Kek, Tarot Sport is one of my least favorite records of all time. Just drags on and on, kind of like Long Season, but without being remotely cute.
In all honesty, ye was the first Kanye album i ever listened to. I think due to its brevity, and its interweaving of both endearing and absurdly asinine lyrics make it a fascinating listen. The minimalism in the production makes the songs very simple and very memorable, but the shit still bangs. Easily quotable.
I find other albums West has made have far too much "work" in them for someone who isn't a particularly good composer. They have a LOT of filler and needless production that add very little to the compositions besides being sound for its own sake. Simple compositions need simple presentation, especially if he can't write particularly good harmonic variation or counterpoint. Wouldn't Leave and Violent Crimes have some of the most beautiful little counter melodies i've ever heard Kanye put on a record.
