Agree with this somewhat. Japanese bands do have a distinct quirk a lot of the time but it rarely has anything to do with the music. Similar to the anime boom the west has ingested lately. It's probably a case of misunderstanding subtleties of a culture and thinking it's more novel than it really is. The same way people think the french are smooth and deep and artsy but if you showed some french artist to a Frenchman he'd probably shrug and say something like "Its not a big deal"

but i honestly dont care about english lyrics either.
its why im not a big fan of rap besides the production side. even if i know the lyrics, i never try to decipher their deeper meaning. im a music man through and through, not a lyricsfag (if such a thing even exists)

I believe we should criticize foreign music as much as we criticize english music. If we hate on Logic for his cringe ass lyrics then maybe we should look at whatever the fuck fishmans are talking about.
I'm not a guy who reads much into lyrics either but corny lines can be a huge turn off.
And I'm not saying that everyone should start learning japanese now, but we should at least have some basic understanding of what's going on.
I find it quite cheesy when an american makes a top 100 greatest albums oat list and includes all of these asian artists whose lyrics he doesn't even understand.

Long Season the album is one of their weaker efforts. The live version is superior and Uchu Nippon Setagaya is their magnum opus.
