's their own money.
Amongst 1001 other reasons, that is why U2 are a shit band
god i'd love you to molest me
Based
>"u2 are good bro"
>HELLO HELLO HOLA YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH
>ONE LOVE ONE HEART ONE LIFE IN THE NIGHT
>IN THE NAME OF LOVE
>I STILL HAVENT FOUND WHAT IM LOOKING FOR
>DIGGING A HOLE LIKE A MOLE ELEVATION YEAHHHHHHHHHH
>BEAUTIFUL DAY YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH
>WITH OR WITHOUT YOU YEAAAAHOOH
>SUNDAY BLOODY SUNDAY YEAHYEAH
>AFRICA WAKA WAKA FOR AFRICA YAEH
repeat over and over
U2 are based fuck all of you little pricks
U2 are the best band of all time.
But the beatles suck
U2 have shit politics.
But great music.
When they were more focused on Ireland they were amazing though.
3 of those are good rest are shit
Ok, fans. Post a clip of a U2 song that you think is great.
lmao for real these people acting like we never heard u2 before this shit was on the radio everywhere in 2005 when i was in my moms car
youtube.com
Those harmonics are bliss.
youtube.com
Not good sound, but the performance is there.
Bono hates Neutral Milk Hotel. He's not /ourguy/. He thinks Skrillex is better than ITAOTS.
Modern Bono is the biggest turd on the planet.
Nothing like kino Bono.
Hi Bono's mom!
He's right.
