How many albums should a person listen to before you can personally take their opinion seriously?
Be honest, Yea Forums
There is no way to quantify this
It's less about numbers and more about mindset and variety for me
At a point were their favorite albums aren't just copy and pasted from the essentials list.
There's no set number of albums one should hear before they're in "the know" and even if there were, the quality of albums you're listening to matters more than how many you've heard.
It's not about quantity, but about quality.
Here is an easy test: if they have listened to less than a hundred different classical composers, their taste in music sucks.
Easy peasy.
Tbh the only way I take someone's opinion on music seriously is if they play music themselves. Consuming media isn't a hobby or a personality
Can you name at least 10 classical composers?
I want to expand my musical landscape.

The only opinion you should ever take seriously is your own
Just listen to the same album as someone else and take it easy when theyre wrong
I take an option seriously if it is well argued, how would you know most of the time how many albums they have listened to.
10
I'd say it's less than that, frankly. Then again I probably have listened to around that many.
When they start having good taste
No, less than that makes you a pseud.
None, the moment a person listens to an album their opinions are rendered worthless.

uh like 1, but if they just listen to what's on the charts/whats popular im not gonna take their opinion seriously
Their favorite albums shouldn't be classics for the sake of liking classics but if their favorite albums are part of the canon that's fine imo. A well-loved album is well loved for a reason.
I would say 1k
